welcome to part five of the official Sugar Detox series last video we talked all about the importance of stress and sleep and exercise and how to balance those out to nip sugar Cravings in the bud so if you missed that video or any of the previous videos in the series make sure you watch those first I'll have the full Sugar Detox playlist linked down description below so you guys can check that out this time we're talking about how to support the liver naturally to process old built up sugars and help to support your new lower sugar intake let's dive into it my name's Autumn I'm a certified clinical nutritionist with my Master's nutrition Human Performance now the liver has a lot of different functions but the one that we're all probably the most familiar with is that it processes toxins so we usually think of things like caffeine or alcohol but one toxin that it also has to process is fructose yeah the fruit sugar technically speaking fructose is a toxin for the body because we can't actually use it as energy when we eat it it has to First be processed by the liver into a used source of energy so the liver will either convert fructose into glucose like blood glucose level or blood sugar level or it will convert it into fat through a process called de novo lipogenesis in small amounts when we eat foods like whole fruit this isn't a ton of fructose so it's pretty easy for our liver to process it and use it but in large amounts it can really clog up the Machinery of the liver because it can only process so much fructose at once this is likely why a lot of scientists are finding that if you have a higher sugar intake or higher processed food intake both of which are going to be high in fructose that people can start to easily develop non-alcoholic fatty liver disease which is a really serious disease and if left unchecked can eventually lead to the permanent issue of cirrhosis but from a sugar craving perspective ironically non-alcoholic fatty liver disease can cause insulin resistance which then just causes us to crave more sugar so when addressing sugar Cravings we not only want to address what we're currently taking in but we also need to address what might be built up within us and that's where liver support throughout this process is crucial supporting the liver naturally through your diet is done through two main ways one is obviously removing the foods that clog up the liver in this circumstance the added sugars the processed foods and these can actually be quite sneaky because just typical sugar is 50 fructose and then there's like those sneaky healthy sugars like Agave which is really high in fructose it's about 90 fructose so we want to make sure we're removing those so we're not adding more fuel to the fire but on top of that we want to make sure we're supporting the removal of those built up sugars that are already within our body by supporting phase one two and three liver detox and this can be done through various food and lifestyle practices now certain foods have been found to really specifically address phase two and phase 3 liver detox the goal with these is to help speed up phase two liver detox and make it easier to eliminate those toxins via phase three detox so for example curcumin which is naturally found in turmeric has been bound to speed up phase two liver detox and getting adequate amounts of choline from foods like eggs which are really rich in choline is crucial for that liver support because a lack of choline has been found to result in liver cell death and impaired fat metabolism so obviously your liver is not going to be functioning very well if its cells are dying and then foods like broccoli kale bok choy all contain a compound called glucosinolates which also Aid in phase two liver detox and Brazil nuts and grass-fed beef are really rich in selenium which helps to make our glutathione a very important antioxidant within the body to prevent the liver from free radical damage during detox and salmon and tuna both of which are really rich in DHA which DHA specifically has been found to help prevent non-alcoholic stiata hepatitis or Nash if you don't have to say that 20 times which is also a severe form of liver disease and then foods rich in fiber like raspberries and chia seeds help with phase 3D tops and actually Gathering up what the liver has processed and dumped into the gut so it can grab onto those toxins and remove them from the body via a bowel movement none of these foods are doing the detox for the liver the liver will naturally do the detox process but by adding these Foods in that support the liver it's making its job so much easier when processing these toxins now there are also practices outside of just what you're eating that also help to support the liver during the detox process so the first really important practice for promoting detox is sweating so once our liver processes these toxins we have to get rid of it somehow and the main ways we do that is through our breath through our sweat through our urine and through bowel movements so you want to try and sweat every single day if you live in a hot environment that might be pretty easy like when I lived in Tucson for school I was sweating every day on my walk to school but if you don't live in a very hot area then you can support sweating with a really sweaty workout a really hot bath or you can use something like a sauna so some gyms will have these that you can use there's also at home options this is the one that I have at my house because