Energy medicine: The truth about energy healing & how it works
Energy medicine is possibly the most controversial field in modern medicine. But we hurt our patients more than help them if we ridicule their interests in healing energy without fully understanding the possible benefits (and lack of risks). This healing energy may be most important before and after surgery, or before a psychedelic experience.

Energy medicine is a holistic approach to health and wellness that focuses on the role of energy in the body. Despite being a controversial topic in western medicine, energy medicine has been used for centuries in various cultures around the world to explain the connection between the mind and body. Energy medicine works by manipulating the body's energy fields to achieve a positive effect on physical and mental health. Some examples of energy medicine practices include acupuncture, pranayama, qigong, reiki, and EMDR.
One of the key principles of energy medicine is the idea of invisible energy fields that flow through the body, such as qi, prana, pneuma, and animal magnetism. These are in contrast to ATP as the energy source of western medicine. These energy fields are thought to play a crucial role in our overall health and wellness. Some energy medicine practices, such as acupuncture and reiki, aim to balance these energy fields and promote the flow of energy throughout the body.
Another important aspect of energy medicine is the concept of chakras and dan tien, which are believed to represent the locations of energy in the body. Practitioners of energy medicine may use techniques such as visualization and meditation to stimulate and balance these energy centers.
Despite the lack of scientific evidence to support the existence of these invisible energy fields, the effectiveness of energy medicine has been demonstrated in various studies and anecdotal evidence. For example, acupuncture has been shown to provide relief from conditions such as chronic pain, depression, and nausea.
However, many in the western medical community remain skeptical of energy medicine and view it as a pseudoscience. The western biomedical model is limited in its understanding of the complex relationship between the mind and body, and tends to ignore the role of consciousness in health and wellness.
Despite the lack of understanding of the underlying mechanisms of energy medicine, many people continue to use it and experience positive results. Just like anesthesia and quantum mechanics, there are many things in science that we utilize without fully understanding the underlying process.
In conclusion, energy medicine offers a holistic approach to health and wellness that incorporates the mind, body, and spirit. While it may be controversial in western medicine, energy medicine has a long history of use and has been shown to provide relief for a variety of physical and mental health conditions. By embracing an integrated medical model that includes energy medicine, patients will likely benefit the most and achieve optimal health and wellness.
hi I'm Dr Anthony cave a Stanford and Harvard trained anesthesiologist and Integrative Medicine specialist a patient recently asked me to hold their hand as they were falling asleep under anesthesia I asked them why do you want me to hold your hand and they said doc I won all of the positive energy you can give me as I'm falling asleep so this will make any doctor cringe hearing Energy Medicine like the most controversial thing an MD can possibly talk about and we're going to talk about it what is energy medicine and how does it work and what did I do for this patient when they asked for me to impart my energy onto them medicine's Greatest Secret is our inner healing potential and its most powerful under anesthesia when we let go of the reality we think we know Energy Medicine is probably the most controversial part of our Western Medical system because we can't measure this invisible healing field we have no proof of this invisible field really exists and as you know if we can't measure it in western medicine we get really afraid to talk about it with patients and I'm really sorry about this because it would probably help so many patients if we were open and honest about the limitations of our knowledge and the potential benefits that this knowledge could bring them simply put the Western biomedical model is severely limited it sucks for things that we can't tangibly touch and as subjective as Energy Medicine may be you know what else is really subjective that causes my patients a lot of suffering depression chronic pain chest pain before a heart attack the list goes on and on in fact nearly all conditions will start off in a subjective way that we can't measure as of yet in the Western Medical model all over the world energy is the foundation of all medical models in the west we focus at the cellular level at the ATP generated in the mitochondria of every cell as the energy that fuels all cellular processes that affect the rest of the body in traditional Chinese medicine they call it Chi what we Loosely translate as energy Qi in traditional Indian medicine called ayurvedic medicine they call this Prana literally means breath in Greek they call it pneumo also referring to the breath and France Mesmer where the term mesmerism comes from called this animal magnetism they all focus on the same concept which is our health is like a spinning gyroscope it's spinning on its axis and things in life invariably pop it over on its side in a healthy energy flowing body that gyroscope can go back on its axis this is actually really relevant to surgery because surgery is a total physical physical and psychological trauma that can throw people off their kilter but with the right energy flow presumably they can come back online to ultimately help heal themselves in their recovery after surgery it's all about this concept of balance what we call homeostasis in the Western Medical model the body wants to heal itself like when you go under anesthesia your blood vessels dilate your blood pressure drops and your body increases its heart rate to compensate it's like the gyroscope gets pushed over by the anesthesia and the body will correct itself to maintain blood perfusion