Sugar withdrawal is like opioid withdrawal. Sugar withdrawal is real. Sugar withdrawal symptoms include headaches, muscle cramps, bloating, but the mental effect can include feeling depressed or anxious. Excessive sugar intake produces an increase in the endorphins that your body makes. Sugar also activates dopamine, which is the reward system in your brain.

Ek sit dit in die lug aanhalings want tegnies is dit nie regtig in verslawing deur psigiatriese begrippe, maar behaviorally dit is soos ‘n verslawing so ek gaan om te praat oor maniere waarop jy kan bepaal of erken as jy ‘n suiker verslawing en hoe jy gratis van kan breek hierdie. Waarom is dit belangrik vanuit ‘n geestesgesondheidsoogpunt? Want met suikeronttrekking kry u nie net die fisiese simptome soos hoofpyn, opgeblasenheid nie , maar u kan ook hartseer word. Dit kan selfs soos depressie of angs voel. As u hierdie onderwerp ondersoek, sal u sien dat oormatige suiker die endorfiene wat u liggaam verhoog, verhoog. Endorfiene is die natuurlike opioïede van die liggaam. Dit is wat u ervaar met intense oefening soos ‘n hardloper. U liggaam produseer eintlik chemikalieë wat dieselfde struktuur het as opioïede. Hoe breek jy dan hierdie siklus? Dit raak ‘n bietjie lastig hier. Suikerverslawing gaan nie altyd oor die inname van te veel lekkers nie. In werklikheid kan jy verslaaf raak aan suiker, selfs as jy nie ‘n soetkoek het nie. Baie voedselsoorte wat ons daagliks verbruik, het suiker bygevoeg, en voorbeelde hiervan kan wees soos pastasous, sop, jogurt, slaaisous. Enigiets wat vetvry sê, het suiker bygevoeg om dit beter te laat smaak. Dan is daar ook souse en speserye soos ketchup, mosterd, mayonnaise, selfs beskuitjies. Ek bedoel dit is oral en wat jammer is, is die bereide bevrore voedsel soos Lean Cuisine en sulke goed wat suiker bevat. Dit is dus die voorkoms van suiker in hierdie voedsel wat daartoe kan bydra dat u suikerverslawing het of ontwikkel. En hier is ‘n paar tekens dat jy verslaaf is aan suiker. U vind dit regtig moeilik om nee te sê vir soet lekkernye. U is gereeld lus vir kos, selfs as u nie honger is nie. U kry ‘n korttermyn- bui of energieverbetering as u die kos eet en dan val dit vinnig ineen. As u probeer terugsny, kry u baie sterk drange of kry u selfs onttrekking. En onthou dat dit van toepassing kan wees op styselryke kosse, sowel as frietjies, want die hoë styselryke kos bevat baie koolhidrate wat tot suikers afbreek. Laat ons dus praat oor hoe u u suiker kan verminder. U kan altyd probeer om koue kalkoen te stop , maar dit sal waarskynlik nie werk nie, want dit is net te moeilik. Wat u wil doen, is om u smaakknoppies weer op te lei sodat u hartige kosse verkies, en u kan dit doen deur die voedsel stadig met die bygevoegde suikers uit te skakel. Dit sal vereis dat u etikette lees en dat u na die lees van etikette wil soek na een van die volgende items, wat u kan vertel dat u voedsel suiker bygevoeg het. En sommige van hierdie dinge is agave-nektar, bruinrysstroop, koringstroop met hoë fruktose, dekstrose, ingedampte suikerriet, laktose, moutstroop, melasse en sukrose. Sommige suikers word nou as gesonder soorte suiker of minstens gesonder as tafelsuiker beskou, omdat dit meer voedingstowwe bevat en minder verfyn is. Tafelsuiker word deur suikerriet of suikerbiet verfyn, terwyl heuning en agave-nektar gewoonlik meer in hul oorspronklike vorm verbruik word, wat dit gesonder en minder verfyn maak. Maar laat u nie mislei om te dink dat u ‘n goeie skuif gemaak het nie, omdat u van tafelsuiker na organiese rou heuning oorgeskakel het, ten minste nie as u die suikerinname probeer verminder nie. Suikersuiker