[Music] welcome back army fam I'm Bianca Rene and today I'm gonna tell you everything you need to know about the postpartum lifestyle that many people probably didn't prepare you for everybody wants to warn you to sleep while the baby sleeps and that you're not gonna sleep but I personally don't know anybody that doesn't know that babies cry so I don't think anyone really needs that forewarning that the baby is going to cry at night but what we do need to know is that going to the bathroom is kind of more painful than giving birth and that you still have contractions if you're breastfeeding after the fact like these are the things we're going to talk about so I'm officially two months postpartum so I can now say that I officially don't have any more pain the long haul now something you know how big of a deal that is to be able to get past the postpartum pain but then the other half of you are like wait two months yeah it lasts a while sometimes longer but as of today I can proudly say that I'm not in any pain but those early days those early days so quick backs were on me I did have a vaginal birth to a 8.1 pound baby and I did get an epidural so because I had an epidural I didn't feel any pain during the pushing process it was smooth sailing but after you're done pushing out the baby you don't have the epidural that's when you start to feel everything okay so for those of you that had a truly natural birth I can't say that after is worse because that's probably a lot but if you did get an epidural the pain for you like me it's probably going to come after and that could start as soon as when you go to the bathroom now I can't say that immediately after birth going pee I don't think hurt it was just a whole process that the nurse kind of has to help you with if you're someone that's kind of like very timid you don't like people seeing you like naked or anything I feel like at least for me all that goes out the window once you have a baby and you're just so thankful that a nurse is there to help you sit on the toilet so next to me I have all the items that are going to be your best friend postpartum all these things are in my Amazon store I'll link in the description box if you guys want to get any of these to make your life a little bit easier first I want to mention is your now postpartum wardrobe you will look something like this no makeup is going to be the everyday look the very natural look unrealistically I took a shower today that's not something that always happened so my hair actually is washed it's usually up in a bun but robes and nursing bras the only thing you're really gonna need in life if you aren't breastfeeding you're still gonna want to be as comfortable as possible your body's still healing and back to normal you're holding a baby you're not getting much sleep but if you are breastfeeding nursing bras are the only thing you're gonna be wearing every single day I got a bunch of these off of Amazon I got them in packs I probably have like eight of them now because I wasn't keeping up with my laundry and I just needed one at all times I wasn't expecting my boobs to leak as much as they do before I got pregnant when I heard people were like leaking I was like oh I pictured like a little couple drops here and there no not for me my breast like spray milk like my poor baby he like choked sometimes because these are like freaking squirt guns he's like mom like I'm scoring him in the face it gets it gets very messy it gets out of control so I wasn't expecting that much just to be like spewing out so my bras would get like drenched and things would get messy so I had to buy a lot of them and thanks to you guys I now have nursing tank tops these come in handy because if you have to be in public or you know you're just not at home by yourself and you don't want to see your now flabby tummy it still covers everything and then you could just unsnap here and open it down that way you could just lift up your shirt plop it down it's much easier so first of all let's talk about how do you look right after having a baby spoiler alert when you have a baby your stomach doesn't go back to normal no you still look pregnant after you push out the baby so I'm going to show you guys my postpartum body journey so here is a picture of me immediately after birth this is like the very next morning it looks like I'm still at least seven months pregnant 24 hours after birth this is what my stomach looks like I don't know what's in here now that that's not a baby but our baby is hungry as you can hear interested to see how this goes down now I personally gained 41 pounds during my pregnancy the baby was 8 pounds so just because you push out a pound baby does not mean the rest of the 33 pounds go with it that's the part you're gonna have to work off on your own so you do lose a lot of water weight you know the placenta all that kind of adds to it but definitely not you know an extra 33 pounds so I was kind of surprised on how my belly looked immediately after it's all it's very jiggly it's not firm anymore it's kind of I don't know it just feels like a bunch of jello was in there that's how a body can look right after birth you know all of us are gonna be different but in case you were curious that's how I looked now let's talk about going to