hello my friends welcome to my channel if you're new here my name is ELISA and today we are talking about potions / adaptogens I use these all the time in my wedding in a day videos and I've been getting a ton of questions so I thought that we would do a complete video dedicated to adaptogens I'm going to talk to you about what they are where you can find them my favorite brands and I'm going to show you the eight ones that I love the most basically you can think of this as a beginner guide to adaptogens or an adaptogens 101 class so let's just go ahead and dive in to all the world of adaptogens so first let's talk about what adaptogen are and you can think of them essentially as herbs or medicinal mushrooms those are the two main things that they are that respond restore and kind of optimize your body's functions and really what that means is that they adjust or adapt to any sort of internal or external stressors in your body or in your environment and helped your body adapt to be more regular so they are kind of a supplement that you can add into your diet and they'll help you deal with stress and what I mean by stress is not just the emotional stress or physical stress that we might feel but also things like inflammation immune system things those things all caused internal stress so we're talking about stressors in general that may affect your body and dokdo genic herbs and medicinal mushrooms can help your body cope and help your body deal and help your body kind of normalize I do a few personal tips on how you can best use adaptogens in your diet I find that some of them have a very strong taste so I like to add them into my matcha in the morning you could also add them into coffee or I like adding them into smoothies I don't like to cook with them because heating them too high can end up ruining some of their medicinal properties and then I also recommend that you guys don't try incorporating more than one or two at a time in a specific recipe so you don't want to kind of overload your system with adaptogens because they kind of counteract the so if you're really trying to get the benefit and the most benefit out of your adaptogenic powders then I definitely recommend you stick with one maybe two in your recipes at a time so the other thing that I recommend is that you change it up and you don't necessarily have to change it every single day but try not to have the same specific adaptogens or the exact same formula every single day I also recommend that you take probably one day off a week and then try to take a whole week off every like six to eight weeks just to kind of give your body a break and give your body a time to normalize without getting in these supplements and then the final thing that I have to recommend as you're incorporating adaptogens into your diet and into your recipes is that you should choose the adaptogen that fits with where you are in your life or the symptoms that you're dealing with so we're gonna talk about my eight favorites and they all have different properties and they help in different ways so the way that I use them is I kind of think about what I'm dealing with during that day or that week and I will choose an adaptogen that will help me cope with whatever stressor is going on so whether you're dealing with an emotional stress or you feel like a cold is coming on maybe you're feeling really low energy you can choose a different adaptogenic powder to kind of fit with your symptom at the time and help support your body in that way so I have two main brands that I really like for adoption like powders the first is called root and bones and they have four that are on my list today they sell four of them and then the other brand that I'm sure many of you have heard of if you follow me on Instagram or you follow other health and wellness people on Instagram is called Sun potion and Sun potion has a ton of adaptogen powders and they have some that Rutten bones carries but they also have others that they don't so those are the two brands that I like so if you want to buy root and bones that is direct from their website and I will put their link in the description box below I also do have a coupon code so if you guys want to try their powders I think it's a great way to get started and then the other place that I like to buy my adaptogen powders is actually on thrive market and I talked about thrive market a lot this video is not served by anybody but they have some potion on thrive market and it's super cheap I mean in comparison to what you would see on Amazon or on the Sun potion website so it's definitely a great way to try some of the main adaptogens and that's where I have bought all of the ones that I have in my cupboard I've bought all of the Sun potions on thrive market so my number one favorite adaptogen and the one that I eat almost every single day or I put into my matcha almost every single day is ashwagandha ashwagandha is a root and the powder that I like is from Sun potion and I will link like I've said I'll link everything in the description box below but ashwagandha is a classic and kind of very ancient herb or root that is used traditionally in era Vedic medicine and it has tons of amazing properties so ashwagandha has a whole kind of slew of things that it can do to help support your body the first is that it can help support your immune system it can also give you energy kind of kind of mimic those feelings of vigor and strength and vitality but it can also kind of calm you down so if you have it at night it will kind of do the reverse and it will calm you down which is one of the amazing things about adaptogens is that they adapt to where you are right so if you take ashwagandha in the morning and then that will help to give you with some energy and then if you take it at night it will kind of help you calm down and help you sleep so that is what's incredible about adaptogenic powders ashwagandha is also great because it helps to balance hormones and it really helps deal with all forms of stress in the body so whether that's physical emotional or just internal stressors ashwagandha is an amazing thing to incorporate into your diet and like I mentioned I like the Sun potion brand and I actually have purchased other ones on Amazon and I didn't really do my research ahead of time I just like picked whatever one sounded good I think it was organic and I got it and I would take it every single morning but it literally tasted disgusting it was so bad like I can't even tell you how bad it tasted and I've heard others complain of that before and what I realized is that I think it's the form of ashwagandha that they are using so I highly recommend that you guys if you want to try Ostrava banda is you get the one from sun potion because i can't taste it in my matcha at all it has if anything it has a tiny bit of sweetness to it and like i mentioned it has amazing properties so i've linked that one specifically in the description box below i buy on thrive and you can get a good discount on it so i definitely recommend you guys check that one out if you're interested so the next one is reishi and I love reishi it's a medicinal mushroom it's been used for thousands of years it's known as the mushroom of immortality and it has a ton of really great benefits it's not only anti-inflammatory but it also is immune modulating so it kind of helps boost your immune system and helps like keep you healthy it also has some anti-aging properties it's high in antioxidants and it doesn't have a strong flavor the one that I like is from root and bones and I've linked it below if you want to check it out I really like adding reishi into my chocolate smoothies and it just has this really like nice complement to the