(gentle music) There's a powerful quote about perspective: “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” Gratitude is one of those very profound tools that you can use to change
your perspective on life and thus change your entire life. It helps you transform your
life into one of more joy, peace, positivity, and love. It really is a perspective
shift that can feel so simple and yet can change everything. It can really attract so much
abundance into your life, so much love, joy, and peace into your life. Whatever you want more of, simply find gratitude for all the good things you already have, and that in itself will
attract more of what you want. It will attract more good things. Hello, my loves. Welcome back to Lavendaire. It's Aileen. And today we are talking about gratitude, why it is so powerful. And I'll share six gratitude practices that can transform your perspective and thus transform your life. So if you're new here, this is the last video in our “Transform Your Life Series.” We've been making videos since November every single week on how
to transform our lives in all the areas. And today I'm excited to wrap it all up in a pretty bow with gratitude. A very simple practice, but
a very important practice. Gratitude is essentially
the foundation to happiness. It's the foundation to a positive outlook on life. And if you can simply change
the way you see things, you'd be surprised at how
much of your life does change, how much you change in the process. Before we dive in, I wanna
share that we have a free Notion template worksheet that you can use along with this video. I'll be sharing a lot of gratitude practices, and then you get to implement those practices in the worksheet. So that link to the worksheet is down below. It's essentially a template on Notion that you can duplicate. And that page also has all the worksheets to all of our other videos in the “Transform Your Life Series.” If you haven't checked out the series already, I'll link it here and down below so you can watch the whole thing. So let's start with why gratitude is so powerful and why it's essentially necessary for a joyful and abundant life. So gratitude is living with the mindset that you are grateful; you are thankful for everything in your life. The more that you find to be grateful for, the more that you will find
there is to be grateful for. It's one of those things, like, more will create more. (laughs) Like, the more you focus
on it, the more it grows. So it's not just about learning
to say thank you to people or anything. It's really like a way of being where you are thankful for every single thing. Like, literally as much as you can truly, honestly, be thankful for, right? You wake up, I'm thankful for the sun, I'm thankful for the air I breathe, or I'm thankful for this food that I get to eat. I'm thankful for the people and anything that went into preparing this food so that I can eat it. I'm thankful for my life. I'm thankful for my family, my friends, the things that I have, the clothes that I wear. I'm thankful for where I live. Like, there are so many
things to be thankful for and it really is unlimited. But living in this way, where you are practicing gratitude daily as if it's a mindset, it's a way of being, that perspective transforms completely how you feel about yourself and your life and the environment around you. Because I think a lot of people
live in the opposite states. A lot of people live in the
state of lack and criticism and come complaining, right? You might find that you are complaining about all these things, or you're blaming things for why you're unhappy with your life. You're focusing on what's going wrong. A lot of people tend to focus on what they don't want in their life. They're focusing on what's going wrong instead of focusing on what's going right or the things that they do want in their life that they already have in their life. So all it is is a perspective shift. Instead of looking at the negative, you're looking at the positive. Of course, looking at the positive doesn't erase the negative, right? There's obviously things that you're not completely happy with, things that could be better. Things happen, right? Things exist in your life that are not ideal; that's totally fine. You don't have to ignore it. Gratitude is not about ignoring or avoiding what you don't like. It's about appreciating all the things that you do have in your
life that you do like, right? Things that you can be grateful for. So simply, I'm grateful for functioning arms, hands, legs, and feet, right? Because not everyone has that privilege. It's finding the things that you already have that you're grateful for, and that perspective shift is so powerful. Okay, so now I'm gonna go
into all the different ways, like the practices and techniques that you can use to implement
gratitude in your everyday so that you develop a gratitude mindset. Essentially, we're trying to
change the way you look at life by doing these practices that
you can do every single day. The first practice is daily gratitude journaling. And this is one of those easiest, very popular ways to integrate
gratitude into your life. Every day, find some time to journal just, like, a list of things that you're grateful for. It could be a short list or a long list. It's up to you. I would say try to do at least three to five things that you're grateful for every single day and make them different every day. And with those items that you list, try to be as specific as possible. Like, it's easy to be general. I'm grateful for life, I'm grateful for my family, but be specific. What about life? What about your family? Like, get detailed because
the more detailed you get, the more you're gonna find
things to be grateful for. And it really feels endless and abundant. And the goal really is to, like, have that mindset of gratitude so that you're attracting abundance, attracting more abundance, more of the good that you want in your life. Practice number two: try
going on gratitude walks. So this is just combining
gratitude with walking, and you're getting some movement, right? So it's like moving while
being present with yourself and your environment around you. And as you're walking, you
can start to reflect on what you are grateful for in your life. It can be something you're
grateful for in the environment, like I'm grateful for nature, the great weather, or whatever. Or it could be really reflective, and you can think about all the areas of life, all the specific things that you are grateful for. So the fact that you're
integrating multiple things, movement, mindfulness, gratitude, I feel like this is a great practice for anyone who likes to utilize their body. And, like, I feel like when you move your body, you get the energy going, you
get the blood circulating, and then you just feel better overall, right? After physically working out. But also, like, mentally, emotionally, like, you're focusing on
gratitude, so you feel great. Practice number three is to
try sending gratitude letters or messages to the people in
your life that you really love or people who have really
impacted you in a positive way. I think it's really rare for
