Why take cold showers?
It all has to do with something called cryotherapy or cold therapy. This concept is based on hormesis. With hormesis, what you’re doing is adding a moderate amount of stress to create a beneficial effect.
By taking a 20 minute cold shower, you can increase norepinephrine by 200-300%. When you increase this nerve transmitter, you can:
• Drop inflammation
• Increase your antioxidant network (including glutathione)
• Increase your mitochondria
• Increase your T-cells
How to take cold showers to get these cold shower benefits:
Start out with maybe 30 seconds or a minute, and gradually increase the time you’re in the cold shower over time.
7 cold shower benefits:
1. Decrease muscle pain
2. Decrease joint pain
3. Speed up recovery
4. Decrease inflammation
5. Increase cognitive function
6. Increase mood
7. Increase metabolism

today we're gonna talk about the seven benefits of taking a cold shower this is really about something called cryotherapy cold therapy now with cryotherapy you're put into a crowd chamber for just a very small amount of time because it's a very very cold two maybe three maybe up to five minutes and this concept is really based on this word hormesis okay hora mucins what is that that is a situation where you're adding a low dose dress or a moderate amount of stress to create a beneficial effect there's a lot of things that can create this effect this is called hormetic effect but it's really a survival mechanism that's been around for eons I mean if you think about in the past with human bodies the combination of how many times that our bodies have starved and been in the cold so you're freezing and starving and what the body will do over time to adapt it's really built within our genes so just by taking a 20 minute cold shower it can increase norepinephrine by two to three hundred percent and when you increase this neurotransmitter which is made by your adrenal glands and other parts of your body you can really drop inflammation you can increase your antioxidant networks including glutathione so your ability to detox protect against DNA damage is improved also your mitochondria increase as far as the numbers of mitochondria you can generate more energy which is fascinating so taking a cold shower of a period of time can actually boost your energy also your T cells increase these are the cells that help you prevent against infection against viruses and even bacteria now you would think by going into the cold you would get sick but you're only going in the cold for a certain period of time when you do a cold shower I always recommend start off with maybe 30 seconds for a minute and gradually increase it over time and then maybe turn it on to a hot shower and alternate just because pain tends to be very painful so you want to gradually ease into it if here's some of the benefits of a cold shower it decreases muscle pain and anytime you have an acute injury you want to use cold and not heat that's just a side down you also get decreased joint pain joint inflammation especially with rheumatoid arthritis you'll speed up recovery from either a workout or you had an actual injury from sports eg it decreases inflammation in general increases your cognitive function your overall mood there's been some interesting studies on depression and anxiety and also it can even increase your metabolism now I know the last way people want to lose weight is by taking cold showers but it can boost your metabolism a little bit but of course you want to be on keto and intermittent fasting to really do it correctly anyway these are the benefits and comment below if you have ever used cold as a therapy thanks for watching hey if you haven't already subscribed press the button below and I will keep you in the know hey that runs

Thank you. I used cold as a therapy for my kidneys. I am about to begin using this therapy for my rheumatoid. I live in a hot region and am aiming to survive it.
Just started. Love it. I've only been doing 7 minutes in the shower but I think its making a pretty good impact on my skin . I'm 63 and it does appear to look a little better.
I last around 8 to 15 m at first feels like a shock you wanna run or get out just get the feeling and breath a little bit more then put a side the water just a few seconds and go back and then you will tolerate more the cold after. After that get all the body full of water and then turn off and use the soap shampoo and verything you will notice that you breath and exhale vapor and feel the body tighter after that again cold water and the magic happens … now is not that cold anymore is more easy and you can stay longer as you like 👍🏻 then get out… you will feel after really energized at first out it’s cold but later start to feel burning fire . 🔥 hope tips works for you
Did he just say 20 minutes cold shower?!! 😮 🤯

I grew up poor. My family never had a heater growing up so we bathe in really cold water (about 3-5 degrees). Have been doing cold showers for 25 years and got so used to the coldness that it doesn’t feel like anything. I do feel amazing though!

But, what if i have illness?
Is it okay
Two to three minutes a day is all that is needed and I feel more people (who you want to help) will absolutely do this. I have been doing for 2-3 minutes a day I am 71 year old female and I had a brain concussion from car accident. The 2-3 minutes a day has helped me
Hi, I started taking cold showers because I heard it’s beneficial. I do feel better after taking cold showers. I started taking hot showers again and feel aches and pains more and want to go back to cold ones. I didn’t know cold therapy could work. I’m surprised it works well. Will keep doing.
Maybe if you’re just starting , start in the summer. Cold showers will be significantly colder in the winter
I only take cold showers, 1 before going to bed and 1 in the morning when I come out off my outside, not heated, Swimmingpool. This all year round. In winter it's a bit hard, but so helpfull for everything in your body and mind! Cheers from France
I’ve been doing this now and I feel as though it helps me adapt to the cold better because it’s much colder inside the shower than outside.
Hot water heater broke so we had no chance but to rough it until we could get another one installed,, I noticed it stopped a migraine
I take cold showers in the morning. I feel it to therapeutic on my body, and helps me to wake up!
Can soaking torn skin in cold water accelerate the healing process?
I take a cold shower when I'm hungover, it helps for sure.
Water heater went out a week ago and having local city ordinance issues getting a new one and everyone I call is not in our service area. I have struggled with trying to get a shower in so I decided to use my separate bath tub instead. I fill the tub with a couple of inches of water and use a rag with soap and then a rag without to rinse. Takes me a bit to fully rinse but I have been getting used to it. I then wash my hair after getting out of the bath with the sprayer and washing my hair has been easier. My hair is even looking better and more shiny.
I read chryochamber as 'Hamburger'
Cold shower hurts
I'm a old school military guy with many static line and HALO jumps and now I have lots of back/knee and joint pain and cold water therapy really helps with the sore muscles and joints sounds crazy but it does work I try to spend 5 to 10 minutes a day in the water outside even in Dec and Jan. Plus I sleep a lot better now.
Too bad cold shower causes heart attacks, other than that it's great
20 mins!!! You’re joking. I can’t even handle a minute 😳
Cold showers are excellent for excema skin, added bonus if you rub moisturiser all over your body whilst still wet and then air dry. Better than any doctors steroid creams.
I cant stand cold showers. But I recently rennovated my bathroom and added a tankless hot water heater. It was missing part so I had to return it and waited 2 weeks. Cold showers were unbearable at first but then I was noticing less joint pain…more mental clarity…more alertness and more restfull sleep…my skin even felt firmer….its like I had a metabolic reset as well…lost 7 lbs within 3 weeks eating all the same foods and very little exercise. Now I take cold showers am and pm. It help to soap up with warm water and then a long rinse head to toe with cold cold water. Have a towel near by in case of a draft.
I do 3 minutes every morning.

Hi I just started trying this as a therapy to reduce my stress levels and hopefully reset my body. I do feel better somehow already so whatever the benefits are i’m in!
I remember as a kid spending the day at the ocean in MA. Coldest friggin water. Totally numbing. But as kids we would jump about, in and out. I knew then it made us burn more calories because I was always FAMISHED [on the beach days] .. got keep that core at a temp, and need more calories. &&& I would imagine for thousands of years we would outside getting eggs, water, mucking stalls, doing laundry, etc., we were use to contrast situations. Now many people have a thermostat set, and sitting in a chair or standing in controlled environments etc 🙁
20 minutes ? nah
what is cold shower.. what temperature.. we have water at room temperature 25 degrees C