the bathroom going to the bathroom is now a 20-minute process and you're gonna need like a little kit to just go to the bathroom in your kit you're gonna start off with these types of pads no this is not a mattress it's actually a pad so you grab your tempur-pedic mattress and this is going to hold all of the blood and other you know goodness that is coming out suddenly so this is because we didn't have our period for nine months well all nine months kind of comes back on that first day so it's a very very very heavy almost period so you need this whole jumbo pad to catch everything then you can't wipe down there anymore I know you didn't know that did you so now instead of wiping we have to use these little pari bottles you put water in it and you spritz it and you just spray the area with water to clean it getting rid of any blood and pee and whatnot so first you have to spray your water bottle clean the area then you get the toilet paper just to do a little pat dry but you can't necessarily wipe yet then because your pain you now need to grab this little spray this is a spray that was giving me about the hospital it's called hospital formula Americain benzocaine topical anesthetic spray it's supposed to stop the pain and itch for minor cuts scrapes burns and sunburns doesn't say for pushing out a baby but that's what we're using it for so she gave me this then you spray the area to kind of numb and cool things then yes there's more we're still sitting on the toilet you grab the witch hazel pre-moistened pads so I saved a couple in here for you guys yes I sacrificed my vagina to show you what these look like but the little circle pads like this that are already soaked in witch hazel and this is also going to help ease the pain so then you're gonna grab two of these and you place these on the pad to then sit on the area while you pull up your underwear are you wearing normal underwear no you're not instead the hospital will give you some of these stretchy disposable underwear and these honestly in my opinion were the most comfortable things ever they're very thin super stretchy that could fit over your still large belly and this is where you put your giant jumbo pad yes how cute are you no need for savage venti the only thing savage is the pain in your vagina now I personally love these little underwear so make sure you take as many as possible for you to take home but then once you get home you can then switch to these these are the always discreet boutique adult underwear diapers basically they look like this I did take one for you guys aren't these adorable I know not really they're not the sexiest thing but inside is a built-in pad so you don't actually have to put your jumbo pads it's already built-in you could just link right away I didn't think these were comfortable so I got a size small medium and I was 174 pounds and these were still a little tight on me so I should have got a larger size but I don't know these just fell like I was literally wearing a diaper and I hate pads in general so I didn't find these comfortable I prefer to store my own underwear and a pad but some people love these you could try them out if you want but after a couple days the bleeding does slow down so then you got to graduate from your mattress to these super long pads also given to you by the hospital so honestly I think I only wore the Jumbo pad maybe the first and second day but by the third day at the end of the second day I was able to see use these super long ones instead then after a while it will slow down even more I think my bleeding kind of stopped within a week then I was just kind of you know light discharged like the last days of your period but then you can then go to like a more normal size pad but you still gotta use pads and even once all the bleeding really stops you might then eventually switch to liners so it's a long different size process to get down to here everyone's gonna be different but I would have every size on deck so that is why it takes you 20 minutes to go to the bathroom you know for the first almost about two months those little basket is from Ikea you guys could use that or you can get like a shoebox a makeup box whatever you have and just kind of keep everything next to your toilet so you're ready to go if you have two bathrooms you might want to put it in both if you don't want to run up to one bathroom now me personally I was in so much pain after birth that I needed more so I bought more things it hurt to sit okay so I got one of these little doughnuts this is also from Amazon this is or hemorrhoids and for like postpartum care it kind of so your butt sits on the pads but then your middle region kind of just floats that way it's not pressed up against the couch or whatever you're sitting on so it's a nice little like vagina hammock if you will and at first I think this was really working because I was just in so much pain but then once I sat back on like a flat surface I noticed that this was my friend so this came in handy now the most painful part of postpartum in my opinion is going number two it's a very scary situation you will sit on the toilet and if you've never prayed before you will probably start praying right there because you just want to get through this moment and I personally did tear and