Benefits of Infrared Sauna | Healing with Heat | Interview with Connie Zack from Sunlighten

In this episode, I was able to connect with Connie Zack from Sunlighten, the leader in infrared sauna tecology. This meant a lot to me as not only myself, but my entire family has benefited immensely over the years from owning a Sunlighten Sauna. It was very meaningful to be able to meet Connie and share my gratitude. I remember when I was in the middle of my healing crisis, few interventions gave me the relief I could receive from a 30 minute sauna session. It has continued to be a staple in my routine, supporting my health in ways I would not have expected. If you are interested, my family uses Sunlighten's mPulse series and our expectations have been thoroughly exceeded over the years.

hello and welcome to the mindful movement podcast thanks everybody for joining me on another another episode I'm grateful to have Connie Zach from sunlight and saos on the on the podcast today Connie thank you for joining me thanks L for having me excited to be here I'm not just grateful for you to be here today but I'm grateful that you guys made the sa as you do because I've been using one for over a decade now I think it's the very one that is sitting behind you for those that are watching this not just listening and and I was thinking I don't even know how I came about it because when I got one I wasn't listening to podcast I don't know I don't remember how I learned about uh getting the sunlight and infrared sauna but it is an absolute staple and it's I probably used it two or three times a week for I don't know 10 or 12 years oh that's wonderful and um it's provided a lot of benefits for me but I do have questions so I was looking forward to to picking your brain a little little bit and let the audience come along for the ride so I would love that pick away Le pick away I guess first some context I was reading briefly before this on your website that you guys started this company out of um a bit of suffering I guess a family member was suffering and then somehow used uh infrared sauna to help them come out of that do you can you um expand on that a little bit yeah happy to yeah it's exactly what happened is my brother was very very ill and tried everything he could everything he knew about and was um recommended by other people to heal himself and nothing worked until his dentist uh said you know I think Jason that your Mercury that's in your fillings in your mouth I think the Mercury is leaking into your body and that's causing the fatigue the vertigo you know the um just overall malaise and that that was he was experiencing he literally could not get out of bed I mean he he was miserable and so his dentist essentially diagnosed him with heavy metal toxicity and keep in mind this is over 25 years ago um nobody knew what that was and nobody had heard of infrared but his dentist said I that he had read some research showing that imper can help detoxify the body and you know being that mercury is so heavy it's really difficult to get Mercury out of the body but if you can do it safely and in a natural way inside your home um that would be the ideal way and so my brother explored and there was really only one you know product at the time on the market but he he started using an imper and it changed his life and I was able to watch the transform I was working at the time at proctoring gamble in the pharmaceutical Division and because I had such a desire to um to really help people live healthier lives and I was doing the best I could at the job at the time you know thinking I was really making a difference in um the cron and Colitis Foundation and cardiovascular products but when I saw my brother do this safely in a natural way in the comfort of his own home and this massive transformation I going from literally being you know in his bed every day to being able to walk around to eventually being able to exercise again and live a normal life like wow this is amazing so I started doing my own research and found abundance of studies that had already been done on infrared but they were not over here in the United States all the studies were in Asia and um So eventually I left my wonderful um career at PNG to help bring this technology you know forward to um to everybody in the United States and Beyond that's a great story I love healing stories and I want to get more into maybe how that works and how the infrared sauna could facilitate that healing um I know in other countries they're a little bit more used to sauna use but with all the work you've done have you seen kind of where it began like how far back does sauna or something that simulates that some kind of heat therapy has been used yeah infared that's a great question infared has been used for over I mean we've been around for 25 years it's back this year 25th year and when I was doing the research you know 25 years ago there was already Japan was already using infrared for um cardiovascular diseases as a Frontline treatment because it's so easily accessible and it it the way it works with the heart is such a safe and natural way and non invasive so they you know want to use something that's easier noninvasive um to help heal the heart versus you know medicine or or any type of surgery Etc so they um they studied uh is called weon therapy which is only 15 minutes a day uh well not a day 15 minutes per session for six um for six weeks a and they showed that those who used wayon which was infrared for 15 minutes followed by a warm blanket significantly led to healthier hearts in fact there's a study comparing those who didn't and there was a 50% reduction in hospitalization and death for those who used infrared versus those who didn't uh and um and other other benefits on the studies were were helping coronary arter disease strengthening the endothelial cells helping to increase circulation um you know decrease uh cholesterol I mean all the key the key markers of leading to a healthier heart infared has been shown to help with and that like I said that dates way back um and it's really just in the past I don't know I mean we've been doing this for so long so I can't can't really put a marker on it but you know um the the I would say relatively recently the past five or six years people are starting to pay attention to those studies and starting to talk about it more which is great you know but um you know we've been doing it a long time that's great that SAA sitting behind you is that like your personal one or is this for show for the camera uh it's for show for the camera mine is in my basement I am at sunlighten headquarters and this is our like little Haven our little Studio Haven that we have and um yeah so it's it's just it's just for your audience how do you use it personally like what's your what's your protocol yeah I want to hear how you use it too I would love that I love hearing people's stories so I am a morning uh sunlighten user and I like to stack it with exercise so I like to exercise first whether I'm walking or running or doing strength training or any type of cardiovascular exercise any type of movement and then I will end with um going inside my sunlight and and keep my core temperature up and I just I it can it accelerates you know my my um experience when I sun when I use my sunlight and afterwards and um and then I also find as a result of doing that in the morning that I have promoted a better sleep for me a better sleep pattern because I'm doing both in the morning and then by the time I am ready to go to bed I have a really relaxing restful sleep and Garmin gives me a good credit for my Sony session even though I can't enter it yet into um my watch we're working on that but I at least can pay attention to my sleep score and I know when I have you know stacked exercise in sauna um and so when do you use yours and how have a similar routine so I I have rou I have it in the basement and I have a pretty nice home gym and um I turn it on then I do my thing my my movement practice exercise and then I get in there and I will use and then over the years I have figured out like every possible stretch that I can oh fit