intermittent fasting how long does it actually take to start seeing results you've probably seen stories like corollas or ron's or jennifer's where they use intermittent fasting and feel amazing but how long can you actually expect for it to take to start seeing results today i'm breaking down the details of exactly how long it takes to start seeing results with intermittent fasting in today's video if you're new here my name is autumn and i'm a certified clinical nutritionist with my master's nutrition human performance on my channel i talk a lot about intermittent fasting and tips on how you can use intermittent fasting to achieve your weight loss and wellness goals so if you're new here make sure you click the button down below to subscribe so how long does it take there have actually been a couple recent studies that have dived specifically into this question in fact there's a 2020 review of a bunch of studies that found that those who were classified as obese lost around 1 to 1.4 pounds per week while using an average of a 16 hour daily fast now it's important to note that this is where they didn't change anything about their meals they only incorporated intermittent fasting now one of the reasons why intermittent fasting is such a great tool for weight loss is because it helps the body to use fat as fuel which with weight loss that's one of the main goals we want to use fat we don't want to use muscle mass and using that fasting period was found by that same study to specifically focus on using fat from the body with that weight loss this typically all comes down to the fat storing hormone insulin and insulin is affected by a couple of factors first of all how frequently you're eating which is why when you're eating less frequently throughout the day with using intermittent fasting it helps the body to tap into fat burning but also the types of foods you're eating so if you're used to eating the types of foods that cause your body to increase storing hormone insulin so namely really high carbohydrate really high sugar or refined carbohydrate foods this can cause your body to take a little bit more time to start tapping into fat burning as your body adjusts to not having as high of those insulin levels so from my own experience and from what a lot of other people have reported back there's usually around a three day to a two week period where the body starts to essentially relearn how to use fat as fuel so if you typically have consumed a much higher carbohydrate diet where you already have those higher insulin levels as a result it might be on that upper end of two weeks whereas if you already are eating a really satiating lower glycemic diet that's rich in protein fat and fiber it might be three days or less for you to start seeing results and this all comes down to the concept of metabolic flexibility which sounds like a big word but it essentially just means how easily your body can shift back and forth from using fat or carbohydrates as a fuel source so if you're more metabolically flexible that means it'll typically take less time for your body to start seeing results whereas if you're used to only using carbohydrates as a fuel source or mostly using carbohydrates as a fuel source you're likely less metabolically flexible and it will take you a little bit longer more on that two weekend to start seeing results and this is where i've seen addressing the food and what you're eating during your eating window as well as incorporating intermittent fasting can really help to boost your progress in fact ron who not only was using intermittent fasting but also really focusing on the types of foods within his eating window by using the complete intermittent fasting bundle protocols lost around 70 pounds in six months which averages to about three pounds per week that's more than double if not triple the amount of weight loss that was seen with just intermittent fasting alone and not addressing the meals so if you're using intermittent fasting and if you're also addressing the types of foods that you're eating within your eating window this can not only help to shorten that grace period of time for how long it takes to start seeing results but it can also help to boost that weight loss progress not to mention those protein fat and fiber rich foods that support weight loss also helps you feel much more full and satisfied so you're not going to be hungry and you're not going to have sugar cravings but really it's just a win-win so i'll have the details for the complete intermittent fasting bundle down in the description below but if you are looking to lose weight i highly recommend that you also check out this video next where it dives into specific foods that can help you achieve your weight loss goal also if you're new to my channel and you love the science backed information make sure you subscribe right here come out with new videos every tuesday and thursday alright guys thanks so much for tuning in and i'll see my next video

  1. I have started intermittent fasting 5 weeks ago and I've lost 5 kilos so far its going good

  2. Before I started intermittent fasting, I weighed 193 & had high blood pressure, pre diabetes and sciatic nerve pain, 4 months later I’m 158lbs & blood sugar is now 85 and BP is normal & sciatic pain is gone. I did one 75 hr fasting and rest has been 18/6 fasting, feel really good now,

  3. lost 2kg in 3 weeks.
It's a first in my 33 years that i got a huge bulging belly, my sister called me out for it.
I think i gained 3kg over the course of a month by eating irregularly and beers.
    Geeze, not doing that again.