to all of your vital organs we give it fancy names in the western model like sympathetic tone but it might reflect this same energy model construct acupuncture pranayama Qigong Tai Chi Reiki and maybe even EMDR to some extent all capitalize on the same concept of restoring energy flow maybe adding energy to this system if it's difficult patient to help the body restore its balance and ultimately heal itself the areas in the body where the energy lives are called chakras in ayurvedic medicine and dantien in traditional Chinese medicine and all of this Energy Medicine ultimately pokes at the concept of Consciousness which I manipulate all the time in the operating room or in my ketamine infusion Clinic because Consciousness is also super important but we can't measure it yet and we don't know if our Consciousness is a result of our brain chemistry or if it's something independent altogether that affects our brain neurochemistry you can see why doctors are afraid to talk about this with patients right but just because we don't understand how it works doesn't mean we shouldn't be inviting the conversation or supporting patients that are interested in learning more about it if there's no demonstrable harm like when was the last time you went to a surgeon who offered surgery but didn't want to offer the general anesthesia because we don't understand how anesthesia works yeah we really don't know how anesthesia works but we use it every day maybe Energy Medicine works on the cellular level where ions and charged molecules are moving across barriers in the body generating electrical fields and magnetic fields or maybe it's because of quantum effects like resonances and vibrations at a cellular level I really don't understand and I don't have to care that much because I still use anesthesia every day I don't know how it works and I use my cell phone every day which manipulates all sorts of quantum principles that I don't understand either if it helps patients and it doesn't harm them and there isn't any appreciable cost associated with it why aren't we talking about this more there is this beautiful construct in traditional Chinese medicine it says that our mind or our intentionality directs our Qi our energy and our blood follows the cheat or our blood follows the energy so it's saying that our intentionality directs our energy and our blood follows that energy it's similar to the trickle-down effect that we all know about in yoga which is from ayurveda or Indian medicine where the energy that we are building up in our Consciousness trickles down to the rest of our physical body ultimately but we totally ignore the mindset component in our Western Medical model and this has huge implications when our patients need that mindset pushed the most like before surgery or before a psychedelic experience if you want some real examples that poke at this sense of energy ask yourself have you ever felt a lump in your throat have you ever felt turned on had you ever felt your stomach turning over or felt butterflies in your stomach have you ever listened to a recording for ASMR have you ever felt a heartwarming experience or cathartic crying or felt a light bulb go off in your brain these are all examples of things that we can't measure very well but they're definitely Sensations that my patients experience before surgery after a psychedelic trip or at any other points in their lives we know there's a real Sensations but we really don't know where they come from and there are some similarities with things like Phantom limb pain complex regional pain syndrome fibromyalgia or myofascial pain nausea chronic pain are you surprised that acupuncture which can manipulate the energy flows or psychedelic medicine which can fundamentally alter our Consciousness can be so powerful in treating depression anxiety chemotherapy related nausea or vomiting chronic pain and potentially many other conditions that we still as of yet can't measure energy medicine is by no means a silver bullet very few things in medicine ever are but is Energy Medicine a powerful construct that we can integrate with the care that we're already delivering to patients absolutely if we can harness this energy for good say before surgery or before a psychedelic experience we can relieve anxieties fears and doubts rather than fueling them by ridiculing patients or by blowing off something that they might want to talk about and at the end of the day for my surgical patients this can reduce anesthesia doses it can reduce the risk of surgical site infections or blood clots or reduce the chance of acute pain transforming into chronic pain and it can even make recovery times faster so what did I do with my patient who looked me in the eye and asked me to hold their hand as they were falling asleep not only did I hold their hand I asked everybody in the room the surgeon the nurse is the scrub tech to hold on to their hand and their shins as they fell asleep as calmly and as relaxed and as compassionately as possible and they woke up with that same level of calmness and serenity that I see in my patients that meditate a lot and that seem to have some appreciation for harnessing their energy or in their inner healing potential

Truth 💫🥂🥂🥂 enerG is a vital force within us the Monopoly cannot take away..though they try 🤨🤨🤨🤨
Energy healing is so beneficial and it truly does work so I played a little trick on my unbelieving ex-husband. So as someone who is a healer he had back problems so I started doing what I do without touching his back whatsoever. He didn’t know this of course, after I said, did it help did I get the right areas with enough pressure he said yeah I feel better. I said what if I were to tell you I didn’t touch your back whatsoever. He’s like no way and I said yeah way he was like. 😳
Hospital stay was very lovely and they believed me. Please help💙♾️
I love what you’re talking about. When I told my psychiatrist what attached to me. She was messed up till the next month that I don’t have it anymore I do though I hated lying but I already had my brother call the police told them I’m manifesting evil entities at him. Almost 4 months later I don’t talk about it. Hold my hand and please get this thing off of me PLEASE

Tak!