in it now it's a technically a three-person sauna but I'm not a small person and I like to move around so I've like pushed the limits of what I can do while I'm in there and maybe every I at this point it's probably like every year I'll discover something new that I could fit in there and I get excited and I you know work it into my routine but I'll basically get it warmed up which I have a question about there something that I want to come back to but I get it warmed up I exercise I get in there when it's when it's nice and warm I'll do my like routine stretches I might have like a a focal area that I'm stretching and then um I might relax a little bit might like lay on my back with my legs up the wall kind of thing and then and then I'll get in position in like a traditional um like seated meditation position and I'll usually do a little bit of breath work and then a little bit of meditation and um and I I'm am so I have such routines like even the music that I that I like do like I'll I'll turn it on I'll be listening to maybe a podcast or something educational or a book while I'm exercising until the end of the exercise I'll usually switch to music and then if I haven't finished what I'm listening to like the podcast I'll put it back on while I'm stretching and then in the sauna and then I'll transition to music that I like for my breath work or my medit in my meditation so I have the routine barely dialed in but one thing I had a question about and I'm probably getting ahead of myself because I have more basic things I want to cover but I recently heard somebody reference and I think it was a representative sunlighten something regarding its efficiency or something where there's value to get in and be in when it is like starting and I never do that in fact I'm probably being dumb about this I never use the programs I have all the heaters just turned all the way up thinking more is better probably um you know probably poor thinking I don't know but that's just what I do uh I get in and it's just on and it's hot as possible um so is there a difference of what is coming out of these heaters in the beginning or once it's already warmed up and does it have a different effect on the body yes it does so there's two two things I want to comment on um the way what what you just said um so one is is when to get in and and the other is the program so I don't want to forget to to come back to the programs but the the ideal way to receive infrared into the body is to do it as soon as you turn it on because when you turn it on the wavelength is the longest that it's going to be it is very is long and and it is going to be absorbed into your water molecules and in a more efficient manner because you're not fighting anything else because you it's just it's it's it's you know just turn it on and the wavelength is super long super long and I always think of it visually as like the ocean you know when you have these long and I think I also have this picture of like dolphins when they're jumping out you know when you have this like long wave that um it's it's much easier to you know to to ride it and to to see it versus the shorter and choppier the waves are it's much more difficult to be absorbed into the body and what happens with the um energy is as it heats up and gets hotter the wavelength gets shorter and gets a little bit you know choppier so you kind of picture that ocean you know going from this really smooth you know dolphin like jumping do it just being more friction and then it's harder uh you know it still will get to you know absorbed and here's the great news is you have a sunlighten one of the things that makes sunlighten special is we have the highest um absorption rate on the market there and we have a patent on it so you you're getting up to 99% you know emissivity of infrared into the bodies you can't you can't get more any place else so you're you're set you you know you can have that peace of mind but there are and people will definitely say when they change that so I really encourage you to try it that way it's completely it's a different experience you know it's a mental it's a mindset shift when you get when you get in right away but I have heard from those who have made that change they really really notice a big difference and they really um once they get over that mental aspect of oh what am I doing in here because it's not hot um then they just they they notice that their body responds so much better and they feel so much better to clarify I don't know if I understand you're saying the heat of the sauna is changing the frequency of the wave or just as it's on the machine is emitting a shorter wave but not as long of a wave I'm saying that as the so what um the important part of the infared delivery is in this really the surface temperature of the heater the way that it works is as that surface temperature increases so as the temperature you know increases the wavelength and this is not a drastic it just it's eventually it starts to get shorter and so it's not the the ideal is as soon as you turn it on because it is the smoothest and the longest um that it's going to be therefore it's the most easily absorbed into the body and which is what you're looking for from your experience and so it's it's an excellent you can do it both ways it's a personal preference um but I would really encourage you to at least try to do it that way and and you know and maybe you could do I don't know I would hate to shift your routine not like you so D I'm such a creature of habit and I'm thinking like am I going to be able to realistically I want to tell you I'll try it but I also want to be honest so I will keep an open mind and and at some point I will give that a shot um so it's a function of the the surface temperature the heater that's interesting and then you wanted to touch on the programs too so it comes with I don't know half a dozen or so different programs there's six yeah there's six preset programs that really are magical and I encourage you to try that too again I understand I'm the same way with my routine so I get you know I get um and I appreciate just keeping an open mind because that's the way I am and then eventually maybe you know I will I will make a small attempt to make a change but the the U six preset programs are cardio anti-aging you know pain relief relaxation weight loss and detoxification and each one of those are scientifically based so we have done you don't have to worry about really what they consist of and the impuls and and the the firing and the backing off and everything we've done behind the scenes all you need to do is if you want want pain relief for example you know if you really want to focus on inflammation then you would use the pain relief program and we have we're using different intervals and different frequencies and different intensities on the infrared Spectrum wavelength so in the infrared Spectrum there is far infrared mid and near and each one of those is unique and behaves with the body in a different way to deliver um different benefits so when you isolate them and you um change their intensity and change their intervals and then blend them together you get different results and that's what we've done behind the scenes um so and put them into the programs and depending on what I'm looking for lately I've been doing a lot of pain relief um just you know for inflammation and just for Muscle Recovery and um that it is different than for example the anti-aging program um because that focuses on skin specifically and with skin you don't necessarily want the mid infera which is a little bit hotter experience you want the far and the near um wavelength so that's I mean we could do a whole is that because a whole episode just on on all the on the science and the W different wavelengths and it's maybe we could do a a short version of expanding on those is is that a when when you say to get the skin does that mean you just don't want it to penetrate too like too far you want it to be you don't want it to be too hot too hot so near Mid and and far can you just expand a little bit of the difference as far as how each one of those