chocolate flavor also if you like mocha smoothies it's another great option to add into that number three is astragalus and that's a hard one for me to say but this one is an herb and it is primarily meant to help with stress reduction so it has been shown in some studies to help lower the amount of cortisol receptors the amount that the cortisol can bind to the receptors meaning the way that cortisol can kind of act in your body so it doesn't necessarily help to reduce the amount of cortisol hormone in your body but it helps to reduce the effects of it which is amazing so this one is one that I personally take if I'm feeling on edge so if something with work is just feeling making me feel really overwhelmed if I have a lot going on in my life if I'm just feeling generally stressed out from external forces so not necessarily fighting a cold or anything like that if there's something in my environment that it's making me feel stressed I like to add stragglers into my smoothies I don't like adding it into matcha because I feel like it has a kind of strong taste so this is definitely one that I added to my smoothies and the one that I use is from some potion I get it on thrive market and like all of these it's linked below if you want to check it out so number four is cordyceps and cordyceps are a medicinal mushroom that are used to help boost immune system and also help prevent aging and improve longevity so it has kind of a two-fold benefit and I like it when I'm feeling kind of down and out it's great if you're feel like you're coming on with a cold if you have general feelings of fatigue but it also has those anti-aging properties so it's really high in antioxidants so the one that I like I get from root and bones but Sun potion also has an option I don't know if it's on thrive market so if you want to check that out you can check the one that I've linked below or you can go to Sun potion comm and check theirs out the next one number five is he Shu Wu and this is hails from Japan and this is another immunity booster it's also great for anti-aging but it also is amazing for your hair your skin and your nails so this one is on the more expensive side I buy the one from root and bones and it's one that I don't take regularly um I like to kind of preserve it because it costs a fair amount of money but I really like adding it into my smoothies so before I end on this one I do want to also mention that he shoe boot was really high in iron and zinc so if you are deficient in either of those minerals this could be a great addition into your diet as a natural supplement and it just is going to give you that little boost of those vital minerals and if especially if you are deficient this is a great option to look into so again linked below if you want to check it out let's move on to number six number six is chaga and chaga is a medicinal mushroom it's known as the king of plants because it has so many amazing benefits it actually grows on birch trees so you might see chocolate just naturally wherever depending on where you live in the world you might see chaga naturally growing on birch trees but I like to buy the one from root and bones it's wild crafted wild harvest and while you can do with chaga which is great is you can turn it into a tea and that actually how they recommend that you consume it is that you brew it and turn it into a tea or an elixir and drink it like that so just like a lot of these other mushrooms chaga is amazing for your immune system and it will not only help boost your immune system but it's also been shown to have some antiviral properties so especially when you're starting to get sick it's a great thing to add you could add it to a smoothie if you wanted but like I mentioned they recommend that you make it into a tea the one that I like is from root and bones and that the last benefit that they mention on the root and bones website is that it also has anti-aging properties so that's just kind of like an added bonus of it but it's really one of those things that you might wanted to think about incorporating into your diet as you have a cold coming on or if you are moving into cold and flu season or if you just feel like your Moon's immune system could use a little boost number seven is rhodiola and this is an ancient Taoist herb so it's a Chinese herb it's been used in Chinese medicine for a really long time and it has a ton of great benefits it not only helps with the immune system and stress like all of these other ones but it also supports mental clarity so it helps you get a little bit more clear and focused it has been shown to support and kind of foster creativity so if you're feeling a little down and out feeling like you're stuck this could be something to add and kind of help get those juices flowing also stamina so if that's an issue for you that's something that you might want to consider and it's also been shown to help with weight balance so if weight is something that you struggle with not saying that this is a fix-all but it could be something that you might want to think about adding as a natural supplement into your diet so the one that I like is from Sun potion I get it on thrive market like all these others I've linked it below and for use I personally like to add it into my smoothies it does have a pretty strong taste not in a bad way like I kind of like the flavor it's almost berry like to me but it because it is strong I like to add it into my smoothies rather than my matcha because I just like the taste of matcha and I don't want it to get ruined so I recommend that you check it out like I said with all of these the link is in the description box below let's move on to our last and final one so number eight is holy basil or Tulsi and this is often seen as an herbal supplement so you'll find them in the little capsules and these have depth genetic properties for stress management also immune system boosting and it's also been shown to increase stamina and endurance so this is one that has been used for thousands of years in again Chinese medicine and herbalism and I personally have just started taking this the one that I got I got on Amazon I will link it below and I'm using it as the pill form so it's something that I might take every other day or maybe just a few times a week depending on how I'm feeling so I definitely recommend that you guys check it out if you're interested and read more about the benefits of it I just personally am not that familiar with it alright my friends I hope you guys found this one helpful like I've mentioned throughout the video all the specific adaptogens that I mentioned are linked below if you want to check them out I've also written an entire blog post so if you felt like I was going a little bit fast and I was talking fast or all of those you can check out that blog post because I've detailed all of the different adaptogen powders in that blog post and you can kind of read more about the benefits of it so that is also linked below I'll also put it up in this corner so you can just click that little eye and that will take you to the blog post and I haven't done a lot of these videos before so if there are other kind of topics that you want me to talk about I think that we could talk about we could do another superfoods one I had one from a long time ago but we could do another superfoods video if you're interested but if there are other topics that you are curious about maybe you're seeing them a lot on Instagram and you aren't really sure where to start let me know in the comment box below I like doing these kind of intro class type videos where I'm enjoying a topic and then we Two of my top 3 favorites Rhodiola Rosea and Sensoril Aswaganda
Are they safe during pregnancy?
