[Music] two words intermittent fasting one of my favorite diets and the first one to ever get me really lean some of you might not know what if is so a quick rundown on it I or intermittent fasting where you fast for a set number of hours a day I usually do either 16 or 20 hours since there's only 24 hours in a day that leaves me with either eight or 4 hours to eat however many calories I should be eating to lose weight basically what you're doing is eating what you would normally eat to lose weight just in a shorter amount of time so rather than to eat a bunch of small meals get one or two really big ones this is great for people like me who love bigger portions or who have issues with binge eating now that we've briefly gone over what if is let's jump into six tips that have helped me one stop complaining sure you've probably ate breakfast your life upon waking up but that doesn't mean by skipping it you're going to starve to death you've also probably tied your shoes the same way your whole life but there's definitely other ways and possibly more efficient ways to tie them let your body adjust before you know it you'll forget what breakfast was even though breakfast means to break your fast but I'm just associating breakfast with the morning time so yeah hopefully you understand this one two don't let yourself get too hungry what I mean by this one is if you're planning to fast for 18 hours and after 16 all you can think about is food it's probably a good time to break the fast that day it's better to break your fast early than to risk binge eating into [Music] oblivian you don't have issues with binge eating then I guess you could suck it up the last thing you want to do is develop an eating disorder to lose a few pounds listen to your body know the difference between eating out of habit or boredom and actually needing food for fuel three black coffee and tea are your friends and only will they fill you up and most of the time tastes way better than water but caffeine which is in both of them will give you more energy put you in a better mood have you ever had a Red Bull I never had a Red Bull before but I had a Red Bull last night and I really like Red Bull make you focus on other things and so on because caffeine does this could be said that it plays a role in suppressing your appetite oh and the most important fact about these is that they won't break your fast so long as you don't add anything to them four don't neglect your calorie intake just because you're only eating one or two meals a day doesn't mean you still can't gain weight sure there's less of a chance you're going to overeat but you still want to make sure to keep track of your calories and macros at least in the beginning so you can gauge how much you should eat to lose weight you can go for a run in sandals but proper running shoes will make things much easier catch my drift five work out around your schedule getting up earlier one [Music] day or have a meeting right in the middle of your eating block change up your hours the only thing that matters is that you're fasting for as long as you comfortably can that day and in my opinion at least 16 hours at a minimum but if you can only do say 14 that day it's really not a big deal be more flexible than strict with your schedule just focus on total hours fasted and you'll be good to go and six workout fasted or don't work out fasted personally I almost always like to work out fasted before you asked no I don't lose strength and yes I have energy when doing so my body reacts really well to if but yours might not so my take on this is that if you're someone who just can't get a good workout in without eating before then you should put your eating block right before your workout even if science says the fast of workout is more beneficial if you're not in the zone mentally or just lack the energy to work out at your highest level then you'll be missing out breaking your fast and eating so you can work out at a high level will have way more benefit to you than any extra benefit from fasting I hope this makes sense think of it like this caffeine wakes you up but if you're not sleeping enough you're still going to re tired so there you go six tips that have helped me you guys have any tips that have helped you progress while doing if let me know them in the comments below Smack That Thumbs Up Button if you want some more diet tip videos like this don't forget to subscribe and turn on notifications so you never miss a video and of course stay healthy oh and post your favorite thing to break your fast with in the comments below too I don't know what mine is but I'll think about it and post it down there [Music] n [Music]

  27. I LOOOOOVE being on an IF diet. I'm on it for this contest prep right now, and have been doing it since summer 2016! I love having a good carb/protein heavy meal to break my fast before I workout (sometimes afterwards too) and with bigger portions mean BIGGER PANCAKES for my meal!

    So many people promote it like it's a magic pill, and many people have great success with it eating whatever they want and not tracking calories, so they think the fasting in and of itself made them lose weight, and they teach it to others as if it is so.
    But I know that I can easily eat well above maintenance calories in one sitting, so I still need to choose high volume foods and track them.
    That's just one of the reasons I love IF. It's hard for me to stop eating tasty food even if I'm full, but it's manageable with IF.
    The other thing is that I'm more focused. Food knocks me out (figuratively) real quick. I have a hard time working on any of my tasks after a meal of pretty much any size.

  33. My number 1 tip is too keep yourself busy during the fast. if you're at home doing nothing, time will no go by and all you will think about is food.

  38. I love IF, it just gives you so much freedom to only eat once or twice per day. I switch it between 4 and 6 hour windows. If I end up eating early one day for some reason, just pick right back up where you left off the next day. Awesome tips and great video as always brother.
