Can a person be “cured” of Type 2 Diabetes? Dr. Sarah Hallberg provides compelling evidence that it can, and the solution is simpler than you might think.
Dr. Sarah Hallberg is the Medical Director of the Medically Supervised Weight Loss Program at IU Health Arnett, a program she created. She is board certified in both obesity medicine and internal medicine and has a Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology. She has recently created what is only the second non-surgical weight loss rotation in the country for medical students. Her program has consistently exceeded national benchmarks for weight loss, and has been highly successful in reversing diabetes and other metabolic diseases. Dr. Hallberg is also the co-author of www.fitteru.us, a blog about health and wellness.

This woman needs a nobel prize!
The best video about insuline resistence and diabetes 🎉❤
2:25 – Nowadays it's closer to 80% have pre-diabetes or diabetes.
I have type 2 diabetes I’m trying to control it.
IIRC she's passed away now, due to too few carbs most likely
She said we need zero carbs then how you will get fibre to digest food ?
Low carb is good but not everyone can afford in country like india and other developing countries..
Hopefully the legacy this woman left behind brings some small comfort to her family. Thousands of people's lives have been made better and saved outright thanks to her courage, passion and dedication.
This is something I learned from the "Pandemic" – the drug industry has a vested interest in keeping you sick – one of the ways they did this began around 100 years ago when there was a policy to declare all natural remedies to be quackery – and there was a silent campaign to have all references to natural remedies removed from medical literature…!
There is a cure for just about everything (including cancer) in nature – but anything found in nature cannot be patented so anyone can produce it – then there simply isn't enough profit in that for the major drug companies….!
One important detail she left out when comparing the two approaches to TYPE-2 Diabetes:
1. use medications like Metformin or Insulin.
2. Cure issue with diet, e.g. ketogenic diet.
Using #1 insulin, it is possible to go into HYPO-GLYCEMIA (low blood sugar) which can lead to death. However, #2 with Ketogenic diet, the risk does not exist.
#1 can unalive you.
#2 cannot.
I have been doing the KETOGENIC DIET for about 15 months, had a family history of many diabetics, e.g. aunts, uncles, cousins. So mid 50s having had two cataract eye surgeries, I finally stopped being in denial. After 5 months on the Ketogenic diet, my A1C was down to 5.7 and then got it checked again 5 months later, it was 5.1. I don't eat processed food. What is that? The foods typically on the inside aisles of any grocery store is factory made, i.e. breads, pizza, pasta, chips, breakfast cereals… they are k i l l i n g U.S.
In essence, the foods on the outside perimeter of a grocery store are healthy and what i eat, vegetables, fish, steak, beef hamburger, bacon, sausage, chicken, eggs, a little bit of dairy like cream and less than a cup of milk per day (lactose is a carbohydrate). Cured of type-2 diabetes.
In addition, I keep learning so in the last 6 months, I have added INTERMITTENT FASTING. I eat with 8 hour window and fast the other 16 hours. Occasionally i squeeze my food in 5 to 6 hours, and fast the rest of the day until the next day. This will cure Type-2 diabetes, OBESITY, and Insulin Resistance…fast! Check out Youtube channels: Dr Ken Berry, Dr Livinggood, Dr Paul Saladino, Dr Casey Means, Dr Dhand, SteakNButterGal… for starters.
Dr Ken Berry has videos on how to do it on a budget.
An outstanding talk! Thank you, Dr. Hallberg, for speaking the truth that so many — even within the medical field — have overlooked: “You cannot medicate your way out of a disease caused by food.” Understanding insulin, reducing carbohydrate intake, and properly embracing healthy fats completely changed how I view health. If only this knowledge had been shared more widely earlier, it could have saved millions from medication dependence and devastating complications.

Diableen Capsules from Planet Ayurveda really helped in managing my sugar levels naturally
VRK diet saying the same
thanks so much
low or no carb is fine if you're not exercising a lot / live a pretty sedentary lifestyle, but as an endurance athlete (with diabetes) it's absolutely not possible to go without starches.
Totally agree! Planet Ayurveda's products have been a game-changer for my grandma's diabetes management"
How about yiur type to diabetes but yiur not over weight. Instead yiur not gaining weight how was that? How to gain
As an Indian i miss you Dr Sarrah as you advocated much more against the theories of good health put forward by various Medical associations. 🌹🙏🌹RIP
What are the best fats to eat..
I joined an international fellowship of people who eat this way. It's called Greysheet. Anyone can attend meetings online and get a sponsor. There are no dues or fees, we are self supporting through our own contributions. We are not affiliated with any outside entity, we have no opinion on outside issues. Our primary purpose is to stay abstinent (from carbs and unlimited volume) and to help others to achieve abstinence.
12:45 FALSE!!!
People who lived over 100 they all eat GRAINS, it's healthy

