If you're a dad that's over 40 and too busy with everything going on with your life, in this video I want to talk about why choosing strength training over cardio might be the best option for you to lose body fat. Now, when we're talking about your entire life and how busy you get, I I I get it. You have your kids, you have your spouse, you have your job. Things can get very very busy and feeling overwhelming. And having your hell prioritized feels like it's a guilty thing to do. But I find it hard to believe that no matter how busy we get, we can always find little pockets of times to just really get a good exercise in. So if you were to choose between 15 minutes of strength training versus 15 minutes of cardio, I will always lean towards strength training because you're going to build muscle at that point. And having more muscle mass on your your your frame is going to help you get your metabolism much much faster. So even when you're actively resting, you would be burning more calories in that sense. So it in the in an ideal world, we would be able to do everything. But if you were to choose only one, strength training is the way to go. And you don't have to do a full hour. Heck, you don't even need a gym to get a good uh strength training session. You can do body weight stuff like push-ups and squats and lunges and pull-ups, inverted rows if you can uh if you can't do pull-ups, but there's lots of ways that you could just get straight into the workout without driving to the gym or or, you know, wasting time. Because we all know as dads that we have a limited amount of time and also a limited amount of energy to to just focus on ourselves uh because we have kids and stuff. Like today, um I'm shooting this YouTube video. I just dropped off my kid. I only have maybe an hour to film this video and do a workout. So, this video now that I'm filming is going to take me maybe 30 minutes or so. Um, I've been doing many takes on this and thinking about it and trying to figure out the thumbnail and stuff. So, for me, it's just starting and and doing it. And whether or not I finish it today or not, it's it's okay. Just getting to to do it makes me better. And the same thing with exercise. So, if you have no idea what to do as exercise, the best advice to do is to just start, right? And usually the easiest thing is to just hop on the treadmill and and start walking. And that's a good start. That's a great starting point. But the best thing I think you can do is getting down on the floor, doing some push-ups, doing some sit-ups, um doing some lunges, and that's that's by far a much quicker way. As long as you're challenging yourself, you're building muscle, and you're also, you know, getting your heart rate up and everything. So, strength training. Um, and of course that uh when you're doing cardio, it may be easy to start, but then it gets a little bit boring, I think. And if you just if you're doing something that you don't enjoy doing, you're not going to do it for a very long time. Whereas strength training, you can do it many different ways. And if you do it properly, it's a lot easier on your joints as well. And there's many ways to challenge yourself. So, there's lots of ways to keep things noble in your workouts, whether it's, um, a hit, so you can do it even shorter. So, um, highintensity interval training, you can do straight sets, you can do pyramids, there's plenty of different ways to do it, but the most important thing is to just start exercising and you learn about yourself and you learn how to get better along the way. Um, a lot of times we just don't even start things because we just feel like we don't know what to do or it's overwhelming, like the goal is too far away uh to even bother starting. So again, I'm not saying that you should skip cardio. Uh cardio is also a good part of the day and you can add that in into your your daily activities. So things like walking throughout day is great and I would recommend you walk after every meal. um just just set a timer for 10 minutes and just start walking and you know in a whole day you would get 30 minutes u I'm assuming if you're eating three meals a day. But cardio is not a bad thing. Again I'm coming at it is if you only had 15 to 20 minutes a day to do some sort of exercise, always go with strike training because that's going to be the biggest bang for your buck. So, I hope you got some value from this video today, and I'll see you on the next
