foreign medicine Made Easy in today's video we're going to be covering eight important clinical signs that are associated with an underactive thyroid which is also known as hypothyroidism in this video you're going to see lots of real clinical photos to help you learn about these different Signs Now remember the thyroid gland is a small gland that sits at the front of the neck and when it becomes under active you have reduced amounts of the hormone thyroxine there are lots of different causes of hypothyroidism and I won't name them all but they include things such as autoimmune disease inflammation of the thyroid which is known as thyroiditis iodine deficiency as well as side effects from medications amongst others so without further Ado let's cover the eight clinical signs that you might see in someone with hypothyroidism and please remember that just because you might have one or two of these signs does not necessarily mean you have a hypothyroidism so number one is something called eczema crackly or acetotic eczema this is basically a form of dermatitis in which there's crazy Paving splitting of the surface of the skin it usually begins as dry skin and as the disease becomes more severe the skin can crack and cause fissures these fishes are the result of water loss from the surface of the skin it typically occurs especially in winter months when the skin is more at risk for becoming dry and it is more common in the elderly the eruption can typically occur on any skin area but it most often presents on the front and side aspects of the lower legs but it can also be present on the back trunk and arms now management of this is usually with emollients and topical steroids and of course treatment of the underlying hypothyroidism now the second clinical sign to be aware of are cold peripheries with pale and dry coarse skin often this dryness is due to decreased sweating though the exact connection between the thyroid and sweat glands is unclear now moving on let's discuss clinical sign number three and this is a yellowish Hue to the skin which is secondary to keratotenoderma now peritone Derma is the yellow orange discoloration skin due to carotene me which is a condition where the blood level of beta-carotene is above the normal range now this is not just found in hypothyroidism it can also be seen in other conditions like diabetes liver disease and kidney disease and it's important not to get it mixed up with jaundice which can look quite similar now I've included more information on this sign in the description box of the video if you want to do some extra reading clinical sign at number four is sparse and brittle hair which can come out in handfuls you may have noticed that your hair feels more dry or coarse than normal and this can be a sign of hypothyroidism linked to this is number five which is loss of hair in the outer third of the eyebrows which you can see in the following photos again treatment for this is to treat the underlying hypothyroidism clinical sign six is slow growing or rigid and brittle nails perhaps the primary reason that this occurs is that every system in your body slows down when there's not enough thyroid hormone therefore the skin doesn't renew as quickly the hair growth cycle is suppressed and nail growth is slowed and compromised in regards to nail growth well ridges can form when cellular turnover slows down allowing keratin cells to build up before they have a chance to grow out number seven is something called mixed edema this can occur in long-standing cases of hypothyroidism or severe hypothyroidism resulting in puffy face eyelids legs and feet now mix edema describes a specific form of tissue swelling due to deposition of cutaneous tissue which you can see in these photos and finally people with hypothyroidism may have delayed wound healing other common symptoms due to hypothyroidism include weight gain cold intolerance low mood and menstrual disturbances so irregular or heavy periods I've included lots of links in the description box for more information on hypothyroid autism and if you do have any questions please leave them in the comments section below I do try to respond to all questions where possible but please remember this channel is designed as a medical education Channel not an individual clinical advice Channel if you do have individual clinical questions about your own health please consult your own doctor I hope you learned something new and interesting in today's video if you did please remember to like the video subscribe to the channel if you haven't done so already and until next time thanks for watching and bye [Music] foreign [Music]

My hypothyroidism medicine make my hands and feet overstimulate I have terrible sweaty hands & feet !
Can hyperthyroidism cause skin conditions like hives, urticaria, darkened nails, with black lines on nails ?
1 iodine deficiency
2 eczema craquele
3 cold hands & feet, pale, coarse skin
4 carotenaderma
5 thin, brittle hair
6slow-growing, thin, brittle nails
7 myxedema
8 delayed wound healing
He forgot to mention hypothyroid facies. The picture of the man shown for myxedema is a great example.
I just found out that I have under active thyroid. I have a few of the symptoms. It’s just the start of it. I had it since April I guess, I didn’t realize it in the bloodwork I had then. Still the same though from April. It’s 1 point down from the range where it should be.
Living with thyroid issues was an incredibly challenging and painful experience, but I'm deeply grateful for Dr. Okuromi's innovative treatment approach using herbal remedies. His expertise and personalized care helped me effectively manage my thyroid problems, bringing much-needed relief and improving my overall well-being. Thank you, Dr. Okuromi, for your dedication and compassionate approach to healthcare..🥰🥰🥰
Thank you!
Nail ridges….outer 3rd eyebrow loss

I do have the last issue, nail ridges…
But my nails are really strong and require cutting weekly or they become dangerous for me, easily punch a hole through my skin.

