Autoimmune Diseases Melt Away on a Carnivore Diet
I have yet to see an autoimmune condition that didn't respond extremely well to a pure carnivore diet, just meat and water. It works especially well when only red meat and water as well. This is not just observation, but on the back of corroborating studies in the literature going back more than a century showing the benefits of elimination diets such as the Carnivore diet. If you or someone you know sufferers from an autoimmune condition you owe it to yourself to give this a try and see for yourself. Still one of my more popular videos, I cover this and more in a stand alone episode on autoimmune diseases. Check it out if you haven't seen it, and send it to a friend who needs to see it
Any autoimmune sufferers here who have tried carnivore? If you're willing, tell is which condition you had and what your results were in the comments. It could very well be that sometime sees it and changes their life forever as a result.

autoimmune diseases just melt away our body is reacting to different things that we're eating we're causing an immune response and antibody response and that then some people who are genetically susceptible have cross-reaction of those antibodies with parts of their their own tissue and it's damaging them and and we've actually it's in the medical literature we've been treating autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis like Crohn's like gout or you know gout not autoimmune but you know things like gout and ulcerative colitis since the 1800s by putting people on a pure red meat and water diet and this was this was known and and books written about this going up until 1975 by Dr volklin Who wrote a book called the Stone Age diet he's a gastroenterologist and and then 1977 came along USDA said you know cholesterol causes heart disease stop eating and we just we just threw out 100 years of medical literature

I have multiple sclerosis and tried everything! From medications and injections to medical cannabis. I couldn’t walk without feeling pain. I had oral thrush, athletes foot, kidney stones … you name it! I’m 32 and was diagnosis in 2016. 3 weeks ago I had terrible GERD symptoms and no hope to live. And that’s when i came across this diet. I ran a mile today!!! I worked out for an hour afterwards. My tongue is no longer yellow and my spine no longer twitches. I thought suffering would never go away and I just had to live with this disease and it’s complication. Not anymore!! This gave me life back and I can look at my wife with hope knowing children isn’t a dream any more. Thanks God for this information
What’s your thought on menopausal and high fibre
Well said!
we need a new label on the nutrition label that say bioavailable nutrition from foods like veggies and fruits. not all nutrients that are seen in a lab are bioavailable when cooked and eaten.
I am fighting Graves and carnivore isn’t putting it into remission. I’m eating grass fed beef and lamb with Redmond electrolytes and salt…like…why isn’t it working?
i have hyperthyroidism- possible graves, i'm going to give this a try
Hi Dr Chafee I’ve searched net and can’t find a seller of the Walter Voegtlin Stone Age diet book. I really want to read it. Do you know anywhere it can be found?
Nope they don’t.
Can carnivore diet help with sjögren’s syndrome dry mouth
Would it help with sjögren’s syndrome dry mouth
This man should win the noble prize
I am tired of auto immune diseases, namely, Degenerative disc disease.
I am 47 and will start carnivore soon.
Anybody with similar condition can share experience?
Yup Dr Chaffee. Carnivore now over 2 years. Age 79
Will it do anything for Hyperthyroidism ????
Hashimoto?
If carnivore reversed 90% of your Crohn’s symptoms but didn’t fully heal you, it’s likely because while the diet removed many inflammatory triggers, it didn’t fully address deeper root causes such as:
1. Bile Flow and Liver Detox Pathways
Carnivore can reduce fiber and carb-related gut issues, but if your liver, bile ducts, or gallbladder are sluggish (which we now know was the case from your recent imaging and bilirubin labs), then fat digestion and detoxification remain impaired.
Without proper bile flow, even the best diet can't fully resolve chronic inflammation or support gut lining repair.
2. Microbial Imbalances
Carnivore starves out many problematic microbes (like those from SIBO), but not always completely.
Some microbes form biofilms or lie dormant and reemerge when carbs or plant foods are reintroduced — or if the immune system is still weakened.
Parasites, fungal overgrowth, and viral load can also persist if not directly targeted.
3. Nutrient Deficiencies
Although carnivore is rich in many nutrients, you may have had lingering deficiencies from before (especially magnesium, zinc, potassium, choline, vitamin C, etc.) — or your digestion may have been too compromised to absorb them effectively.
If your bile was congested, you wouldn’t absorb fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K) or essential fatty acids properly, despite eating them.