categories is interacting with our physiology yes so far I'll keep it really simple far is absorbed the deepest into your water molecules and it's really claimed to fame um is is cardiovascular benefits heart health as well as detox as well as it helps with depression um Mid infrared is a shorter wavelength and it's hotter so it's a it's a hotter experience it is great for reducing inflammation in the joint and tissues and increasing flexibility it's great for muscle recovery so we'll just call it that um there's much more into each of them but we're just going to make it simple near is is like super special I love talking talking about near infrared um because it's it's invisible so it's counterintuitive it's light energy which is what makes one of the things that makes impared so special is where heat energy and light energy so cool and the light energy of near infrared is invisible and it penetrates the skin and so it helps with reducing inflammation of the skin increasing collagen increasing elastin uh it helps with brain health and um lots of lots of different things and then we've also introduced red light into our saunas as well which is right next to on the Spectrum right next to near infrared and it's visible so people ask me all the time what's the difference between near infrared and red light here's the difference two things one is near infrared is invisible and red is visible and then the other is the depth of penetration into the skin near INF red goes deeper than red light those are the two big huge differences and that's a very quick highlevel explanation of near Red mid and far out of order add so the new models offer a red light feature in addition correct we expanded just this last the end of last year um and included you know red light with the um impulse series specifically which is the one that's behind gotcha that's the one I have so is that something that could be added after can I add the red light feature yeah we can talk about that off offline of of the way to do that it's a little bit more we're working through you know um different options that would be the simplus and we can talk we can talk about that okay speaking of that I just want to take a moment in touch on my experience with the company because that reminds me of something um I remember when I got this machine I mean it's been over 10 years maybe 12 awesome and um and I remember when I went through my healing crisis after getting lime disease it was like I lived in there I mean it it meant a lot to me it really helped move the needle on on how I felt in general but I remember there was a time along the way where um you guys had upgraded quite significantly like the power of the device and technology in it the screen and the like the power of the heaters and I felt like I had fomo or something like I was missing out on the better newer features but saers are I mean these are investments like realistically it's a it was a big it was a very big investment for for us at the time and um and you guys worked with me where I you guys said look if you can put them in if you could swap the stuff you could just buy the new heaters the Box you're sitting in is fine and that was great because I I was blown away by how much of a different was I mean I had you know I had like a old sauna and then for a very nominal fee you guys sent me like new heaters and at first it was a little intimidating uh to swap it out myself but I did it wasn't that big of a deal I think I even called and somebody from your like tech support maybe walked me through some of the steps over the phone and um and it was great because it was like brand new noticeably different got hotter got hotter faster and um it was kind of a I felt like it was a big win and I don't know just side note thanks for you know making all that happen that was a big plus as a as a owner it's a it feels like it's a company of people that really are into saunas and really care about helping people get the benefits from them oh thank you thanks L thanks so much for that feedback and thanks for the the story because when you said you it's been 10 years I was thinking gosh it's 2024 10 years 2014 you're I mean that's that dates back to pretty close to first generation maybe second generation um which is significantly different so I'm glad to hear that you made you know the changes because you know we were the first company on the market I mean that introduced a product that had more than one wavelength not I mean we and we delivered three and we were the only company that had the the programs you know based on on science and so we were learning you know um and we were evolving over the first several years when it was on the market and um and we just continued to invest in you know in the science and invest in expanding the size we learned that that matter we you know we changed the control panel me we made some some significant changes and I'm glad that you got those changes and um you know we just we're we're committed to you leading this world a healthier place and helping people live the fullest life possible um and so we want to do that with our products and so if we find ways to enhance a current a product that we're going to we're going to make that happen it's great you mentioned depression earlier is there a mechanism specifically from these wavelengths or is it just when you get into a own and you sweat it feels good and like it's I never come out of there and my mood is not better than when I went in is that just like a byproduct of you know getting in one of these things and getting a good sweat um the answer is both so um and I and I love just saying hearing you say you always feel better because that's that's one of our brand promises is to feel better you know do more and live fully and and that's consistent feedback that we get is everybody like when they after they have a sunlighten session they're like oh my God I feel so much better but what we've learned is there's there's actually um a a a specific reason and the way the the infrared energy works with the body is it helps the body to increase your core temperature and lots of different wonderful magical things happen when that happens when you increase your core temperature when specifically when it's relates to depression it helps your body unlock your thermal regulation switch if it's locked and what I mean by that is there's there's um lots of science showing that people who experience significant depression are they're unable to change their body's temperature so like at night they are still at an elevated temperature and they're unable to cool themselves down um and that causes that that sets off mood issues and all sorts of different um scientific factors that lead to Extended depression and when you take a sunlight in session we know for sure because we've done studies on this we can increase the body's core temperature up to three degrees and when you do that then something happens in the body where it unlocks and so then it starts to cool itself down and when it cools itself down you start to um you're able to then have a normal Thermo regul Thermo regulation so that the body is able to heat itself up cool it down and then that helps to um you know relieve depression there was a study done um which is an amazing study um several years ago from Dr roson in Wisconsin with only one session of infrared it relieved severe depression symptoms for over six weeks which is significant and that I mean literally one session and um so and is that what they attributed it to that like unlocking the thermo regulation yes as well as as well as Dron strongly believes too there's a connection with um like kind of similar to what you were saying as far as the brain and heating up that you're body when it's starting to sweat and your skin is starting to perspire and the Brain says oh wow like healthy like it just starts to wire your brain so that it releases different endorphins and you start to feel better and your skin is is is healthy and your brain starts to think this you know it's healthy and happy and it just you know kind of reprograms your brain as well so there's a couple like I