Over 2 billion people in India and China know what this highly trained western MD is clueless about. Having energy medicine in hospitals would be sabotage.
I trained in healing touch during my nursing career. We had multiple Drs who would pray with their patients in the OR and used healing touch prior to surgery and in the recovery room.
Reiki is total nonsense
Have you done psychedelics yourself? 😅
Ok, I need some book recommandations to get started learning abiut this.
Fantastic 🙏 thank you so much ! Powerful
Thank you for this wonderful video. I'm a massage therapist and I learned Reiki. It's wonderful and versatile and I'm just glad that there are more doctors feeling open about talking about this kind of stuff.
Thank you so much!!! Now I know not to waste my time watching your videos.
what about reiki?

Thank you for speaking on this. I’ve been learning Energy Medicine for yrs now and full heartedly believe in the healing power of our thoughts and our own hands.
The reason we should not talk about it more, is that some people will go to energy healing as a first point of call, instead of going to actual doctors. This can only delay intervention and treatment of potentially serious conditions.
Mothers of every culture around mother earth measure that shit all day long every day. The patriarchy is ridiculous for being afraid of our natural healing abilities, which can be simply referred to as nurturing. Is the medical industry not allowed to use that word anymore either??
I've been a 2nd level Reiki practitioner for over 20 years. Just 1 example of how powerful Reiki is: Right after I got my 1st level, I burned my shin…a small 1st degree burn with pain. I placed my hands over the area & did Reiki for 20 minutes. When I removed my hands, the burn was completely gone & I was pain-free.
Yes. K x x
Not only do doctors not know energy healing, they don't know western medicine
1. If you tell your surgeon that you have paradoxical reactions to benzos, why would they administer a "mild pre-op " benzo
2. If they give you Versed and you get manic, why do they keep increasing the dose if it sends you in the wrong direction.
I think they are lazy and they know you will eventually overdose and go into a coma. Later you will wake up mid operation and suffer flashbacks for 21 years.
In 2010 I had to have my aortic valve replaced because I was born with a bicuspid valve and it had gone stenosis. I was going to die of sudden cardiac arrest and I didn’t know it until my heart murmur had gotten so loud that my boyfriend could hear it at night when I was sleeping. I was given a referral to a cardiologist by a walk-in clinic I went to for a sinus infection.
When the cardiologist saw the results of the echo cardiograph, he scheduled me with a surgeon immediately and I had the valve replaced three weeks later.
I was 60 at the time and in perfect health taking no prescription medication and eating a healthy diet and walking almost every day.
I had been extremely interested in energy healing and had taken several workshops to have some experience with what it felt like and how to do it.
The night before my surgery, I had a long conversation with a healer friend who was born with the natural ability to see and move energy.
She blessed the doctor and the entire staff who was going to be working on my and filled the entire operating theatre with White Light.
She told me she would be with me in the operating room, with her hands holding my head to support my heart while it was screaming because it didn’t know what was being done to it. Even though it was stopped and my body temperature was drastically lowered, my body knew what was going on and it was being traumatized.
When I woke up, I was being attended by two nurses in a darkened room and they were about to take the tube out of my throat.
As they gently pulled the tube from my throat, I immediately threw up and they were expecting it and cleaned me up immediately.