it's really easy to just like roll up and stash away I'll have it linked down description below if you guys want to check that one out and then another important practice is movement movement and especially walking helps to support a healthy GI tract and helps to get your GI tract moving and one of the elimination Pathways of these toxins is via a bowel movement so if you aren't getting movement in that general area from being too stagnant you're not eliminating properly another practice that can support detox is intermittent fasting so the reason why this can be so supportive is because it does have gaps in between when you're eating and when you're not so when you have times when you're not eating or in other words fasting you're turning on your natural gut cleaning process that's helping to flush out what the liver is dumping into the GI tract so you can have that bowel movement and of course drinking adequate water so we can't really sweat we can't pee and eliminate toxins via those routes unless we're getting adequate hydration A good rule of thumb for what you're drinking per day is to aim for half your body weight in ounces although this might need to be higher if you're really active or if you do live in a hot environment so you might need to add about an extra 16 ounces or possibly more depending on your certain situation adding these practices in addition to the four previous tips that we discussed in this series to not only help to get rid of that sugar addiction but help your body process those sugars that we're already clogging up your liver and maybe making things worse adding these practices can help to provide that extra bit of support for your liver to really help set you up for success in fact my seven day detox program is used by thousands of men and women all around the world for this exact purpose and it incorporates all these liver detox supporting principles like the movement the sweating the proper foods to support liver detox the seven day detox program includes really delicious recipes Seven Day meal plan as well as a daily detox journal to help make sure you're addressing and incorporating each of these practices in fact if you're watching More Sugar in your detox?
I love all of these videos! This is so relevant too because I feel like there is so much poison in our foods and it’s hard for some people to get back on track and reset the body! Thank you so much for this amazing life changing content!!!! On another note it would be awesome if you could provide more content on nutrition for a pregnancy… I love that you shared some information with everyone but I think it would be so helpful- I know it’s a smaller segment but I’d love it. Thank you ❤
Autumn, I recently found your channel and I have already learned so much from you. I am intermittent fasting and eating meals high in protein, fat, and fiber and already am feeling so much better! You mentioned being in Tucson for college, and that made me so excited because I am from Tucson and also when to the University of Arizona! What a funny coincidence. Thank you for you content 😊
You're amazing Autumn. Much Love.
Sweating is not a useful form of detoxification, not sure why a clinical dietician is sharing this misinformation.
Do you recommend a curcumin supplement to help with detox? I just don't eat it normally. How do you get it in your diet? Thanks
I would also like to add to all things Autumn mentions for liver detox is either drinking milk thistle or consuming a milk thistle supplement. Thanks for the series, it was a pleasure going through the information you provided.
Hello, I would love to join the 7 days detox challenge but cannot find the link.
We have an extended family member who had cirrhosis of the liver, and never drank. This video makes complete sense of how he may have suffered from cirrhosis of the liver. Thank you for all this information.
I stay away from cottage cheese and yogurt because I could live on it, yum but too many carbs for me. I have trouble eating meat because I lived on a cattle farm and it is gross to me now. Can you talk about any issues you had changing over from vegetarian? Tuna is good but it should only be 3X week due to mercury?
Great info. Chia is a no for me. I was off sugar for 2 years. My step father got cancer and i went to my crutch again, sugar. My liver isn't happy right now.
My fatty liver is going in reverse according to the CT scan I had last week. I will be down 50lbs by the end of the month after cutting out all sugar and exercising back in February. THANK YOU AUTUMN FOR ALL YOU DO. I feel sooooo much better since I started following your channel.
Im 4.8%bf 140lb male. I thought i had a decent amount of insight on everything until i found Mrs. AUTUMN.She has been extremely helpful on several different things. Hoping to makea few orders from her soon. Thanks autumn. Keep em comin ole pal

I just did a sugar detox. OMG! I AM SO GLAD THAT I USED ENEMAS FOR THE SUGAR DETOX WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS. My friend did the sugar detox and was very sick from the withdrawal symptoms.
I did learn so much from the series, Thank you for doing it and for your detox program that is so complete also. 👍❤️🇨🇦
Excellent series! Love all the helpful and thought provoking information. You gave me hope and tools on my wellness journey.
For some reason I didn't realize fructose had to be broken down by liver to then b used. 😮 Love this series!
Thanks for sharing this content 🙌🏾
Very good job, Autumn ❤
