joining us now with strategies for a menopause makeover are doctors Lana Gardner and Leah tikl Taylor from docs outside the box and kids outside the box docs welcome it's great to see you both good to see you thank you so I'm sure docs outside the box you address menopause and you probably started a lot earlier than a lot of women would believe absolutely we'll even start talking about it in the 30s because what we know is there's a good way to hit menopause and per menop PA and there's not a good way the not good way would be overweight hypertensive diabetic addicted to sugar alcohol or having not dealt with the emotional issues so when is the best time to intervene well once a a female comes into our Clinic who is already in menopause they are in a world of hurt they have no libido they don't feel like themselves and they are uh desperate to feel different yeah it's amazing um the change and it kind of creeps up over time and then you wake up and you're there now what are your thoughts on hormone replacement therapy oh we are big proponents of uh hormone replacement therapy we tend to follow the recommendations of the international menopause Society um they have found over and over again that hormone replacement after menopause is both safe and beneficial our p patients notice such a huge change in gaale we start in the per menopausal years you don't wait till you stop minrating you you you have focus on this before we uh see that the patients have better uh sleep no more hot flashes they can get through the night there's no night sweats the libido May return the skin texture can improve but most importantly the bone health improves and the status of their muscle Health yeah I I actually just got a scan and realize that I'm in the you know early stages of bone loss and I didn't realize that hormone replacement actually addresses this it does it's a big part of it something in Perry menopause tells our bones it's okay to uh just relax now and not keep adding tissue we are going to live so much longer than menopause in this time that we have to really focus on what's going to get us in trouble later bone health we tend to use um what's called bioidentical hormones mean hormones that are the exact molecule that you're still making some of as opposed to a synthetic that's close to an estrogen or close to a progesterone we use we try to imitate Mother Nature as much as possible we are not big proponents of high levels of hormones in per menopausal or postmenopausal women we don't believe it's safe to give a woman uh a manly level of testosterone long term we've seen problems so we give small doses daily that you can titrate well and we're very careful we follow these patients about every three months with Labs symptom assessment and can this help with a woman's sex life absolutely can improve and libido will return that is really very interesting to know and so you you you don't do the pellets you do dissolvables and creams because I think a lot of people are scared of the pellets just because once you take that step you've taken that step for about four to 6 months absolutely and when the pellet gets inserted you get high levels and then it decreases so you're always sort of on the roller coaster ride our way it's a nice steady state all right um well this has been absolutely fascinating real quick question on the bone loss I did read some new research showing that with the right treatment you can actually reverse it 100% our women grow their bones back to normal incredible docs outside the box is there anything they can't do it is such a pleasure catching up with the both of you thanks G thank you all right docks outside the box and kids outside the box are located in St Peters B for more information or to schedule an appointment call 727-498-4862
