hey psychoers welcome back and thanks for taking a breather with us we know we could all use one burnout it's finally getting recognition as an actual thing it's not just a buzzword it's not something made up it's real and it's more common than you may think affecting people worldwide regardless of age or gender burnout you might think of a candle's blackened shriveled worn out wick if you feel how that wick looks you can likely relate to burnout these here are some ways to hopefully keep that candlewick conditioned helping to avoid burnout the best way to deal with it is to not get to that point in the first place so number one figure out what is stressing you we are going to use the word avoid and just clarifying avoiding a stressor is not the same as avoiding responsibilities a responsibility needs to be done but you don't have to go about doing it in a stressful manner see what we mean the best way to reconfigure this stressful process is whittle down and figure out what it is that's causing the stress here's a simple example it's easy to say this assignment is my stress getting it done is stressing me out but when you step back you realize the situation is more i'm stressed because i feel tight on time and i'm tight on time because i repeatedly chose other activities until there were only 24 hours left to get this done so yes you may require some time to practice self-awareness as much as we never like to admit it we sometimes build a whole lot of unnecessary stress for ourselves so please don't do this to yourself number two complete the cycle i know this sounds like we're suggesting you allow yourself to get more stressed but we're not trust me we're not burnout occurs because of prolonged unending stress it's essentially constantly treading water in the worst spot and never swimming to shore for rest this is what we mean by complete the cycle the book burnout by phd and dma nagoski twins describes the cycle generally as enter the stressor like tight turnaround times then cortisol and adrenaline production are triggered from the stressor this activates the survival response of fight light or freeze impulsive reactive behavior happens to stop the feeling of which can be binging eating or streaming we're not judging and then completion is taking the step of meditative breathing connecting with others or other forms of emotional release burnout happens when you get stuck at the binging step that impulsive action provides temporary superficial relief just enough to fool many of us into thinking oh we're all good now truthfully this dress is still there under now allowing it to continue frying and smoldering within number three sleep if you had nap time in kindergarten don't you wish that was still a normal part of your day sleep sleep is wonderful sleep is also important a solid healthy stretch of nighttime sleep is essential to overcoming or avoiding burnout humans are generally not nocturnal by nature we know this yet we seem to be all too willing to sacrifice sleep as the first bartering chip when dealing with stress we tend to think of sleep as a reservoir easily refilled with catching up on the weekend or sleeping in on vacation unfortunately sleep just does not work that way you can't retcon the past sleep you lost by sleeping more in the future so get a good sleep in the now what is good sleep anyway it's not that time you zoned out while reading ben woke up with a start when your forehead hit the desk it is completing a full sleep cycle including rem sleep the result is you wake feeling refreshed and renewed if you wake up still groggy or wanting to throw down in anger you did not have a good night's sleep to help you reach this fabled good sleep employ sleep hygiene and prep hygiene is basically a condition conducive to maintaining health so sleep hygiene is good sleep practices like no screens 30 minutes before bed and the room being dark cool and silent prep is what happens before the hygiene setting yourself up physically and mentally so no numbing shortly before bed and perhaps a short session of meditation to quiet your mind your route is yours these are just components find ones that groove with you and number four release the oxytocin perform activities that help produce oxytocin yes oxytocin the love jug well hormones really it's been found that various activities such as giving to others dancing working out or cuddling with your pet all trigger oxytocin production know why we suggest this basically because the activities not only make you happy but many of the activities can help others be happy too oxytocin is one of the big three happy hormones after all it's informed too that this hormone can decrease stress and anxiety so it gives happy and deducts stress and anxiety when when and number five know that you're worth it those old shampoo commercials at a point you are worth it yep our last tip for today is to practice self-love self-love can help you extend compassion towards yourself allowing you to perform self-care free of guilt or adding more stress never feel that tending to your own health is a waste of time or that you could be doing something more important you are the most important thing to you your existence depends on it burnout can happen to anyone it does not matter if you're in school or at a job or trying to get your own business going or a mom or a dad burnout is a creeper that can pounce when you least expect it happening to the seemingly healthiest of us we mean you're not alone or defective or inept burnout essentially means that your own personal care has been sacrificed in pursuit of outward rewards whether that pressure has been put on you by yourself or by a boss take a moment to realize that nothing is worth your health and that you deserve to be happy no matter how much the bottom line is going to affect quarterly profits you got this and we're with you on that did you see or hear something that could help you or someone you know comment below and give us a like take a break and reach out to others for help and we hope you found something helpful here maybe we'll take a breather together again next time thanks for watching

I've been sacrificing my life to study since I was a little kid. I always studied and I was the top of the classe, I was naturally smart and got everything quick. Since February or January I'm having an hard timw trying to atudy and I don't even feel like getting out of bed. I skipped a lot of school days cause of my anxiety and I feel worthless. My parents keep scolding me but I Just don't feel like doing anything, sometimes I just wanna sleep and never wake up again. Tho, while I was crying I found this video that made me realize what's going on. Tysm, this helped me and I'm going to try everything!!
Another signs I must notice
I go to quite a few job interviews and I often get burnout which lead to me worrying in case I fail to answer the interview questions. But I’m determined to do well because I need a job with better hours ❤
Yeah but times have majorly changed, and people DONT have as many options to stop burn out any more.
For e.g, everyone is on their smart phone. So theres no-one actually left to meet up face to face, or even anyone who wants to have a phone conversation. Its either text, or busy busy busy busy and more busy.
Noone has any money to have alternatives.
People are exhausted from years of dumb political decisions by their govt.