people to write kind messages just out of the blue just
because they felt like it, right? I feel like most people feel
like they need a reason to, but why do you need a reason
to say something nice? Why do you need a reason to thank someone after how they've helped you? And I think no matter what, just the intention of doing this it already will make someone so happy. Like, it'll literally make their day. And it's such an act of
kindness and an act of love to spend some of your energy and your time to be grateful for a person for whatever reason that you're grateful for. So yeah, this is a very beautiful practice to try because not only does it
involve you and how you feel and shifting your perspective on how you see the people in your life, but you're helping someone else shift into that energy of gratitude as well. Because when someone receives
gratitude, they feel grateful, and then that gratitude is
reciprocated oftentimes, and that's love, right? Like, that connection, and it's a beautiful thing. So don't underestimate writing
kind messages of gratitude to the people who deserve it. Practice number four is gratitude reframe. So this is for if you are going through a challenge in your life or
you're meeting some resistance or something is just difficult, right? It's not flowing smoothly. And your natural response
would be to get negative, would be to complain, or get
frustrated, or whatever, right? But a gratitude reframe is simply to acknowledge the situation and to find the gratitude in it, right? Whether it is, “Oh, this challenging situation is teaching me resilience, and so I am grateful for that,” right? Like, there's always some silver lining, there's always some lesson that can come out of a challenging experience. I'm not saying ignore the challenge, or I'm not saying that it's not difficult or it's not painful, because it is, right? But there is pain, but there is also, like, the joy, the lesson, the resilience, the strength, whatever it is, you can find something good out of any terrible situation. And so I think that is, like, really helpful to help you reframe the experiences of your life, whether it's looking at something in the past where you looked at it in a negative light. Well, what can you be grateful
for in that situation? Yeah, it was shitty, but what part of it can you be grateful for? Because it's not completely bad, right? There's a spectrum of experiences. I don't even know if you
wanna call things good or bad because it's not black and white that way, but it's what can you be grateful for? Or what is this teaching you? Like, for example, you can simply look at a difficult situation and be like, “Thank you
for teaching me patience. Thank you for teaching me
strength and resilience. Thank you for building me into a stronger version of myself.” I think no matter what, there's some good that comes out of it. Something that you can find to be grateful for. Practice number five is gratitude visualization. So this is where you take
some time to close your eyes and visualize and feel all the things that you are grateful for. And this could be everything that you're grateful for in the now. And it can also be everything that you're grateful for in
the future that is coming and it's on its way to you. So this is a way to manifest the future life that you want. The future you that you wanna
bring to the current reality is to visualize and feel with your body, that feeling of gratitude for
all the things that you have, all the things that you are
so grateful for in your life. The more you can do this, the
faster you kind of attract those things in your life. ‘Cause you'll notice that if you focus on certain things that you're grateful for, as you go about life, you're gonna notice that more in your life. Like, “Oh, I'm grateful for my friendships. Oh, they're so supportive and kind and loving.” And then, if you focus on that, you're gonna go about your
life and you're gonna notice, “Oh, my gosh, like, I do have
friends who care about me. I do have friends who are
so kind and supportive.” Like, you start to see more of it because that's just how our brains are wired. Like, the more we focus on something and we make it known that we're aware of it, the more we see it. Practice number six: gratitude anchors. So this is where you pick one moment or multiple moments from your day, and when you're doing that thing, you take a moment to be
grateful for something. So, for example, you can
pick brushing my teeth. So if that's your gratitude anchor, every time I brush my
teeth, I am taking that time to think of what I'm grateful for. You can do this at any point of your day, anything that is recurring because you want to kind of, like, tack it on. It's kind of like habit stacking, like you're picking an activity or a habit, and then you're stacking
the gratitude perspective and the gratitude practice on top of it. So it could be while you're making your bed, it could be before your
meals or during your meals. It could be when you see nature, then, like, every time I see nature, I think about what I'm grateful for. Every time I see a sunset, I think about what I'm grateful for. And really, you can do this
at any point of your day. The more you incorporate
gratitude into your day, into your lifestyle, the more that mindset and perspective is going to be ingrained in you. And the more of a grateful person you are, the more beautiful, positive
things you're going to attract. Like, you're literally gonna
be a very powerful manifester the more grateful you are. I think those two things are directly correlated because, again, law of attraction is that like energy attracts like energy. So if you have the energy of gratitude, then you're gonna attract
more things in your life for you to be grateful for. So that's the basic concept. I shared six practices today that you can try to integrate
gratitude into your life. Let me know down below in the comments which practice are you going to try next? Which one appeals to you? Which one seems like it's doable or fun? Let me know down below. So don't forget that we have
this Notion template worksheet that you can do along with this video to help you start to try
these gratitude practices. And also, if you haven't seen the other videos in the
“Transform Your Life Series,” definitely go back to the beginning and watch through the whole series because this series is so good. Literally, we covered all the different angles. Like, so many angles on how to transform your life this year. And honestly, tell me if
you watched all the videos; tell me if you worked on all the exercises and the worksheets. I wanna know because I wanna know, has your life been transforming? Like, I literally wanna
know what are your feedback? What are your results? How do you feel about your life right now after going through these
videos and these exercises? I really hope that it helped. Let me know down below what other videos you'd like to see from me. I think I'm gonna try to do monthly series, so maybe, like, each month, I'll focus on, like, videos in a certain theme. Thanks so much for watching,
sending you so much love, and I will see you in the next one. Bye. (jazz music)