en al wat u regtig gedoen het, is om een vorm van suiker deur ‘n ander vorm van suiker te vervang, selfs al bevat die ander vorm meer voedingstowwe. Onthou byna al die verpakkings, dit bevat ‘n soort suiker, en dit kan dinge soos middagete vleis of bevrore maaltye of selfs ontbytwors wees. So dit ‘n paar dissipline en werk sal neem om hierdie dinge uit jou dieet te verwyder, maar net soos met enige gewoonte dit sal makliker en meer roetine en outomatiese vir jy die meer wat jy dit .So doen hoe oor probeer hierdie; dit is ‘n goeie begin. Probeer u koolhidraat-hoë-suiker-ete gedurende die volgende maand vervang deur iets nader aan die hele kos. So byvoorbeeld as jy gewoond is om te eet roosterbrood met konfyt vir ontbyt of bagel of muffin, probeer toe te voeg in of selfs vervang wat met ‘n gekookte eier. As u proteïene en gesonde vette byvoeg , raak u vinniger tevrede en verloor u die behoefte om die hoë soet maaltyd te wil vul. Die idee is dus dat as jy gouer versadig raak, sal jy nie meer roosterbrood nodig hê of lus wees om tevrede te voel nie. Dit is dus ‘n woord oor suikervervangers as u u suikerinname drasties wil verminder, wil u dit nie vervang of suikervervangers gebruik nie. Hoekom? Omdat suikervervangers soos stevia, aspartaam, agave, byvoorbeeld, hou dit steeds vir u kos. Dit help nie u smaakknoppies herstel nie, en dit is regtig wat u moet doen. Maar nog belangriker, suikervervangers is gekoppel aan metaboliese sindroom, en ek sal daarna verwys in die beskrywing. Metaboliese sindroom is ‘n stel simptome wat hoë bloeddruk, hoë bloedsuiker, hoë cholesterol en maagvet insluit. En as u enige of veral al hierdie toestande het, verhoog dit die risiko om diabetes en hartsiektes te ontwikkel. Om dus ‘n paar dieetkos per dag te drink, beteken nie dat u die suikeroorlog gewen het nie. In werklikheid het jy pas van een gif na ‘n ander oorgeskakel . As u dus u suikerinname gaan verminder, moet u die hele pad deurloop. Gaan vol boot. Moenie op die suikervervangers staatmaak nie . U sal dit dus geleidelik moet doen, en u kan begin met die groot dinge soos die nageregte en dan geleidelik die verwerkte voedsel met die toegevoegde suikers daarin uitskakel . Nou moet u die stap neem, want as u dit nie uitskakel nie, verwyder u die verwerkte voedsel, dan is u steeds lus vir die nageregte en ander soet voedsel waarvan u regtig hard gewerk het . My laaste punt is dat u wel u verwagtinge moet realiseer. Dit is nie moontlik om geen suiker te verbruik nie. Ons kry steeds fruktose van vrugte en glukose as gevolg van die afbreek van koolhidrate soos groente en grane. Wat u dus hier probeer doen of bereik, is om die toegevoegde suikerbronne te verminder sodat u nie meer suiker verbruik nie. En sodra u gewoond is daaraan om slegs die natuurlike suikers wat in vrugte en groente voorkom, te verbruik , is dit moeilik om die toegevoegde suiker wat u uit die verwerkte voedsel kry, te verdra . En dit sal ‘n wonderlike plek wees om te wees waar dinge net te suiker smaak en jy dit nie eers meer wil hê nie. Ek hoop dat u hiermee kan vorder. Ek werk nog self daaraan. Small aside: what % of the US population has experienced a “runner’s high?” 10-12% 😊 yet we throw this term around as if everyone knows what it means.
The reason sugar is added (under 60+ different names) to our processed foods is because we crave it and that SELLS food products. Also the different names are used to disguise it and because the food industry will always default to the very cheapest inputs to make their un-healthful products.
Sugar and alcohol are metabolized the same way and both lead to fatty liver. See "Metabolical".