said there's a couple different factors here's the other thing is you know infrared is an exercise mimetic so it it copies the effects of of of exercise and you know most people you know well you know this is you're expert in you know most people when they're they're moving and they feel better and they after they exercise whether it's intense exercise or or mild exercise they generally feel better and being in a sauna is a similar experience so that's another way it can help you know with um with mood and yeah I wonder how much there's like people out there that it's like you're waiting for something that helps you feel better instead of like just do something that makes you feel better like you could just sit there and it makes you feel better then you have a reference point like oh this is what it is like to feel good I think people in general don't um recognize the value of just a good Sweat There is something about it and I've been working in a gym for a long time and I mean it is very common the feedback I get people will go years without sweating and think nothing of it and it's like you mentioned the word detoxification earlier like that is a primary detoxification pathway and I think particularly useful pathway for the things that are harder to get out other ways like I think our de and this is a theory but the detoxic a organs like the primary organs like the liver and the kidney and such they I feel like form is born out of function so they have emerged through evolutionary process or whatever to deal with what the environmental exposure was and we have all these Pathways within them like the you know Phase 2 liver detox has seven different Pathways to conjugate a toxin and excrete it somehow but just over the last 100 years or so we've been exposed to so many new toxins and chemicals that didn't exist and those systems might not just be overburdened but they might not really have figured out how to use and and maybe in another million years of being exposed to all the Plastics or whatever those Pathways or maybe new Pathways within our liver will emerge to deal with these newer Environmental compounds but I wonder if it's one of those like when you can't get it out those ways just push it out the skin um because it's so large and it's got holes all over it it's like this inviting pathway I would think for the inner wisdom that's trying to regulate our homeostasis to just get rid of this junk and it's like if you live in this on this planet these days and you're exposed to all this stuff and you never sweat you're you're probably missing out on that like Escape Route that the body has to just get rid of the toxins you were exposed to today and and those could I would assume just accumulate and I think most people if you've been around here long enough on on Earth you're going to have some accumulation nobody's like you know intestines and liver is just so optimal that it could just handle everything when it just seems to be such an unnatural amount of exposure that we're all being hit with right we're exposed to 700,000 chemicals a day so it's crazy it it is it's it's amazing and sweat just to build on what you're saying um especially there there's a study that was done um it's called the buus study blood urine and sweat and it it validates exactly what you were just talking about which is that you know sweat was a more effective way of removing toxins such as cadmium arsenic um lead Mercury um aluminum it was more effective to release these toxins from sweat than it was from blood or urine in fact in fact when they measured the blood and urine there's many times where they wouldn't find any like specifically Mercury was one of them they didn't find any mercury in their blood um but when they took those same people they measured their sweat and then like all of them had had mercury in their sweat so it's it's a false positive it can be if you're if you're just looking you know at blood and urine if you're not focusing specifically on sweat and and there was actually just just extending that study a little bit because I was talking about exercise earlier which I'm you know huge huge fan of of of movement but um sweat through infrared was found um even more effective than sweat through exercise at removing toxins so that's why another reason I like to stack it and and if you can't stack it then that's okay just get in youra and and um because you you really want you need that infrared um energy to help move the body and um and release the toxins but I just feel that I feel better even when I do a little bit of movement you know I try and do it outside um because you're also receiving the infrared when you're outside from the Sun and then come inside and then you know we're bringing the sun inside to your sauna and um get the infrared and finish so that I'm getting kind of two times the benefit yeah a couple things that come to mind on that I mean the one point about the the blood urine sweat study I mean I would think with a toxin such as a heavy metal that the body really can't afford to have that floating around in the blood and if it sees an opportunity to get it out through the skin and bypass it and not be you know maybe seen by the immune system where I would assume it would react um you know the sweat it just seems to be like the path of least resistance I would think just because the sheer surface area and the amount that you can get out quickly safely um you mentioned so they've measured what comes out in sweat there's studies on like what's coming out and you're saying there's a difference between like a sauna sweat and an exercise sweat I I wonder is is that because um like when I think of a sauna sweat I think of a very parasympathetic based activity where there might be more of um where the body feels like it's in a place for Rejuvenation or healing or clean up and a sweat driven by exercise is a very sympathetic activity so there might be like a fight ORF flight where it is more of a stress and maybe not the time to um do the cleanup work it's more like that's just a function of your um you're you're getting heat out of the body because you need to get heat out of the body and not like an invitation like oo let's it's time to to um you know get all this gross debris out while we're laying because you know when you're in a sauna you're pretty still you know it's like you're getting the signal of you're not um the demands are not high whereas when you're exercising some you know your nervous system's like oh he's throwing weight around like this is uh we have to do the things we have to do to get him through this stress yeah you're exactly right I mean infrared like to think of it as as um you know Energy Medicine right so it works with your body energetically so it's different than exercise you know I mean it's it is it is tactically literally a wavelength that is being absorbed into you know deep into your body into your water molecules and helping um like stretch the bond with your molecules and create this intense movement inside your body you know with the cells and makes it makes your mitochondria stronger like it changes the the the vibration energy of your water molecules the majority of your body is water so I mean it's it's energetically working to make your body stronger to boost the immune system to get that sweat you know out of your body and with that sweat comes you know the removal of toxic elements that is like we just talked about is really hard to get out I mean it's you know think about my brother's Story 25 years ago more than 25 years ago it's it's very difficult uh to get aluminum those types of metals out of your body you know through exercise alone through that sweat you really need to change you need you need to change the molecules and change the structure in order to get the movement and the release of these heavy metals and these different types of toxins out of the body yeah it's such a great tool to have I really feel kind of spoiled and I'm actually uh really excited my older sister just got one from you guys and um I've been talking to her for a while she's been like I guess going to a facility that had one and really