got stitches I don't exactly know where but it felt like there was not really a separation between the middle region and the back and when I went number two it was so bad like I just made it made me not want to eat so that I wouldn't have to go to the bathroom so you aren't gonna need some stool softeners if you do feel a little constipated these are also from Amazon they give you like 5000 for like five bucks or something it's really affordable there's 400 in here and I think I used I don't know not a lot I did not make a dent so those are come in handy if you are in pain and then I also got some different sprays to use because some people are talking about numbing sprays and I was thinking like I would love to have an epidural at home just for me going to the bathroom that's when you really need one so I got two different types of spray from Amazon I got the dermal Plast pain and itch spray and then I also got a more like natural one by Earth Mama they're herbal pernil spray to take care down there now this one is like the hardcore spray you kind of makes you feel like you're spraying like wd-40 down there it's cooling of contain a low and lanolin's but oh no I used it but I can't say it was like amazing for me but I know some people love it this one I think I just enjoyed the ingredients better it has water witch hazel leaf extract cucumber organic lavender organic peppermint so it smelled really nice and it was just a really nice like cooling sensation that I would spray down there just to make everything a little bit better but then the pain still was pretty unbearable so that's what I learned to make Pat sickles yes it's exactly what it sounds like turning your pad into a popsicle so what you do is you grab your pad you open it up like so then you're gonna grab some witch hazel I got this from Target and you just soak the pad in witch hazel then you also get some aloe vera gel this is also from Target it's 97.7 pure and you squeeze this on you can get a knife and spread it on so it's nice and even then you fold it up and you keep it in the fridge I made like ten of them and I put them in a ziploc bag and then when it's time to use them this part is frozen so then when you put the pad in your underwear it's like a super cooling ice pad for your nether regions but here's the thing that no one warned me about the pad sickles this is extremely painful imagine right now whether you're pregnant or not or postpartum imagine getting a bunch of ice cubes and putting them in your underwear that's freezing obviously and it actually hurt it was so cold that it was painful so I would have to take like a full three minutes just kind of slowly sitting on it and then once I could bear it then then it felt amazing but you got to get past that initial frostbite that part's not fun but Freda mom also has a whole postpartum kit and as you can see I kind of forgot that I had it and I didn't use anything in here but if you don't get these things from the hospital it does have disposable postpartum underwear it has cool and absorbent ice maxi pads oh no freezer necessary I really should have opened this darn it soothing cooling pad liners and a foam that's supposed to help relieve pain huh this rocks you probably would have came in handy should have used it so after all this excruciating pain I then later realized why it was hurting for me personally at my 6-week post partum doctor visit so when you go for your visit after you have the baby at 6 weeks that's when your doctor is gonna look down there make sure everything's healing ok and just make sure everything is back to normal well turns out the reason why I had a very painful 6-week appointment for those two Watchmen instagram was because i had something called granulation tissue so that's basically when since i tore and you just pushed out a baby everything is trying to heal back to normal and mine was healing beautifully but then there was like one little part that didn't heal correctly and it created more tissue than it needed to so I created this little tiny not even like a bump but it was like a extra tiny little flap of tissue and it was like I knew it was there because I end up having just to peek before my appointment I was like hmm that wasn't there before what the heck is that and it was extra tissue and it was like pink and it actually bleeds so that's why I had to wear pads for so long because it was a little tissue that was bleeding it wasn't exactly like normal like period type blood so once I went to the doctor and she saw that she was like okay yeah oh it's not a big deal it happened sometimes it doesn't close all the way I was gonna have to cut it off Oh what right now like with scissors or a knife and she's like yeah I need to remove it so I was like oh my gosh like when does the pain end so she calls in her nurse she's like oh can you grab me the scissors and I was like this is going to hurt are you gonna numb me is the epidural an option now and no I mean I think she says she's a nun me I don't know what she did but all I know is what I was that I felt it and it was not none so she's like okay it's gonna sting cuz I have to put this stuff on it but that part really stinks and it's stung and then I could kind of feel her like cutting off a little tiny piece of the area oh