[Music] welcome to this mindful meditation exercise for beginners my name is Jason Stevenson and I'm so glad that you can join me here for this meditation unlike many of my previous meditations which usually focus on having an outcome whether that be less anxiety or better sleep or less stress or reaching for your goals this meditation is about releasing all outcomes and not having any EX expectations of any kind it's simply about being present in this very moment and in being present in this very moment we're allowing our life to unfold naturally and for outcomes and processes to take care of themselves in their own way mindfulness meditation is probably one of the easiest forms of medit meditation and yet as complex human beings we make it complex we make meditation hard because we're trying we are all brought up to strive to reach goals to achieve to gain certificates and to gain education and yet this simple meditation this profound meditation requires none of that it's purely about being present not even to letting go because in simply being present you will naturally let go of the past you will let go of the future it's all about just being here and now so you can put this to the test yourself and begin this meditation just by finding a comfortable place and you can either sit or lie down this really does not matter if you have a tendency to fall asleep during a meditation then it may be best to sit up and when you are ready just gently closing your eyes and I'm going to be talking you through this meditation and please know that my voice is not about a strict guidance to push you one way or another please just use my voice as a signpost that is pointing you the way you are in control of your own mindfulness your own presence so let us Begin by focusing on our breathing the breathing is the core element that will always bring us back to the present moment if our mind wanders off at any time and it will it will wander off and this is purely okay this is all a part of the meditation practice of recognizing when our mind wanders off and to gently bring it back to our breathing and to be aware of your breathing is simply that it's just being aware it's not trying to change your breath it's not trying to force your breath it's just dropping in on your breath and being a witness to your breathing if you're not already doing so you might like to breathe in and out through your nose no and as you send the air down see what parts of your body is expanding and Contracting and that's usually the lower abdomen your belly your diaphragm and just be a witness to how this feels as you breathe in and out Moment by moment Breath by breath [Music] you may recognize at this time that there will be thoughts that are coming and going and again this is totally normal and no need to beat yourself up when you see these thoughts this is a part of the process of meditation simply become aware of that thought not judging it not undoing it or trying to change it just witness that thought like a projector on the screen of your [Music] Consciousness and then move back gently shift back your focus to your breathing to the feeling of the expansion of your stomach in and out [Music] [Music] and no matter how many times thoughts come and go simply just keep going back to your breathing use your breathing as a grounding element to keep you grounded to keep you centered at all times it's a post to come back to [Music] now gently shifting your focus to an awareness of your entire body and this can Encompass where your body meets the platform that you're sitting or lying on how this feels how the air feels on your skin do any of your body parts touch each other are your hands resting beside your lap or on your lap just an overall sense of presence of your body here we can begin to take in the true presence of who you really are this awareness this presence is something that you always with it has no beginning no end it simply is presence it's awareness it's where you always will be thoughts come and go time comes and goes but this part of you is truly present at all times [Music] you may even like to focus on your heart area and feel an outpouring of Love through this area through this central part of Who You Are [Music] [Music] as thoughts come and go allow them to they are not part of your Timeless presence they are just [Music] passerbys see them for what they are and then gently shift back to focusing on the presence the awareness of your body the space which you exist in [Music] when a thought enters your presence there's no need to try to chase that thought or run off with that thought deeper and deeper no need to judge it or name it just simply allow that thought to be and move back to focusing on your awareness [Music] [Music] and now gently shifting your focus from your body awareness to sounds that you hear not trying necessarily to listen out for sounds but any that you are presently witnessing that come up in your awareness just accepting whatever it is that comes your way you may hear cars dogs people speaking in another room electronic gadgets going off nature sounds crickets water FL whatever that is and each sound is simply like a thought it's like an external noise and your thoughts are internal noises just sit in your beautiful presence and allow this time to recognize any sounds 100% In This Moment Breath by breath Moment by moment e as sounds come into your Consciousness just allow them to be as they are as you are an open aware being 100% present in this moment gently shifting your awareness now to thoughts that come and go within your mind and just like sounds that are external these thoughts are like internal sounds so not trying to judge thoughts that come and go just being a witness to them as they flash up on your screen your screen of Consciousness and drift by not trying to change a thought but simply just being you may find there'll be times of no thought no need to judge this space either just simply allow it all to be [Music] [Music] may have thoughts that come and go about tomorrow or about what happened yesterday or what will happen or what you need to do when these thoughts come up be like an observer dropping in on them see them witness them and if they choose to hang around too much simply go back to focusing on your breathing and you may find it easy to blow the thought away on your breath out releasing it on its way letting it go as you remain present aware here in this moment [Music] now for the last few moments of this meditation bringing in all awareness awareness of your breath awareness of the space in your body and how you were seated or lying down awareness of sounds and of thoughts coming and going using your breath to ground you as an anchor you might say to always come back to your breathing if your mind starts to wander [Music] [Music] [Music] e [Music] [Music] and as this meditation practice comes to a close be aware that this meditation practice can be done at any time and in practicing to be aware and to being present in the moment with this formal meditation practice you're allowing and abling yourself to be more fully present in any given moment or situation on a day-to-day basis no matter what you were doing in life whether that be at work or at play the simple Act of coming back to your breathing back to your breath and ground you Center you so that you are 100% living in this moment mindfully present I wish you much peace and joy in your life bye-bye for now [Music]