I've been struggling with work stress, and it's been a while. I work around 10 hours every day plus the hours I take to commute to my workplace. my workplace is very strict with appearance and customer service. and the thing about my position is that I have a "special" role, and this means I take more work. before I've got this job, I dealt with serious social anxiety, which I wasn't even able to leave my room in that meantime. It took me about 2 years to "heal." and this work has been so stressful that it's making those symptoms of social anxiety appear again. and the worst part about it is that I can't quit because my parents won't allow me to do so. but now I can't administrate all the areas of my life, I'm not being able to handle college, not being able to handle the workload, not having enough energy to take care of myself, not being able to cultivate relationships even not having time to sleep properly since I wake up at 5am and go to sleep at 11pm. just so I leave my house at 6am to get at work 8:30am and leave work at 7pm. I'm so tired. I think I might be getting crazy. like I'm about to break at any time. I don't know what to do anymore, I've done everything in this video and even more. but things are getting worse. I just want it to end.
Sleep, no
I'm going through so many things it;s a miracle I'm still living.
I feel burned out because of everything fr9m homework to work to taking care of errands to caring for my needy cats to maintaining my relationships etc. Even if I get rid of one, i still have the others to deal with.
I usually find myself watching these videos on Friday; after the long work week. My emotional stress stems from the thorn in my side: my boss. He likes to micromanage. Plus he is a bipolar-narcissist. Whenever he is on vacation, the workplace is relaxed and functions better. When he is around, it's like walking on egg shells. It's mentally taking a toll on me. The job pays well. Earlier this week, I had immediately stopped what I was working on and just took a walk for a few minutes. It was either take a walk or quit on the spot. I finally made it to higher pay – been there 2.5 years. But I question is it worth it anymore. I kinda feel like I'm breaking inside, not in a depressive state, but mentally exhausted. I'm planning my escape but trying to make the right decision. I know I can't choose my boss but if I can find something I like doing then that would be ideal.
Burn what? Do you wanna be rich or not? 😂
who here tried these and got themselves out from burnout?
I have burnout by caring for my narcissistic elderly demented father at 18. I also have school.
Someone help me, I used to prioritize study over everything, I even cried if I get small scores but after transferring school and meet lots of cool smart people I tried to compete but I just can't get the grade I want and now I just give up I am worried that I am no longer worried about my grades and I just let it be like that. Even now we have a moving exam next week but I can't even reach my notes. I don't know what to do anymore. I don't know how to fix it
I'm fully burned out extra crispy dead to the world I can't seem to get a restart realized way to late
I'm a university student. I've been experiencing a lot of stress, burnout and on my way to a mental breakdown. Here's the story. I study with full scholarship cause my family is not rich. And in my first year, I failed one important subject, which basically blocked subjects in upcoming semesters. It's okay. I'm going to have to extend my studies by just a semester and likely have to pay for that semester. My family could afford one semester, but not more. What's stressing me out most is that I'm taking this subject again this semester and and I'm afraid of failing it again. I've failed it before just because of a tiny mistake in my lab exam. I've been stressing over it again and again. Because failing it again would be more extension which my family can't afford. Overthinking that I might do mistakes again. But this time, everything is different. I knowy mistake and I'm now even more prepared for that subject. I hope I'll pass this exam and stress will go away. I believe god's on my side. And I want to let everyone who's stressing over exams, work or anything know that nothing is impossible. Just remember: YES WE CAN!
Sometimes, slowing down is the fastest way to get back on track. Take care of yourself!
“ I’m not growing up, I’m just burning out”
What not to do: being abscent for years off the job and traveling as if nothing happens.
What is the main cause of my burn out… Babysit two kids that is not mine. My sister goes to work and I cannot escape from babysitting.
can't tell if i'm burnt out or just lazy
WORK=Give us your entire soul and no vacations
What about a working mom being burnt out 😫
I'm so burned out even my ashes have been burned to dust. It's been months and I'm not even halfway to recovery.
I've tried everything I can think of but can't get more than 2hrs in a single go.
I'm not even sure my brain makes oxytocin anymore, not for lack of trying.
This channel feels like a warm hug
So what i have to do ?
I’m so burnt out that I fell asleep seconds into the video. Woke up the next day and noticed in the middle of the day that I never finished it once I opened my YouTube app🤦♂️.
im a little to late
School caused my burnout
Please stop burning yourself out over a job that can replace you in a second
People please take care of yourself cuz your job won’t be there for you when you laying in the hospital bed 🛌, or can’t get yourself out of bed 🛌 at all
This just proves how shit of a routine I am following that I am here just after 2 months
Thank you for this video. I’m in tears. I needed to hear that phrase “know that you are worth it”. Your voice is so soothing. Great video ❤
0:44 It’s about money. I’m burnt out because of money. I need money, I have to support my family and support myself or I’m going to die. I have to get a job. I can’t find a job. Nobody will hire me. Even if I lower my standards and apply for the most unpopular jobs and hard jobs that involve physical labor, they won’t hire me. I can do my hobby because it can be a business. But I can’t do it, because I’m burnt out. Maybe it’s laziness, but I’ve never been this lazy until the hardest life lesson hit me really, really hard. I wanted to cry, I cried. But the problems and the burnout were still there. I wanted to kill myself because I wanted to live.
Number 3, sleep.
I'M TRYING!
I wanted to know what to do if you're already burnt out…😅
This is so cute, I really like this video ☺I just feel like it was made so well. I'll learn a lot from this video, I'll learn how to schedule in meditation and yoga, and self care hygiene before I go to bed at night, so that I have enough time to soak in the benefits of my hard work during the day. 💞this video, and videos that you post like these, are helping me see the vital importance of self- care………
