This Men's Health Month, Permanente Medicine cardiologist Dr. Ben Galper reminds men (and everyone!) that there are many ways to take charge of their heart health.
Did you know that heart disease is one of the leading causes of death among men? It's never too late to take control and make heart health a priority. Here are some simple yet impactful steps you can take to show your heart some love:
1️⃣ Move your body: Incorporate regular physical activity into your routine. Whether it's a walk around the block, going for a run, or playing your favorite sport, get your heart pumping and improve its strength.
2️⃣ See your doctor and know your numbers: Schedule regular check-ups with your healthcare provider. Monitor your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and blood sugar. Understanding these numbers empowers you to take control of your heart health.
3️⃣ Watch your diet: Opt for heart-healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Cut down on processed foods, excessive salt, and sugary drinks. Your heart will thank you for nourishing it with the right fuel!
