hormones are chemical Messengers in the body that carry information to cells tissues and different glands and tell them what to do and when to do it there are a myriate different hormones in our body and they create a beautiful Symphony in the body but even if one hormone goes out of balance it can lead to a state of hormonal chaos in the body in this video I am going to be talking about five foods that are important to maintain good hormonal balance if you are interested keep watching [Music] hi everyone my name is nirupama I am a PhD in food science and a certified nutrition coach for us to achieve Optimal Health and to feel our best each hormone needs to be doing its job correctly I have a whole different video on the many different reasons why our hormones might not be doing their job correctly I'll link it down below in the description box however in most cases it has been seen that the primary reason for a hormonal imbalance in the body is poor diet and lifestyle choices good diet and nutrition is key to maintaining good hormonal balance in the body and that's exactly what we are going to talk about today five foods that will help you maintain good hormonal balance in the body let's get started estrogen is considered the queen bee of hormones but when estrogen becomes dominant in the body it can lead to signs and symptoms such as heavy and painful periods bad PMS abnormal weight gain acne mood swings or fibroids one way to detoxify excess estrogen in the body is to power up on cruciferous vegetables cruciferous vegetables include broccoli cabbage cauliflower mustard greens or sarso sag radish and turnips these vegetables contain a compound called indole three carbinol which helps in pushing estrogen through its detoxification phases and thereby helps in getting rid of excess estrogen in the body so cruciferous vegetables can really help in bringing back your hormonal balance it is important to remember that if you are facing any thyroid related issues it is advisable to cook your cruciferous vegetables well before consuming foreign s are made of cholesterol and our body makes enough cholesterol when we are consuming enough fats and the right kind of fats it is important to focus on consuming healthy fats from sources such as nuts seeds cold pressed oils eggs or fatty fish these foods contain ample amount of essential fatty acids like Omega-3s and omega-6s that can only be got from the diet lack of essential fatty acids puts us at a risk of hormonal chaos in the body essential fatty acids are also required to lower the state of inflammation in the body which helps hugely in relieving symptoms of PMS foreign fiber helps to naturally detoxify estrogen in our body fiber also indirectly helps our hormonal Health by feeding the good microbiota in our gut since a healthy microbiota is linked to the function of our hormones our immune function our metabolism and so much more therefore it is very important to prioritize enough fiber intake in our diet fiber falls into two categories the first is known as soluble fiber which is found in foods like oatmeal barley legumes bananas and vegetables like beans carrots pumpkin potatoes and sweet potatoes soluble fiber is important because it helps in lowering the risk of estrogen dominance in the body and also helps in feeding the good microbiota in our gut the other kind of fiber is known as insoluble fiber which is found in foods like whole wheat nuts beans and vegetables like cauliflower green peas and leafy greens foreign fruits like berries papaya mango jamun and colored vegetables like pumpkin beans carrot leafy greens contain ample amounts of polyphenolic compounds and antioxidants and these polyphenols and antioxidants help in combating inflammation in our body this is important because inflammation can be a leading cause of hormonal chaos in the body therefore it is good to keep a track of how many colored fruits and vegetables you consume in a day and keep the number as high as possible spices and herbs are known for their healing properties in ayurveda current scientific investigations have also corroborated the anti-inflammatory properties of herbs and spices among the most commonly studied spices and herbs include turmeric black pepper ginger garlic saffron ashwagandha thyme chamomile and the holy basil or Tulsi but it is important to remember that spices and herbs are like double edged swords they're anti-inflammatory properties are accompanied by the fact that they are also rich in anti-nutrients or toxicants which when consumed in excess can lead to other health complications hence it is important to consume spices in a time-tested way and in a way that makes sense for example raw ginger can be used in small amounts in chutneys or for making teas turmeric can be used for making turmeric milk or the Raw turmeric can be used for making a turmeric sabzi if you want to know more about how to use turmeric in your foods I What about Broccoli, Cabbage and Cauliflower…..not good for Thyroid…i suffer from Hypothyroidism since the age of 35 and now im 59….past 2 years have been so bad……low immunity, out of the blues chronic fissures….had Angiography done last year but reports were normal, this is so sad😢……really fed up….and now i know that after taking so much care…(not having processed foods, no alcohol, no cold drinks, no mutton as red meat not good for thyroid, no outside food….chicken once a month…..fish is my staple diet)…that too twice a week….now what else 😢🙏