like racking up the expense on it like to go to a place that charges you to sit in one which if that's the only access you have then it's great but the the luxury of having one in your home is a is a real treat and having that regular access um I was tinkering on the website before the call and I like when I bought mine I don't remember a lot of options and now it looks like you guys have really expanded like the product line um I saw that there's one that is like uh really small so if you don't have space CU I could definitely see how space is a limitation um especially for someone like lives in an apartment or something so you have one that you essentially you could just lay down in and just sweat yeah we have the solo it's one of my favorites my personal favorites I love that product so much it's um with it's really what started it's one of the one the original UMAS we've learned so much on how to master the science behind infrared based on on the solo you can lie down it's telescopic design so it means that there's a lower Dome and an upper Dome and the upper Dome is larger so it pushes down and it you know collapses over the the lower gome so it makes it smaller and it's only about 67 pounds both domes combined so you can you know carry it and take it from room to room or or you know um just have it in one location I used to when I used to use mine I would just change my different rooms and experience at different places but you can lie down in it and there's sunlighten patented heaters at the foot of the sauna and then completely surrounding you over top and then your head is out and then you're also lying on top of a heated pad that also has the sunlighten heaters in it so you have a a total of nine different heating elements inside this solo so it's intense and and you're so close to the heaters it's a unique experience if you like intensity um it's it's a great it's a great product and it is so easy and portable and I mean you just plug it right into the wall and and you know you're you're good to go and that is all the like the same frequency stuff that the big ones have no it's not it's a different frequency it's the solo has far infrared and it also has the Chromo colored light therapy as well it does not have mid or near or red um but it's excellent excellent for detox we talked a lot about detox and it's excellent for um helping you to sleep and rest and Recovery it's an just a really great it's excellent cardiovascular health any types of heart health it's a great product and and a lot of things are connected to detox going back to that because you know so many people have they just don't feel great or they feel fatigu they F like lots of things going on if they were to detox their body through infrared energy they will feel better and so the solo is a great place to start you know if you instead of thinking oh I'm just going to wait until I can get impulse whatever what just get get the solo it's a great way to start I always tell people you will never ever ever regret uh getting it um and if eventually if you decide you want the other W links then you can you know expand and and get those and I know plenty of people that have both which is um just because they got the solo and they ended up getting you know impulse we also have a signature series which is um far INF fored in a cabin so if you don't want this lie down model you can get a cabin and then we have a series which is new since you um since you got your impulse called the amplify which is a hotter experience for those people that want intense heat in a cabin and we have full spectrum heaters in the front of you and that those full spectrum heaters deliver Heat at a more intense level thus the name amplify so that's we have four different choices and then of course in each one we have different woods and lots of different options but everybody here at sunlight as you said earlier they're so passionate about helping people and making the right fit for people and based on their lifestyle based on what's going on so the best thing to do is if you have any questions you know give us a call at sunlighten and somebody here one of our special Consultants will walk you through you know what the different options and what's the best choice for you and I mean our goal is to not help you know we don't want you to spend a ton of money if you don't have to so if we can find a product that is a you know better fit then we will absolutely do that that's great I I do have another question about that solo have two more questions I know of yeah I love talking about solo so it looks from the image like it's fabric so does that like when I think of sweating and laying on fabric my instinct is that that might be uncomfortable when there's something to clean so what's the logistics around like y taking care of that material yeah okay so there a couple different things so one is let's first talk about the pad which is heated some a lot of times people it's not in they think you're just laying on a path but you're you're getting the Ed heat underneath you right and on top of that there's a product called the copad hover which has a very special fiber that's infed emitting it's called celent and there's lots of science we won't go into all that right now but there's lots of reason we use that that specific fiber antibacterial and antimicrobial and what's great about the cover is when you're f right you like just take the cover off and wash it so that's how you you clean and typically speaking in the solo you're lying down and so all your sweat drips onto the cover you don't typically touch um in fact you don't ever touch the heating elements above you because you're just touching the um top of the Dome the upper Dome and you're pushing that away from you to get in and get out pulling it to to and once you're in and pushing it away to get out and um there's a there's also a cellent fiber there as well and the cellent is on the exterior inside is where the heating panels are and you don't just you don't ever really you don't touch them so there's ex not a lot of cleaning to do on the inside the cleaning is really on the um PAD as well as where your neck is which there's a cover that comes off and then can you how do you clean that is that easy just wash it just was it okay I asked because I personally am lazy when it comes to that stuff um I don't know maybe that's a male thing it's like I'm thinking like is this gonna be work but um that's good to hear so it's it's not so it does sound pretty easy the other thing I it's very easy it's easy to clean the cabins too while we're talking about cleaning we have a sunlighten cleaning kit that you can get that makes it really easy um so it's it's it's super easy to to clean any of the saunas it is not that is not a stress factor in any way okay I would probably be embarrassed if you saw if you shine a light on the inside of my sunlighting because it's probably overdue for cleaning um we can help you with that the other thing that stood out to me that I didn't really uh double click yet but I saw the words acoustic resonance therapy um what is that that sounds like something up my alley what is that yeah it is it is something up your alley um so it is combines sound and vibration to balance the brain waves to put the brain in the most relaxed State um said another way you are U when you're using acoustic resonance you're sitting on top of um a device that vibrates and then you will be listening to the music and so the combination of both of those the acoustic and the res resonance is what when it works together with your body it like gets your body into this very very deep um relax State very very quickly and this is also based on science as well and that could uh can tolerate the heat of the SAA you could use that inside the SAA yes so it's like um a speaker of some sort yes underneath the bench and do you control what plays through there or is there like does it come with just settings where it's like playing certain frequencies or you like playing your music through it uh you can do both you can do both um you the it comes though everything is underneath the bench so you