Because my health had an issue or two at 48 years of age, and because I'd studied nutrition intensely (as only the ADHD can do) for several weeks if not months; I quit refined foods: sugar, oils, flours, and animal products COLD TURKEY one day. I did it my way, but it's a variation of the WFPB way of eating.
Last month marked TEN YEARS of an improved life with my same eating plan (which is flexible-but dominated by whole plant foods). I love it. Eating better has really changed my life. The rest of the world eats really really poorly.
Fast food = slow, lingering, complicated death with sure loss of cognition long before lights out.
That's not optimal. I'm on a different path. I'm 58 now and not one Rx needed or taken in years.
'I've stopped adding sugar to my coffee. Now, I drink coffee for half the day and tea the other half. and add way way to much sugar, I have for almost 50 years. Someone suggested adding real cream instead. I've been doing that and cut out the junk food for the last 2 days now. ATM I keep getting up every couple minutes and walking into the kitchen in search of…. Sugar? Then it hit me, I'm having withdrawals. I'm not even hungry, just craving.

I think the way to go is to stay away from processed food as much as possible. It may be cheaper (sometimes it's not!), but in the long run, saving on medical bills is very much worth the switch. Whole foods, non starchy veg, meat fish and dairy if you can tolerate it, and stick to berries for fruit. It's not a one size fits all but it helps. You really have to eliminate the sweet stuff cause it still brings back the cravings. Taking electrolytes helps the withdrawal symptoms from sugar. Thanks for your video. Well said.
I highly recommend going cold turkey 😂 doing it gradually won't help. It's like saying to alcoholi to reduce amount of beers he consume. It won't work. Also, replacing sugary foods is difficult because you won't feel full for awhile. Your body will act out. I had a horrible month without refine sugar but it is slowly getting better and some weight melt off. The struggle is real!

The key here is to eat REAL, one ingredient foods. Stay away from food that causes insulin spikes such as fruits, carbs like bread, pastry, rice, etc.
Quitting sugar is HARD around day 4-5 but it’s worthy if you push through!
Guess I'm lucky, cold turkey ing added sugar wasn't a problem for me. No bread, no problem. Totally revamped my diet. Only sugar intake now is from fruit/berries. Drink a ton of water every day, pretty much water only in fact. Used to put away a pint of ice cream nightly. Two months in and 20 lbs lighter. Eating healthy isn't cheap unfortunately but I feel it is well worth the cost.

Can anyone give me details on what they eat . I don't cook and eat same thing all the time when on keto . Eggs and meat . Always eat junk food , fast and easy . That is how I would like to eat on keto too . Don't like to take time to prepare meals . 😢
Somebody tell or ask Dr. Tracy Marx is there anybody in the United States that is not addicted to sugar because the last time I checked doctors gave pregnant women or give pregnant women some form of sugar at some point in time in their trimester phases and it causes the baby to start to eat away at the placenta. I read that in a scientific article many years ago, not to mention the Similac milk/formulathat damn near everybody gives their newborn babies in the United States of America. Shouldn’t this be a crime that they are committing or some form of assault that they are committing on the population in the United States yes or no.
I switched to keto and don't feel any significant sugar cravings. when I was just on a low-carb diet, I had huge cravings. Looks pretty absurd, but it's true.
I was eating super badly, many sweets/carbs/starchy foods a day. I went nearly cold turkey, and I got physically ill. I say nearly because I was still eating fruit, hot cocoa on a cold day, and maple syrup. But I started eating a lot of vegetables. Bleah! I got dizzy and nauseous and exhausted and depressed. Awful
I’ve been clean from drugs and alcohol for 2 years but I could not kick this sugar addiction. Cookies, chocolate ice cream were my favorites. It’s been a week now sugar free and I think I got it this time. It’s been hard
Read labels! There are brands of pasta sauce and ketchups, etc that don’t contain sugar.
Speaking as a former opiate abuser, sugar is 100% an addiction.
I don't like that she says sugar is not addictive even if that's by psychiatric standards. / When will doctors be open about how it can be as hard or harder than drugs. Real physical pain plus depression fatigue and despair.
I quit opiates 8 years ago cold turkey. I quit carbs 3 days ago cold turkey. I basically feel the same but to a lesser degree
