Deal: Enjoy a full-day Footplate Experience at Heatherslaw Light Railway for 1. Learn how a 15 Inch Narrow Gauge Steam Locomotive works! Safety Briefing: Your day starts with a safety briefing complete with a tour of Heatherslaw sheds and yard. Day Activities: Be shown your train for the day with full instructions on how a steam it works, how to drive, fire and prepare the train for it’s daily operations. Then you can drive the train with passengers onboard! Completing the day: Once you have cleaned, polished and raised steam you and your instructor will attach the loco to the service train (8 coaches), then complete 5 full round trips to Etal. Ride the train: Your experience includes a full day ticket to ride the steam train with one companion. The last task of the day is to ensure the loco is ready for the following day’s service.