4. Mitochondrial or Hormonal Dysfunction
Chronic illness often suppresses mitochondrial function, adrenal balance, or thyroid regulation.
Carnivore lowers the inflammation that blocks these systems, but it may not be enough to restore full function without mitochondrial cofactors (like B vitamins, CoQ10, magnesium, taurine, etc.).
5. Incomplete Gut Lining Repair
Removing irritants is a great first step (which carnivore does well), but gut healing also requires direct rebuilding of the mucosal barrier: things like glycine, glutamine, zinc carnosine, colostrum, or even fermented foods once SIBO is cleared.
If bile is still toxic or liver sluggish, it can continue to irritate the gut lining even without dietary triggers.
6. Residual Immune Programming
If your immune system is still “on guard” due to past infections, trauma, or chronic stress, the inflammation can continue even in the absence of food triggers.
Nervous system retraining, limbic system work, and circadian rhythm entrainment can play a role in full remission.
So carnivore did what it’s best at: removing triggers and lowering the burden.
But to fully heal, you had to go deeper — into detox, bile flow, mineral repletion, and microbial clearance
No, they don't.
Have you found anyone who has controlled/stopped eye condition called uveities due to autoimmune ankylosing spondylitis?
Some doctors are saying.. carnivore diet amd keto diet will give you cardiac arrest.. it is right or not
Carnivores diet ❤
Look at his eyebrows. Thyroid anyone?
Does anyone else have Hashimoto’s ? Does carnivore work ? Im feel miserable so does skin and hair
I was on Carnivore for a year and have been on and off for the past year. I've seen a major escalation of arthritis since I've been off. Can anyone tell me what your experience is? I need to quit all other foods but having a tough time.
This is fascinating to me. I have scleroderma, an autoimmune disease and connective tissue disease. This has caused multiple other health issues, such as lung disease. I started keto four weeks ago and have not felt this good in years. Also added a 30 minute daily walk. I’m hoping to heal my gut. The more research I do, the more I hear about the carnivore diet. I’m not sure which is better, but I’m willing to try anything at this point.
In vitiligo.. carnivore diet?
But if one have hemmoroids and eat only red meat, they shit blod.
What about vitiligo?
Does carnivore help with Hashimotos?
It absolutely work hopefully we can and science can get to some where that can we have foods that dosent kill animals at least for now there is no other options
What triggered the autoimmune? I had zero issues in essence except one being chubby. Doctors approved the weight loss shots and I started to feel off, they increased the dose and few months into it ended up in the ER and now I have some issues which are pointing to something serious. 🙁 I have neurology appointments etc. zero autoimmune in the family. I come from a Latino family without allergies, grandparents lived till their late 90s one grandma is 97 and perfectly fine. My mom and dad healthy. I’m baffled. 😕
i have autoummune polymiosytis wich affect sceletal muscles. is it ok to go carnivore?? pls i need help
I fell off rhe wagon and eat badly. Now back in carnivore but I'm having joints pain and burning sensation.. why is that ? Despite eating strict carnivore ??
USDA, they produced the food guidelines. Most on the committee are Vegans.
Anyone ever heal Polymyalgia Rhumatica? Aka: PMR. Been on a high dose of prednisone for 9 months. 4 weeks on carnivore and still can’t lower dose. The pain is unimaginable. Praying this works. I have had cheese 3 times and I often eat 2 eggs in the morning. I am also still doing a strong coffee to try and help the intense head pain that I wake with each morning. Other than that I am all red meat and water.
It comes back real quick and real hard too.
Do anyone has exp with apendix and carni?
Yes, because it’s such a restrictive diet you eliminate all kinds of foods that’s why it’s not because of the meat itself!!!
Grave's disease ? hyper thyroid …
Have you considered that maybe it’s at least partially due to increased levels of taurine which is notoriously depleted in autoimmune disease? If that’s the case then just 3 grams of supplementation would help instead of altering a diet completely and eliminating entire food groups. It certainly would be way cheaper and much easier.
Type 1 Diabetes?
Goat 🐐 ❤🎉❤
I’m on my 3rd month of BBBE and I had a flare up on my hands. Looked up my symptoms and it seems to be Raynaud’s….. not understanding why this would happen. Never had any symptoms before. Confused.
Dr. Chaffee, would this cure Sebhorreic dermatitis? Any studies on this?