I suffer from hypothyroidism and have been prescribed Thyroxine for over 40 years. However, my latest symptom popped up in your video – losing the hairs from my outer eyebrows! Who would have guessed?
Thank you so much for this. Several of my family members have hypothyroidism and I have at least five of these symptoms. I’m told it’s my age (66) but I’m not so sure now. Truly, thank you. 🙏 ❤
WHY will NO doctor prescribe RAW DESSICATED THYROID??? This is the ONLY known method to truly deal with hypothyroidism. The use of LEVOTHYROXINE does NOT address the root cause and allows the disease to continue to destroy the systems of the body;that is, the heart, kidneys, metabolism, and EVERY BODILY FUNCTION!!!!!
I REALLY WANT TO UNDERSTAND!!!
What do you recommended for treatment of Keratoderma on the feet?
ace. thank you very informative
Can swollen hands be a symptom? I have Hashimotos underactive thyroid for close to 17 years. My face sometimes will get a bit swollen as well, but not always at the same time as my hands.
I was diagnose hypothyroidism last i was confused bcause its similar symstom with the kidney so im very scarred right now please help me thnk u
So what it is when hypothyroidism is in an over active thyroid?
Parasites 🎉
2 and 5, maybe a little 6, definitely cold intolerance. Hypopituitarism TSH deficiency, replaced but they do flare up occasionally.
Thank you! I have hypothyroidism and have the majority of these systems… now I know why.
I have most of these
I got rid of hupothyroidism for good by taking 5 drops of Lugol's solution iodine daily. I went from 100mcg to 0 in 18 months.
My basal body temp before i diagnosed myself was 34 instead of 36,1 or 2. My blood test was always normal, but i had the symptoms. Drs don't know why 30% if hypo test normal. I was one of them.
I am 72 and fine and healthy.
It's NOT low thyroid. That's very rare.
It's usually the T3 and T4 not being processed in the liver properly.
Thank you I am on levothyroxine, for many years,. Can you tell me if it runs in families because my son and my maternal Aunt have low thyroid, thanks.
Most interesting. Thanks for sharing!
AND some Drs swear it's all in your head!! Reminds me of something my nurse friend said — A lot of Drs don't want you well– if you're well, how are they gonna get paid??? Now that's something to think about 🤔🤔
My 91 year old mom is a long time type 2 diabetic with underactive thyroid. She has what looks like the exzema craquele condition. We've asked all of her doctors about the condition and absolutely no one could give information about it, not even her endocronologist. I really appreciate that Dr. O'Donovan included it in this list.
Anyone had one side of body swollen and discolored, some pain and tightness?
I apparently have Hypothyroidism, Hashimoto’s.. almost 30 Yrs now ..At 4 months short of my 83 rd yr..I’m still struggling with the heat ,Cold ..No eye brows ,hair falling out ..Hot all night cold all day.. I’m loving the 90 degree weather ,sometimes ,And other times loving the cooler days ..So many ups and downs struggling to find comfort …Some Days just want to pack it in ..Other days so full of energy.. Finding it hard to sit still..Some days tired all Day.. Wake up around 8p.m. When it’s time to sleep..😅😅
I find I gone from a person that had no problem ever sleeping all night ..To someone who Never has a good night sleep..😂😂😂
Got to love these thyroid Drs who think one size fits all..
3.49 TSH.. is not a reason to put someone on Thyroid Medicine ..With out all tests and blood work done by a Specialist..!Iron ,Vitamin D, in the lower levels Losing hair ..😢The first 5 yrs on replacement meds ..My Eyebrows gone ,all body hair ,gone ..Now hair on head is going 😅..Just got to roll with the punches till God calls us home..❤❤❤❤

I have underactive thyroid, im fat, cant lose weight, dry skin, hair is slow growing, cold hands& feet, I'm now on medication, still not losing weight though
If you are supplemented with levothyroid and levels are ok, still have some issues, what would you try? Thank you.
I have all of it except yellowing of hands, altho occasionally I get some weird staining type yellow on side of my palms. I told the doctor years ago I had myxoedema but they told me I never. I also have a long standing sinus problem which if you look into it is absolutely connected the underactive thyroid. I have been saying I am undermedicated, but they always argue with me and subtracted two of my t3 recently.
If MALESMA IS CAUSE BY..
TSH (THROID PROBLEM)) IS IT CURABALE OR NOT
IF SOME ONE KNOW PLEASE DO ANSWER
THANKS IN ADVANCE