there's you you don't you don't place it I you the placement is already set okay gotcha okay and that's something that could be added also or is that like if you already have one of the sauna that's an additional thing that you could get to integrate with what you already have or does that only um I'm just thinking for selfish reasons out loud here like can that be added to a sauna you already have um you can right now we um are pausing um I call Art acoustic resonance therapy so it's you you can't do it it's a timing thing so not not at this current moment so don't everybody get excited and everybody call in to add acoustic resence therapy to their SAA but it is something that sunl specializes in and we're working through some changes and so um not at the current moment but when it does we can let you know okay Connie I get it um so we've went on a lot of like the basics is there anything else that comes to mind for you that you feel like someone that might be new to this or just curious you think they should know would be valuable yeah I I think that somebody should you know we talked a lot about science and I think what's really important if I could you know help people with really one thing is that the way the infrared works with your body and I talked about it kind mimicking exercise and increasing the movement and increasing blood flow and and helping the body kind of just reset it's such a foundational tool for you to use to help your body you know rest better recover better um you know get more energy because your mind is going to be clearer because you get rid of a lot of toxins and so it's just it's to me for I if you don't even if you don't want to get to know the science you don't want to understand it at all it it's to me it's a Nob brainer because you it's it's a at doing your entire body at one time and and you can do other things when you're in there and I want to know from you because you're you know you're the expert you know when it comes to meditation and uh I and stretching like I would love to know from you what are things you we talked about your routine but specifically you know what are some great meditations to do inside they're like and you can't it there's not a lot of foundational Wellness products out there that you can stack the way you can do a sunlighten INF on a and what I mean by that is I can go in there and then I can take you know I can listen to a podcast I can do stretching I can I've really gotten into breath work and I'm loving that that feeling while I'm in there and um intentional setting visualizations I mean there go the list goes on and on and on right um and it just it I can't do when I'm exercising I can't stack with anything else you know I'm going for a run and that's I mean I can try and maybe work on some mental stuff but yeah I definitely stack a lot of stuff I would share my stretching routine but that's a proprietary in um blend that I don't share no just kidding um but I I do a lot of like a lot of basic yoga things that that you could fit it's just I don't necessarily do it with the sequencing you would and if you were taking maybe a traditional yoga class the other thing that I stack with it and when I do breath work personally in there I you know some breath practices are kind of invigorating and some are kind of balancing and some are relaxing I I will generally do very little of the um like invigorating practices I'll lean more towards like um the calming ones and then sometimes right before I get out I'll do like some centering Styles just to like regroup and get kind of centered balanced before I kind of get on with my day so I'm not like falling asleep as I you know I'm walking up the stairs you know out of the basement out of there like I I try to get focused the other thing that I do because there's a window in it and um you know in the door of the S is a window and if I when I'm seated for my meditation practice I'm always in front of the window which um which allows me to see see out the window of my basement to the forest out through my backyard oh yeah yeah so I will do um different eye exercises which I have found very like surprisingly powerful not just to improve like my vision and my eye tracking but to interact with my nervous system in a very positive way so it's an opportunity for me where I could see I'm I'm still so I don't have the distraction of like doing other whatever like you're sitting in a box you're still it's you know probably quiet or you know Rel you know calming music on and um and I could look at like the lettering I'll do exercises where I'm looking at the lettering on the window like the sunlight and Logo lettering and then through that I could look at something on the the window of my basement past it and then a tree that's on my patio past that and then a tree that's like a hundred yards farther like in the woods and I could do different tracking exercises with my eyes so that's probably a uncommon stack that people use auna for that may be the first time I've heard that but it's just like Lin it's just lined up well for me and it's one of those things where I get a lot of benefit out and I don't um give those eye exercises I think the attention they deserve because there's always just something else to do but when you're in a box sitting still there's you know fewer distraction there's fewer things to do so it's like a perfect opportunity for me to do that so that's my uncommon stack um yeah that's what I'll do but mostly it's just like how comfortable can I get into a stretch and using the heat to your advantage I mean you can get a much deeper stretch when you're cooking you know it's it's just you can go to different places that you just won't go if you're not all warm and you know it's just and I think everybody could kind of relate to that that you know when you're hot it's just easier things are more forgiving and um there's some other things that I've noticed too that take place in the SAA that I would put under the category of maybe um emotional processing spiritual work um contemplation self retrospect like thinking about my relationship with myself or what's going on in my life like it is a nice place where you're you don't have the burden of the other stuff of life like Stillness brings out it makes space for ideas to emerge that you need that need to come out and when you're distracted they don't if you're on Twitter or whatever they or if you're on social media they don't come out when you're at work they don't come out but when you still they have a chance and it's an opportunity to be like I'm I'm in here this is my time for me to allow whatever I need to take place and that might look different for different people but I have found that you work out you sweat you stretch you breathe and then you make space and things that will arise that you need to arise that otherwise would not arise if that makes sense very well said it makes me want to go sit inside my like oh God it sounds so wonderful Connie I want to thank you for taking the time and um and spreading the education here today and I also want to thank you guys you've offered some um something to our listeners if they're interested so I encourage people to check out sunlight. comom is the website right yep sunlight and.com make sure you mention um where you heard and make sure you mention that you heard it here on your podcast and um you know say Les Raymond and say the mind I think there's a Code I think the code is mindful I'm not sure but I'll double check it I'll have it in the show notes for everybody and if you have questions I do recommend you guys uh call sunlighten because they have people that actually know the products to talk to and they could walk you through um any questions you have and walk you through that process making sure you're making the good the the right choice for you exactly um yeah thank you and for the listeners out there I always appreciate you're listening if you feel like you know somebody that would benefit from one please send the episode their way and I hope everybody out there has a great day thank you so much this is so um this is just a great podcast thank you