that hurt that definitely hurt just imagine cutting off a small sliver of your vagina that's what it felt like she's okay now that you've gone through this you officially won't have anymore pain the worst is in the past and she admitted that you know I had a super easy pregnancy so I got nipped in the bud after like we all got to get us somehow so that was why my 6-week doctor appointment sucked so just know that hopefully majority people I think would just have a normal checkup yeah I'm fine everything looks great cool you're good to go enjoy your baby but that is something that could happen so so that is everything for the vagina pain but guess what it there's more now let's talk about the Tatas if you are breastfeeding there is a whole other new type of pain there now one thing that you may already know is that when you are able to breastfeed it oxley helps contract your uterus so will make everything get smaller quicker because your uterus is still shrinking because of the breast milk so that's a good little freebie that you get if you are able to breastfeed but since your uterus is still contracting you still feel contract Shins so now I'm feeling more contractions now than I did even before because I got induced so my stomach is now in pain because I'm breastfeeding and I did not expect to have to feel contractions once the baby was gone so the doctor will give you some drugs if you need it I had ibuprofen and that helped me for the first couple weeks once I got home if you aren't super hydrated you don't drink a lot of water you could also get headaches I was getting really strong headaches when breastfeeding so I had to be much better at drinking a lot of water and staying hydrated and eating of course but then aside from those type of internal things I also became engorged so now me going from someone who's never had boobs before I've always been like a barely be I'm like a double D suddenly because my boobs are just full of milk and they are like hard as a rock and I thought they were going to explode also on the plus side I was very happy to one be able to breastfeed cuz I know that's not something that everyone is able to do and that I was producing milk but it was like too much and then I didn't want to start pumping too soon because I was told that if you pump more your boobs like oh you need more milk let me give you more and that can just create like a surplus of milk I'm gonna do a whole another video on breastfeeding so to ease the pain and another thing that I got off of Amazon are these little cooling packs so there's little like jellies in here and then you put them in these little cloths that come in here and you stick this in your bra well first you stick them in the freezer let it freeze and then you stick them in your bra oh and these felt amazing you almost just wish they would last a little bit longer because obviously they're not gonna stay frozen forever so you got to put it back in the freezer but that initial relief amazing if your boobs are engorged order these now now if you don't get engorged you still might have some nipple pain so nipple cream is also going to be your best friend my hospital gave me a little bit of the linoleum cream this is like the most normal brand we probably see but then I end up buying a larger one just to have on me at all times because you just need this use it every single time you breastfeed so let the baby eat rub some on there let the baby eat rub some on there and how do percent natural so it's okay if this does get in the baby's mouth it's totally like made for the nipples and breastfeeding so this has to be like reapplied oh and then I was like you know what let me try something else we'll let you guys know which one I like I tried another brand by Earth Mama organics this is their organic nipple butter it's an interesting consistency it is more of like a butter and you have to like kind of scrape in here this one kind of goes down to like an oil it's very runny and watery where this one is more creamy I think that this earth mama probably has better and more natural ingredients but I think I preferred the linoleum cream better let me know which one you guys preferred but now at two months it's not that serious I use it I haven't use it in a while to be quite honest but if not your nipples will become chapped crusty and red yeah I think I skipped it one time and it just happened and then I kept applying it and it went away so it's not a permanent issue just remember to apply as needed ah doesn't postpartum sound so fun you're also going to need these little disposable nursing pads I was very annoyed that they're all individually wrapped I said that was like a waste of plastic and that I have to open each one but you do tear from here has two little stickers and then you place this inside your bra to catch all the leakage these little pads for me become thick because of how much milk I'm wasting from the leakage they also have ones that aren't disposable they have washable ones if you don't want to buy a million of these to give you an idea I bought 200 of these but they come in a box of 100 I got two boxes and they were gone the first month who's that control so aside from your bathroom box you also want to have a little bedside box in my bedside box I wouldn't really