  3. The thought that I should say that I’m grateful for something reminds me that I was told not to say what I felt grateful for in 2011 and that I should keep things of certain topics to myself.
    I still feel hurt from that
    12 yrs later and I’m 33 now.

  10. Thank you for this beautiful resource, Nicole. If it's okay to ask, what do you suggest to people whose caregivers used gratitude/gratefulness in a guilting/emotionally-manipulative context? I.e. "you should be grateful I did X, Y, Z" or "you should be grateful you have X" or "you will go to hell if you are ungrateful – don't be a spoiled child". I practice the kind of gratitude you've outlined in this video, but I still haven't figured out how to heal from those childhood distortions of what gratitude means. It feels like my ability to heal through a sincere gratitude practice is being somewhat blocked by having immense shame+dysregulation triggered by those bad memories of being guilted into articulating gratitude as a way to buy temporary emotional safety. I hope that makes sense. Thank you again.

  15. I want to incorporate the practice of gratitude into my life, but I have one question. To whom do I address my gratitude for, say the family that I have, the roof over my head, the food I eat, or the fresh air I breathe?

  17. I have a journal where I start with my gratitude then affirmations and intentions and then manifestation and what i need to release all in one. It’s easier to get all in one since I’m always on the go keeps me organized.