  1. I just bought a solo from Sunlighten after purchasing a one person mPulse Aspire, which I was so looking forward to using but my landlord refused to allow me to pay to install the dedicated 20amp circuit that's required for all of Sunlighten's standing saunas. I very sadly have to return the mPulse to exchange for the solo (it's FINALLY being picked up tomorrow). The return process has been a nightmare, long delays on Sunlighten's end and a warning to everyone: it costs $1200+ to return the sauna, and they don't tell you this or that you will need to have specific electric circuit requirements, in the sales process.

These saunas are so incredibly expensive to start with, the whole process has given me so much stress. But I need the infrared therapy a lot so I sucked it up and am getting the solo. It only has the FIR (not the mid or near that the mPulse series has) but that's still super therapeutic. Just everyone, do your homework before you purchase one!

Also I want to acknowledge Connie's disclosure that exposure to the most powerful FIR wavelengths starts from the moment you turn on the sauna, so getting in the sauna cold is the ideal way to use it. This was great to learn. It lengthens the time in the sauna but sounds like, especially coinciding with the research that's been done, that's the most therapeutic way to use infrared saunas. Such great information!

  2. My Sunlighten is scheduled for delivery Monday! I've owned an MPulse in the past and got a lot of benefit from it. We moved and left the sauna, so I missed it!