Diabetes is not a disease. It’s a condition. They call it a disease to make trillions. It’s a made up word for “you’re eating too much sugar.”
It’s not complicated, it’s super easy. Do not allow ANY carbs in your home if you’re too tempted. Carbs are not and never should be considered a “food group”.
Breakfast (as late as possible after you wake. Eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, cheese (sharp as possible), broccoli.
Dinner any meat, dark green vegetables.
Add if you like (after making sure they didn’t sneak sugar in) butter, sour cream, ranch dressing, almost any non sweet spice.
That’s it. MEAT and green VEGETABLES. Plain is easiest but add if you like pink salt / pepper / spices.
No prepared foods, no pasta, no rice, no potatoes, no bread, no cereals. Nothing that comes in a box. When you goto the grocery store you should visit the outer perimeter only. Middle isles are 95% bad. Meat and Vegetables. 🥩 🥗
No carbs. Eat as much of the above as you want. Your blood sugar has no choice but to go down – guaranteed. If you’re not diabetes free after this, you’re cheating.
The biggest problem with the above is AVAILABILITY. Your entire kitchen should contain only meat and green vegetables. Secondly, people panic because it can be overwhelming knowing what you can’t eat when they should be concentrating on what you CAN eat – yep, meat and green vegetables.
Once you get past month 1 – then you can start to add on the other 100’s of specific things you can eat with little or no carbs.
TONS of “KETO” items of the above if it’s too hard for you. They make some decent breads and pasta. Even chocolate/ snack bars. But again, try not to use them until at least a month has passed.
"Great talk! Reversing type 2 diabetes with diet is possible. Inspiring results!"
Why do you call insulin the hormone for glucose storage? I know it is also for letting glucose into the cells for use. And what does it mean insulin resistance is carbohydrate intolerance, what does that mean? Not clear.
When Dr. Sarah Hallberg says "no sugar", can anyone tell me what she means by this? No refined sugar? Are sugar alternatives okay? I wonder what she is using to make those muffins.
I am just discovering the high carbohydrate quantity in fruits, so I will be more wary of snacking on fruit.
The wording of the warning is the most ridiculous, non-proofed BS. Sure the talk isn't direct medical advice, sure if you drastically change your diet you should monitor. There is NO risk in KETOSIS >>>> the term is KETOACIDOSIS …two totally different things.
I was just diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes last week. Been overweight my whole life & ready to change. 🙏🏽🏋🏽♀️💪🏽🦵🏽Watching this video gives me hope and other people's success stories in reversing diabetes.
Great video, thank you for all this good information.

Ten years later and Im amazed at the vast amount of people who have reversed their type 2 diabetes . Such a healthy way to live . I’m forever grateful to the doctors who go beyond the outdated training they receive . It’s a shame Ted doesn’t understand the difference between ketosis and ketoacidosis .
If every type 2 was given a CGM to see how much different foods spike their blood sugar they would understand the truth this brilliant doctor speaks . DIABETES TYPE 2 CAN BE REVERSED. ❤️❤️❤️
The bad, and factually erroneous, advice and information, is in fact in the "note from TED!" The irony!
This video by the late Dr. Sarah Hallberg was/is groundbreaking. Even 10 years later, we need to spread this far and wide. This information goes against the standard of care, which is exactly what she's saying, and it's saving lives every day. RIP Dr. Hallberg.
Come on TED: Nutritional ketosis, achieved through a well-planned ketogenic diet, is generally considered safe for most individuals when implemented correctly and with appropriate monitoring, especially if done under the guidance of a healthcare professional or registered dietitian. Your warning is misguided and not justified without stating 👆what is well known and documented by medical professionals: that it’s safe.
The warning belongs on the Ted talks promoting high carb diets for diabetes
Shameful YouTube/ TED warning. Nutritional ketosis is a normal physiological state. It has nothing to do with diabetic ketoacidosis caused by the misapplication of excessive insulin as a pharmaceutical.
and yet people are still dying from diabetes in record numbers
The note from TED in the description is nonsensical. I understand wanting to warn against interpreting this as individual medical advice, but the attempt to justify that by warning against 'ketosis' is erroneous and I expect stems from confusion with "diabetic ketoacidosis". Unfortunately, the UK NHS page on the subject shows similarly garbled understanding. Interesting that my previous attempt to comment on this has disappeared… Possibly because I included links to the objectively incorrect NHS page and a link to storymd for a better explanation… It's far from clear how I may have violated the external links policy.