have my cooling pads or my witch hazel but I would have my ibuprofen to take when I was in pain I'd have my nipple cream and then I'd have my little nipple pads in here just so they could always be easily accessible before I go to bed hmm is that everything Oh the last thing that I just did not expect is how much you sweat after birth so one day I woke up in like a puddle of what I thought was water I was like did I pee myself like why is there so much moisture in the bed right now so I googled it because that's what you know pregnant women do and postpartum but we just Google everything and there's something called night sweats and that's when your body is just like releasing all that extra water retention we were holding through our pregnancy and just like pushes out of your body so that is why the doctor gives you these giant pretty much adult wee-wee pads you know when you're training your dog how to go to the bathroom yeah you now need these in your beds so I would put these under my sheets just to kind of save my mattress a little bit because I was sweating like no other and but you know one thing that I've learned about postpartum is that you just got to get used to being wet at all times like your boobs are leaking your vagina's leaking your baby's spitting up on you pooping on you peeing on you the truth is you're just never dry it's very annoying oh I think that is everything you need to know about postpartum well I mean I'm sure there's more so why don't you guys fill us in what was something that you just were not prepared for a postpartum why's that no one warned you about what was the worst thing for you how did you get over it leave all your advice and the comments below so we can help another mama that's about to pop I also want to know what did you learn from this video what did you not expect and what little item in my recovery kit here was your best friend during your postpartum days I'd love to know if you enjoyed this video give me a thumbs up and subscribe we post new videos anytime the baby allows us to so make sure that notification bells who notified as soon as we upload a new video you also can follow us on instagram at R&B fam wishing all the new Mamas out there the best of luck the pain will subside you just gotta push through I'll see you guys 15 weeks and 5 days pregnant with our first child and it’s a boy. I refuse to act like “boy moms” nowadays it’s creepy.
I love this video !! You talked about everything that a postpartum mama needs to know and in detail ! Thank you !
I have 5 weeks left and this knowledge is just awesome. Thank you for sharing this video ‼️😩
Thanks so much for sharing this useful information ❤❤❤ it was soooo helpful😊
Not the tempur pedic!! 😂😂
I’m bawling as I watch this, not because I didn’t know what to expect from other tiktoks and shorts, but because I’m only three days away from this to become my reality. Thank you for being raw and real🩷
I recommend packing your stool softener with you in your bag to the hospital and start them right after birth. It makes #2 SO MUCH easier after you get home ❤
Ain’t that the real truth.
I had very similar experience on the first baby. Now I’m expecting the second. 😅
This is the best post patrum video I saw, thank you !
You are too dramatic. Maybe you are too sensitive 😅
I bought 450USD worth of allllll this stuff … after doing research … I’m 38 weeks.. and praying that my vajayjay don’t rip… n my boobs don’t get rock hard… but literally I have 95% of ur list, cept the stool softener and I got silver nippple cups too.
Omg I laughed so hard with this video it was much needed! Thanks!
The part about cutting the extra tissue off…show that to your kid when they become a defiant teenager ! Scare them straight !
Grab your mattress pad 😅😅😅 so funny ! And true !
18:28 I think I may have died 🫠🫥

This is seriously the best video I've ever seen on postpartum LOL. And I agree with all your recs!! We have the same preferences <3
All i can say is im thankful that this video exists. Im a first time mom and just getting into second trimester, baby is already bigger than average and first trimester was rough due to pre pregnancy issues. Second trimester so far i havent felt so normal and im scared of the unknowns with labor and postpartum. This video has helped me start mentally and emotionally preparing for whats comming. Imma stock up on alow and witch hazel for sure😂
Loved this video so much and how real it looks. Thank you for not sugar coating things and sharing what really works
Put aice pack in the middle of that doughnut and it will make it feel even better when you’re sitting down
This makes me scared to push out a tiny human 😂 here we go I guess LOL
Awareness makes a huge difference… especially in extending grace to postpartum moms who need all the relief and support they can get 💟
""It's not a mattress, it's a pad" 😅😂😂😂😂
Damn my girl wanted me to watch this and I’m like yall women go through a lot 😢😂
I was entirely unprepared for how difficult my post birth recovery would be. I had a pretty bad tear and did not do things I should have to recover well. Definitely needed to know how to do a sitz bath before I went into labor. I was also completely unprepared for breastfeeding and ended up exclusively pumping for awhile because of the challenges.