  3. I had been using infrared sauna daily for 3 weeks now. I noticed that my blood glucose has risen and doesn't come down to high 90s it usually is. It is now around 105. And if I check it right after sauna session, it is around 145. I am concerned.

  4. This woman is not very knowledgeable about infrared sauna use, some of her explanations are downright embarrassing, especially when she shills for her own product. It's not like I haven't given her multiple chances to redeem herself, I have watched several of her vids. She is just not a good spokesperson for infrared sauna therapy, there are much better sources out there for that.

  5. I have one use it four times every week, a sunlighten one. I go in to it cold to hot.

  6. I am in between ordering a sunlighten or a Radiant Health. Radiant seems to have lower EMFs and better non toxic wood. Does anyone have any information on this??

  7. I have so many questions but will stick to 1. We have an infrared at home and you said to start with it not hot. I do not sweat? Sometimes I don't sweat in there at all even when it's hot? Why and is it still helping me?

  8. I’ve been using my new sauna everyday for a solid month now, and can’t describe in words the difference I feel from beforehand. I’ve lost weight, sleep better, and the pain from sore muscles after exercise or from my arthritic hands has been relieved immensely. I can’t even think of going back to life without it.

  9. Y'all… You wouldn't believe this. Just last night I was dreaming I went into a wooden sauna and when inside infrared lights turned on and in the dream I was like "wow, how nice!!" Then I woke up from the dream, opened my phone and saw this video in the feed… Oh my gosh I wish I had one in my home so badly! Can you just buy infrared lights instead of the whole sauna?

  10. I try to book an infrared sauna session at least every other week to lower my inflammation. I wish I had one at home!

  11. I am so grateful to have come across this podcast. I love to use the sauna and am thrilled to find out about your company.
Looking forward to the experience of a Sunlighten sauna. Thank you for your research and for bringing this to our attention.