ashwaghanda is a bitter herb, if it tastes sweet or good, then it is not pure something was added to it t o make it taste better
Ashwaganda is my favorite supplement but should not be taken everyday. Do your research. And, I recommend the the person of this video to do the same….
Im convinced if you tied her hands together she wouldn’t be able to talk
There not supposed to taste good .. That's why there called BITTERS …bitter roots and herbs the MORE bitter it tastes the BETTER it is
..JUST ADD HONEY

i read somewhere that some adaptogens can cause rashes because of allergic reactions, has this been the case for anyone?
Very informative ! 👌🏻 I just started taking nutrafol and I’m dealing with lots of stress. I’m a healthcare worker . I’ve lacked in self care for years now and in my journey to be mindful of myself and becoming healthier.
Great video by sweet girl
Hello! I LOVED this video, thanks for the info! However, he shou wu is not from Japan.. it’s Chinese
Thank you for compiling the information very helpful.
It works like aspirin function.
how bout a vid about using Matcha? I've bought several products but I think they were not that good!
Just started using mushrooms but I've long been a fan of ashwagandha! Enjoyed the video! Thanks! Oh and I.ve used Astragalus every day to strengthen my immunity. I haven't had a cold or flu for many , many years ( I"m 67)
and I credit this herb!
i have been taking rhodiola and ashwaganda strait from the jar about 2 to four tablespoons a day sometimes more for a few years now and i feel that it helps with healing after surgery and getting up in the morning to a clearer mind set and love the taste of both herbs
Do these mushroom powders make you high or can you take them without having the psychedelic properties in the mushroom?
Astragalus you said interfere with cortisol. Does it interfere with progesterone because they use the same pathways?
Try Gotu Kola, for me it's the best adaptogen 😄
Holy basil originates from India and not China please check✔️
Really helpful. Thanks 🙏🏻
Is this unqualified medical advice?
Very informative.. thankyou
Sun potion website says it no longer carries rhodiola. Sad. What other brand of rhodiola do you recommend?
Your super cute !!!
Took Rhodiola and Ashwaganda for months and even changed brands. Never felt a difference.
Wow
Thank you so much!
Hi ,Simply Q,try these in tincture form. It's concentrated ,dilute in water to drink. Acts fast.
Actually you got it wrong about geting more then 2 adaptogen at the time is bad . i took about 6 different and will take more . little dosage of each one get very well absorb synergically and you will get the benefit. Secret of king in history , they were taking lots of them. When you are in your 20 s , you dont need much to have benefit. but when you past 30 s your body need more to actually keep the hormone working well. Just like everything , taking days off and weeks off after 3 month is suggested to let the body adapte to normal stress. but for beginner s for shure , dont start with more then 2.
If you are taking capsules, do you take them with food or far away from eating?
I use a variety, I use a sleep formula from gaia herbs to help me fall asleep, reishi and ashwagandha seem to work the best for sleep. As far as during the day I do take capsules and a combination of adaptogens in them. I use one recommended to me by a naturopath called A-Drenal.
whats is education background ?? Disclose it by VIDEO INtro
Ashwaganda all day. It helped get me back to normal after losing my shit for months due to an h-pilori infection. Thought I was losing my mind with depression and ridiculous anxiety which I never suffered from before. Kickstarted my recovery with Briggs Apple cider vinegar and followed it up with a steady dose of ashwaganda daily. Got me back to normal thankfully.
you forgot turmeric
6:46 a bit of sweetness? that's a red flag.
Would you guys recommend GT's Matcha Vanilla kombucha drink for anxiety and weight loss?
gtslivingfoods.com/offering/alive/matcha-vanilla/
Adaptogens do not counteract one another. They actually can be taken in a stack and can be very beneficial and can help enhance one another. Wondering the background on this?
No mention of potential side effects.. overall good video I love that you explain how everything tastes, however it is important to present all sides of any product (positives and negatives), many people believe that simply because it comes from natural resources it has no negative side effects, however this is not always the case.. Just a suggestion.