Things that really helped were a couple of herbal tinctures. One I used for the postpartum contractions right after birth and during breastfeeding. And the other I took anytime I was feeling emotions going haywire (it was basically for baby blues). Those two are absolute must haves for me now during postpartum.
I also loved Earth Mama’s perineal spray and their perineal balm was great too after I felt safe to touch around down there.
Super mom that’s all I can say girl you are helping new mamas thank you so much and heal with peace. Congrats on your bundle of joy❤
Fantastic video ❤ thanks for the info. Much appreciated
19 weeks pregnant and I'd like to take it back now 😅
I’m happy I found this! I also watch your hair vids too😊 this is great! I need to know the good bad and ugly. I have to June to prepare. I am scheduled for a C-section so I may or may not have the hoo ha pain. I did have a C-section like surgery to remove a good sized fibroid in 23 and the process was bit similar minus a 7lb baby but I’m sure they have to go through more layers. The bathroom thing is real! Oddly it did sting or something to pee for a while actually for some reason but number 2 😖😖ughhhh more often than not had this crazy sharp pain down there and in stomach and scared me! And I have chronic soft stool so imagine if they were normal or hard stools. I didn’t even want to go again for a few days lol. So I’m sure gonna be worse.
Did hear the temporpedic matterss )love that) is still needed after surgery. That’s gonna be a do9.6
Im sorry I am 6 weeks pregnant and now scared as all hell. I got halfway through this video and now ima gonna go pray 😂
I already have one of those donut pillows lol for pregnancy tailbone pain. I feel ahead of the game lol I’m enjoying this a lot
I cried after watching this
Ooooo that "i felt everything"…. I had a Bartholin cyst, which is a cyst on a gland right on the inside of your vagina, like actually right inside. The female doctor at the ER injected the lidocaine and immediately sliced it open. Didn't give the med to kick in. I had to go in 2 weeks later, and I got the same doc. She didn't use anything at all the second time, saying "it's already cut, it won't hurt." I screamed so loud my kids heard me in the waiting room. I went in 2 weeks later and it was a different doc. He took his time and waited for the lidocaine to kick in. All i felt was when the cyst oozed. I don't understand why doctors say there are thousands of nerve endings, but that we won't feel any real pain.
“No this is not a mattress” I DIED😂😂 You’re hilarious girl!
Trigger warning ⚠️
For the women that don't know what they are going to watch
P.s
Yall will be okay . You will make it through. Remember day by day you are healing ✨️ 💛
It's scary , uncomfortable and down right painful. Give yourself love and respect during these times. Breathe in and out and have a calm mind.
It def went out the window
I used the witchazel wipes many many months after birth because they are so refreshing
I saw this video before birth, turned it off midway because I thought it was overboard. I wish I hadn't. After birth pain hit me like a ton of bricks. Everything mentioned in the video is real and get the things she is recommending. I wish I got the donut pillow because sitting really hurts
Hmm now I understand why most women go into postpartum depression. I'm 15 weeks gone now. God help us.
Thanks for being such a great sister friend and sharing step by steps of how it’s done. Super helpful. It’s been 10 years since my last and this is a great refresher before the nurse get into it and I feel like a newbie. 😂
i’m 20 weeks pregnant and this video freaked me out LOL i couldn’t even watch the rest
4 yrs later and you are still saving lives! I bought the small/medium discreet pads and never tested them… Just tried one on and it's too small! I don't live in the US so it takes time to ship and I'm due in a week. Hopefully the large will arrive on time.
Most helpful video ever 😂
Thank you For the tips and laughs 😂🥰
I love how you make this so comical and informative 😂❤ good video!