IF is hell to deal with when you have to be awake for most of the time

  4. 1 week in eating 1 one meal a day I've lost 19 pounds, i know my body would react quick, I will change too 16/8 next week, My face also looks slightly slimmer ,Keep at it because it 100% works as long as you don't cheat.

  5. A bonus that I've found is how much more you enjoy your food , it's a joy in the mouth , every bite. We have so much food we take it for granted…also eating all day !!!, when you stop and think about it that can't be natural or good for any human or animal.

  6. I started IF with 18 hours fasting windows & gradually increased it to 19, 20, 21, 23 & 24 hours of fasting windows for 12 days, I cut down my refined carbs & unhealthily fats, then I increased my fiber, protein, healthy fats & complex carbs, I lost 4kg in 12 days. My usual eating windows anytime between 10:30AM-4:00PM. My exercise: weight training and treadmill prior to eating windows. I’m 45 years old woman with 156cm.

  7. Now im 82kg 164cm ht my target wt is 60 kg by next May. I decided to try 20:4 fasting. i feel tired and not able to concentrate in study cuz of hunger so what should I do?

  8. Have done 20:4 fasting for 70 days.. I have lost around 14 kgs 💯

  9. I'm doing the 20:4 method so far and it's been 1 week

  10. The fact that nobody talks about the book Woman’s weight loss secrets: the unspoken truth, speaks volumes about how people are stuck in a trance

  11. I didn't lose anything intermittent fasting for 4 months. I cook all my foods from scratch so not from processed foods or any junk in my food. I ate 2-3 eggs in the morning then I ate a good portion of meat with some low carb veggies.

  12. Can you combine this with exercise and cardio??

  13. Day 9 of 20:4 and OMAD. I eat one large, low-carb, high protein meal a day and drink 4-4.5 litres of water a day. I also cut out all extra sugars.
I already noticed a huge change in my body

  14. Clickbait rubbish 🤦‍♂️

  15. It takes one month to see results…

  16. I did IF for over a year with no results. My dietician said it slowed my metabolism down so she wants me to eat 3x a day.

  17. I noticed a weight loss pretty soon. Within 3 days of starting, I began losing a little under 1lb per day. I also found that it became increasingly easier with each passing day. At the beginning, I would eye the clock waiting for my eating window to open because I was so hungry. By day 4, I wasn’t even feeling hungry until my eating window was about to close. Even though my initial plan was to do 8:16, I found it became pretty easy to just do 1:23

  18. I started the 16/8 two weeks ago. Not changing much with my diet. Maybe a little less sugar. And felt kind of frustrated because I’m not seeing scale results. But then I saw a video that talks about toxins and our liver. And that can throw a wrench into things. And I think that’s definitely what’s happening with me as I have NAFLD🫤😭
So I’m simultaneously working on that with continuing the 16/8.

  19. Great information. But can you stop flapping your hands around when you talk? It distracting from your information.

  20. I have been doing 16:8 for 2.5 weeks and haven’t lost any weight at all.

  21. So if it’s been 4 weeks of 16:8 fasting, the right foods the right ways, lots of water and walking and see zero results what do you suggest…?

  22. Well I’ve started Jan1st 2024 and it is now Jan23rd 2024 I’ve been Doing Moad way of life once a day. Still hitting my protein macros and fats but eased out of carbs so I eat 1300-1500 cals per day 4 days a week in a row then I do a refeed day at 2500-2800 cals no sugars tho only Whole Foods no processed foods. Then I do a 48 hour fast after that. Then back to Moad I also weight train 3 days a week and walk 1-2 hours 7 days a week I have lost 22 pounds in 22 days a pound a day. Now I’m 6’ tall and started at 287 lb now down to 265-266 in just 3 weeks. It’s all about what you put in your body and exercise which is as easy as just walking An hour a day. Weight training is great cause more muscle you have the easier it is to burn fat to a certain point. Now I suspect 7-10 lb of that was water weight but ya everyone I know has said something when I’ve seen them

  23. I started this year. Jan 1st, 2024. I became an emotional Binger after my pregnancy. Plus, I grazed all day. If I wasn't working… I was eating (all processed junk food). I gained over 100lbs in the last 3 years.

