hey everyone welcome back to the channel for another video I'm Derek from simnet nutrition and today I'm going to be talking to you about 10 benefits that you can expect when eating a healthy plant-based diet so the reason why I emphasize a healthy plant-based diet is because you can't just eat anything that's vegan and expect to reap the benefits we know that there are a bunch of unhealthy vegan friendly Foods out there and it doesn't mean that we can't ever have these but if you want to reap all the benefits that are associated with a plant-based diet you definitely want one that is centered around whole and minimally processed plant Foods this includes whole grains legumes fruits nuts seeds berries potatoes even whole grain pastas breads tofu tempeh and that's why I say minimally processed because there's a big difference between those foods and highly processed foods basically you can't just go to the freezer section and sub out the regular processed foods you're eating for vegan processed foods and expect to feel awesome sure those foods can help you in the beginning especially if your transition but whole plant foods are where it's at and where the health benefits lie so of course I could go on and on about all the research and evidence that shows a plant-based diet can help heart disease diabetes lower your blood pressure lower cholesterol minimize your risk of stroke help reduce menstrual cramps and even help with some of the bugs that are going around these days but what I want to talk about in this video are some of the Lesser known benefits of a healthy plant-based diet and some of the things that I experienced when I switched over so grab some tea or a smoothie sit back let's get into these number one reduced risk of foodborne illness So Gone are the days of me being paranoid that only spreading E coli around the kitchen or that I'm gonna you know contaminate The Cutting Board or anything like that of course food safety is always important but I definitely never worry much about that anymore meat and other animal products along with not cooking them properly is the leading cause of foodborne illness and don't even get me started about the rotten parasite infected fish and pork and stuff like that that is in the grocery stores I definitely never have to worry about that with beans and rice number two you end up saving money so I've personally found that eating a plant-based diet especially one that's really high in Whole Foods has been great for my bank account so have you seen the price of meat recently especially if you want to be eating that pasture raised grass-fed stuff like everyone says that they do it's just insane I no longer have to worry about affording good quality food because bulk legumes grains and starches what I base my diet around are way more affordable than those even when purchased organic and with the cost of food and everything else going up it really does make a difference can you imagine how many beans I can get for 17 dollars or I could get two chicken breasts I don't know number three you end up trying a bunch of new foods and cooking them is actually pretty fun so contrary to popular belief there are actually a ton of different plant foods to choose from and it really wasn't until I went vegan that I got out of my comfort zone of cooking the same old meals you know just sort of like that protein a bit of rice and then some broccoli or something like that that it really started to experiment in the kitchen not only that but it made me absolutely fall in love with cooking and if you can do that and start making most of your meals at home yourself your health is gonna thank you for it trust me I absolutely love finding new plant foods and cooking methods to experiment with there are so many different veggies pulses grains legumes seasonings that I'd never even thought about trying before going vegan and now they're in my heavy rotation like check out this amazing Romanesco broccoli that I found today with the Fibonacci fractals they are beautiful and tasted good too so number four it is absolutely great for your digestion so those who know oh but if you're tired of like reading the back of shampoo bottles waiting for something to happen in the bathroom you probably want to start eating some more higher fiber foods I often think back to when I was younger and I would have so many stomach aches it was pretty much just the norm for me but now I very rarely get stum cakes my digestion is great I almost never get any indigestion heartburn acid reflux or any of that eating whole plant Foods definitely increases your fiber intake and that is great in the long term but when you're first transitioning to A Whole Foods plant-based diet it can be pretty tough I'm not gonna lie to you so you want to increase your fiber intake gradually I definitely have videos for people who are transitioning to a vegan diet or people who want to help their digestion so I will put a link to those in the description box and also like clickable Links at the end number five this is probably my favorite one but you get to eat more volume like who doesn't love to eat so plant foods are much lower in caloric density than animal products are so you get to eat a lot of food and when you make amazing amazing meals like this guy does here that is a good thing but honestly because whole plant foods are so fiber and water Rich it's really hard to overeat and they really are self-limiting so for example if you eat around 100 grams of cheddar cheese you're going to be eating about 400 calories worth of food compare that to something like tofu if you're eating 100 grams of tofu you're going to be getting around 110 calories so you can just imagine how much more food you can eat so if you like to eat think about going plant-based and then this next one kind of piggybacks on that number six it makes weight management much easier so if you've been following me for a little while you know that I stay pretty lean year round and to be honest with you I don't really try that hard to do it I don't count calories I don't take any diet pills I don't count my macros or anything like that I just make sure that my diet is based around whole and minimally processed plant foods but of course it should be said that I don't just like sit around all day I do have a fairly active lifestyle I work out and you know I try and like ride my bike and go for a jog things like that a few times a week so when I am trying to get more calories in I just increase the caloric density of