Even though it’s been 13 years since the surgery, I still have some PTSD and get stressed out easily by things and situations I had no problem with before.
When COVID came along, I did a tremendous amount of research about the shots they wanted everyone to take.
I had not taken a flu shot in 40 years and I wasn’t about to take this one.
I did a lot of study on how to strengthen my immune system and what I found out was the importance of having an alkaline overall system, which required me to give up sugar, rice and pasta and most breads.
I now start every day with the juice of one lemon in water that I distill myself and put through a Vitalizer to restructure it and add back the minerals that were removed by distilling it.
I would have to say I’m very healthy, especially after I quit all the pharmaceuticals that I was prescribed all the years after the surgery until the World Shutdown, especially the blood thinner which was causing internal bleeding of my veins and causing blood to pool in the heels of my feet. I haven’t been since one day since the Covid started and I refused to wear a mask unless I was Forced to in public.
Thank-you for your video. I was a nurse in acute care for over 20 years. Now I do Energy Healing because I became sick and Western Medicine had nothing to help me. I can do a number of different modalities and I am getting better. Energy healing of all modalities have several things in common. Firstly they remove negative energy (stress, trauma, emotions and programs etc). This negative energy is essentially toxic to the body like any other toxin. Also they can remove other toxins such as environmental or food related toxins, viruses, bacteria etc. Lastly they charge the battery, (increase PH) to heal the body. This can be Reiki, breathwork, sound, etc. There are dozens of methods but they all have things in common whether the practitioner recognizes them or not.
You are so wonderful. Thanks for explaining medicine so well. I could understand what you say. I have many medical issues coming up. It makes me nervous but listening to you makes me calm down. Thank you. ❤
Beautiful and so informative! I love it! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for this. Im a newly trained reiki practitioners and ive been struggling on how to process, explain, and accept how this energy healing modality truly works and not feeling kringy because i truly dont have the answers or understand. What you explained about action potential within our cells is how i feel comfortable explaining reiki healing, because it makes sense to me and doesnt make me feel like im talking voodoo. You are a beautiful soul with a beautiful heart and mind. Thank you so much for sharing your perspectives and knowledge so freely.
Such a shame that doctors like this are rare… all doctors should have this open mindset
A couple hundred years ago they didn't have a way to measure radio waves. DO they say that this means radio waves didn't exist then? The close mindedness of some scientists and medical practitioners astonishes me. They seem to take something not being proven as proof against it's existence.
I’m extremely empirical science leaning, but I used to practice the Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) religion and I was chanting the Maha mantras for 1.5 hours everyday, and I experienced a benefit of improved mental health, purpose, focus. The whole intention behind the mantra was not to be selfish and happy though, it was to engage in devotion to God. I think secular minded people would not work well with this spiritual practice, and I don’t know the science of chanting mantras, peer reviewed papers etc, but it absolutely worked anecdotally speaking and subjectively speaking.
I don’t do any of these chantings anymore, and my anxiety levels are extremely high. But I just keep reading science books. I’ve been traumatised by organised religion, and find some of the religious language very triggering. But I find it really fascinating that it worked for a certain time period. Journalling helps a small amount though.
So, in essence…”To conclude, the osteopathic principles could be: the body is the whole; the body continuum merges with everyone's body continuum and penetrates the environment in which one lives; the body posses self-regulatory mechanisms that are self-healing in nature; the position of a body structure decides its form and function”
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7785509/#:~:text=To%20conclude%2C%20the%20osteopathic%20principles,decides%20its%20form%20and%20function%3B
Actually, it’s not crazy at all but reductionism makes it hard to see beyond these divisions in medicine. As a bedside clinician in an academic medical system, discussing comprehensive bio psychosocial medical principles especially in pain, psychiatric, and autonomic pathophysiology is received quite well by patients who then tell my colleagues, which influences my fellow doctors more than what I do. I employ Osteopathic (NeuroMusculoSkeletal) Medicine principles to highlight a conversation about integrating physiology and anatomy as it relates to functioning in a conversation about a disease, it’s treatment, and an approach to health. Energy Medicine uses a different language but translating it is undeniably logically. Glad you do to. And patients / people feel better talking about things they can understand
Love your open minded approach
Imo belief is powerful and to be used wisely in all areas of life
Thanks so much❤