Since the 1st, I started IF and started focusing on my food and nutrients. I eat two meals a day. By week 2, I notice my back rolls were almost gone. And week 3, I weighed myself. I was down 13lbs. My stomach is slowly going away. My goal is to reach 170 by my birthday in July 2024.

Wish me luck on my journey. 😊

  24. Autumn, Thank you for this video. I started intermittant fasting on January 10, 2024. Tomorrow will be one week and I will be stepping on the scale. I am glad that I found your video incase tomorrow or in the next couple of weeks I dont see much weight drop off. You gave me the knowledge to take this challenge on. Challenge accepted!
HERE. WE. GO! Take care! – Chris

  25. damm your cute WILL YOU MARRY ME

  26. I saw a few vids and now i understand why Americans are so obese. They eat all day. I am from Belgium and eat like the first time at 10.30 am and last time 7pm.I did not know i did a kind of fasting.

  27. I started intermittent fasting about a week ago. I fast for 16 to 18 hours daily
I didnt weigh myself but im feeling more energetic , my mind is more clearer , Less stress and also losing weight effortlessly 😊

My goal is six pack abs and im postive that in a month's ill have visible six pack abs as im also exercising during my fast

Its not easy at all but doable. I have a terrible headache as i write this but im not givjng up 😅

  28. i lost 50 lbs in 6 months. i’m 53. i ate anything i wanted during the feeding window and tried to stay around 2000 calories a day. i are pizza, chocolate, etc. My only recommendation is Don’t do the fad keto / atkins / low carb diets. they only work in the short term and are not sustainable for most and made me feel like crap.

  29. I think some people are meant for fasting and some not like there must be hyper responders to fasting

  30. Wow! The way these videos are structured, you naturally just want to see the next one as it answers the questions in your head as you watch the current one! Amazing!!!! Subscribed!

  31. have no idea why. Im dping 20:4 fasting in 4 days now. I look slimmer for sure, my arm, my belly, my face etc.. but i gain 0,3-0,5kg/day in 4 days …..Just why ..Before fast : 57-58, now im 59kg

  32. Great info. Thanks! (Cookie monster insert hilarious😂)

  33. I did 23/1 for a month and a half… First 3 days were the hardest but was able to pull off since I sleep a lot ( like 12-16 hours on days off) I literally lost a 1lb a day for about 3 weeks! No carbs for my 1 hour window… pork or chicken… I suggest no beef because even with 23/1 it takes awhile to break down.. trust on that! Smoothie with protein powder and nuts and fruits or whatever you can cram within that hour. I went from 265 to 245 literally losing a lb a day.. I did my research and YouTube videos.. almost a month in my body stopped losing weight and juss sat there. I pushed it for couple more weeks and nada… I did some research and this is common because your body catches on and adjust to your new diet and if you wanna loose more you gotta put more hours in which can be 1-3 days without eating! Fuck that!!! I gave up but was happier with what I accomplished. Till today my weight fluctuates between 246-250 but I’m happy with that. I’m now doing and 18-6 with workouts… hope I see some results and if I do I plan on doing the 23-1 but not anytime soon! Good luck to all and it can be done…

  34. Can intermediate fasting work with counting macros? Anyone?

  35. For me I’m losing about a pound a week but I’ve had so much more energy. I love your name by the way. 🍁

  36. I’ve been doing intermittent fasting for about a week but was doing 12/12. Today is day one of 14/10. I do walk. I’m going to try this for 30 days and see how it goes ❤