the plant foods that I'm eating so I will up the fat I'll eat more avocado more nuts and seeds more nut Butters having more smoothies is really helpful because that's an easy way to get in some extra calories and then if I want to cut down a bit let's say it's getting close to Spring and I got a little bit of winter weight I want to shed well then I just increase my intake of fresh and raw fruits and vegetables and then I'll cut down on any processed foods that I'm eating and that includes nut Butters it really doesn't take much just these small changes and it usually just happens naturally with the seasons you know help me to manage my weight number seven and this one's kind of weird kind of gross but it's one of the first things that I noticed when I started eating a healthier plant-based diet is less eye crusties in the corner of my eye when I woke up in the morning so yeah I know it's weird but it is one of the first things that I noticed I used to just always wake up and that was like kind of the first thing I do you know you kind of your eyes feel weird you kind of rub your eyes you pull those out of the corner of your eye but I started noticing it was within like maybe two weeks of going plant-based of course this is a healthy plant-based diet that they seem to just like go away and I definitely never have them anymore and I asked Crystal the same thing and she was like yeah I definitely noticed that and I don't ever have any when I wake up either so you'll have to let us know down below if that's something you experienced as well so I actually looked up to see what the eye crusts are kind of made of what their makeup is and I found it's made up of mostly mucus and then also you know tears and dead skin cells so yeah less mucus sounds about right to me number eight improve skin and less acne so when I was in my teenage years I had problem skin I had quite a bit of acne and it really bothered me actually it was terrible for my self-esteem so I ended up going on Accutane if you guys know what that is it's a very powerful drug that can help with acne but there's also some really serious and potentially long-term side effects from that but at the time I didn't really care I just wanted better skin and if you guys want me to talk a bit more about that in another video or a q a or something I definitely can and then in my early 20s I noticed it started to come back and it wasn't until I dropped the dairy any eggs that it went away completely and for good I never imagined that I would have the skin that I have now when I was younger and like even in my 20s but yeah it's just amazing so eggs were actually the last Animal product that gave up I just couldn't figure out what to have for breakfast don't know why it took me so long to find smoothies but it did anyways uh one pattern that I noticed was that every time I would sort of reintroduce them or have them again I would get these really deep and painful pimples sort of around the corners of my chin here and when I stopped eating eggs they would just completely go away so you know take it for what it is but if you have those problems and you want your skin to improve maybe try dropping the dairy and the eggs for a little while and see if things improve and that definitely includes whey that's in you know some of the protein powders you definitely want to move to a more plant-based protein powder so number nine decreased joint pain I remember in my 20s I would have terrible arthritic like pain in my hands and in my ankles and I just chalked it up to getting arthritis young I had no idea you know if that's what it really was but I figured it was I thought maybe it was from like cracking my Knuckles a bunch or just like using my hands too much you know 15 years later I still crack my Knuckles and I still use my hands a lot and I have absolutely no joint pain I remember trying to play the guitar and just thinking dang my hands hurt so much I'm never gonna be able to do this and now I still think that but it's not because my hand hurts it's actually just because I suck number 10 I feel more calm peaceful and connected with nature so I'm sure there's many factors here but I just remember when I first went vegan my appreciation for nature and animals just skyrocketed I was so excited just to get outside in nature and observe the things around me I felt calm patient loving and I just felt like I couldn't experience enough life so those are 10 things that can happen to you when you eat a healthy plant-based diet but I actually have another one an 11th bonus one and I had to include this one because it's true and funny at the same time is that others around you will assume that you're super healthy but also nutrient deficient at the same time it's a pretty wild dichotomy but it's true and it happens I'm sure I've missed benefits that some of you notice so definitely put those in the comments section down below so that's it thank you so much for clicking on this video watching it through all the way to the end and if you need help with either your digestion or if you're new vegan and you want help going vegan check out one of these two videos here if you need some recipes I just recently released a recipe ebook called easy vegan Comfort meals 61 recipes there's over 20 homemade sauces in there and I'm super proud of it it turned out really well everyone's loving it thank you to everyone who's already purchased it so don't forget to like the video subscribe share it with someone you think it might help and I will see you soon with another one bye

So many contradictory messages. Carnivores that say they got healed from xyz by going carnivore, even after years and years of being vegetarian or vegan. Then vegans saying they got healed from xyz eating only plants. I wonder if it is a question of eliminating food groups ? But then I don't read vegans telling they got healed from diabetes. There are several who got healed from artritis. But then there are several carnivores who had artritis while being vegan, and who got healed going carnivore. By the time one is 90 it may be clear which diet is good for which person … 😔
They claim us to be defiant in b12 and k2 but i certainly don't feel defiant in anything. i hardly ever get sick these days. i use to have a cold every year when i was not watching what i put in but since i switched over to vegan have hardly ever had a cold and when i do get anything i feel normal but have a bit of runny nose where as before i use to feel terrible when ever i got a cold or anything.
When you eat nothing but plants your mind starts to slip from what I've seen!!!all the mental problems start to grow!!
In my late 50‘s I had problems walking up the stairs. My knees hurt really bad. Now I am 70, and after 11 years plant based, I have no problems walking up stairs and have no pain.
My acid reflux and heart palpitations COMPLETELY STOPPED when I went WFPB!!!! True story!!!! ❤
There's an equal number of people that plant based nearly killed or made very sick. I'm one. Meat saved my life. And animal fat. Good luck everyone.
I can vouch for all of these except I never had many eye crusties to begin with LOL
If you're starting out just know that it will feel weird and extreme at first. But soon it will feel very normal and deviating from it will feel wrong. One negative side affect is you'll grow more concerned for your family members that eat processed foods and junk. I think the only way to influence them is to keep your mouth and let them see how plants are improving your own health. People are super defensive when it comes to diet advice even if they don't show it.
No no no no
I respect your decision to go plant based but eating meat fish and diary isn’t bad for us. God made them to be eaten!
It also helps inflammation and congestion
Can someone suggest a good vegan book that includes kid approved recipes?? I find it hard to stick to a 100% vegan diet since kids dont like vegan food always.
Thank you 💛 🙏🏼
Darn.. I was vegan for 18 months cured my digestive issues and went back to regular foods
Also had lost xtra 60 lbs put on after dealing with fibromyalgia medically
I’ve kept the weight normal here last 4plus years
I need to recommit..
plants produce a bunch of "chevelure"
My stamina and recovery as a professional basketball player improved compared to college. I was not sore or aching after games. I'm never usually sick. My skin does not break out anymore. No bad breathe naturally when I wake up. My memory and brain heightened. After my cleanse, my body odor after workouts, essentially is non existent from what my brother mentioned to me. In the past, I was really conscious about this.
Just curious. Cos there are videos that says a carnivore diet has made them feel good, and some has became so much better with a vegetarian diet
the only time I actually found parasites in my food here in Europe is organic fruits ( plums and apples) and organic baby spinach leaves. It once happened to me to find them by hundreds in my rice as well…
Eating an omnivore diet is catastrophic.
Eating strictly plant based is way healthier.
But eating raw vegan is from another world. Just base on nuts and oleaginous seeds, which have high calorie density.
I've been vegan since 2003 (21 years) and raw vegan since feb. 2023. I can make the difference
I never have the hiccups anymore, strange but true.
Heard it also from other people who went plantbased.
Does going vegetarian make you sound like your on helium all the time?
I tried clean vegan for 4 months, didn’t work for me, went back to omnivore, I feel way better
It's the new natural selection! If you're an adult with access to information, and you decide to not give your body and brain a proper diet, you want to die. Veganism is a suicidal diet!
My dandruff went away
Wow I've never seen a man like DR AKHIGBE HERBAL REMEDIES ON YouTube who's herbal remedies flow through he's blood, within 71 day's I came in contact with him my HERPES is totally cured!
I noticed that too
When you go Vegan you stop eating tortured beings 💚✌️
Where are you shopping that two chicken breasts cost $17? I came here hoping for some objective educational content about your bias is pretty obvious.
Your skin glows!!!!
I had multiple benefits, some of which you've covered, but another one that both of us noticed is: no more constipation. In fact, after going WFPB in the beginning we were having those constitutionals several times a day. It has now moderated in terms multiple times a day, but certainly once or twice every day. It's because of all the good and natural fibre we take in. Huge relief. Also, I feel decades younger! and I'm in my 70's.
Really informative dear!!, i only believe in ayurveda.
There is no Mad Tofu Disease, just sayin'
I’m going to try this diet I tried carnivore didn’t work for me !! So I will be back with my update
I’m new to plant based but what I’ve noticed is I sleep better and my memory is better too.
For all the vegan people… you guys will love nourish maxx by planet Ayurveda. It is completely vegan, herbal and remedial in its own way.
Do you have a cookbook ?
many vegans are nutrient deficient a high ratio of people cant absorb the nutrients on a vegan diet
