namaste this is Sapna welcome to my home mother nature has blessed us with so many different seasons and depending us to where we live the timing of the seasons change in Ayurveda being mindful the change in the seasons and changing our lifestyle and the way we eat and the choices of our exercise routines and our food and our spices have a great impact on our overall health and also our Velva fall season in Ayurveda is referred to as the season of vada the Sanskrit word bata means is derived from the word ma and hua means movement so bata is the energy of movement or mobility it's the mobility and movement in the seasons it's also vodka can be found in the foods that we eat vada is made up of the two great elements namely space and air so the qualities of Vata are dry cold rough mobile what happens in the fall season which actually is a season of transition we are transitioning from the heat of the summer which was predominantly the Pintus season to a season of Vata where the heat is now getting trans cause dry windy quality and so be mindful when you are transitioning from that end of summer beginning of fall to full-blown fall season the focus of this video is specifically to talk about the taste of the fall season according to Ayurveda there are six tastes in nature sweet sour salty bitter pungent and astringent now I did talk about just a minute ago about the qualities of vaca being dry rough cold now before I move on any further I want to talk to you about a very fundamental Ayurvedic principle you must remember this at all times and I can guarantee it's gonna help you and many different to find many different answers the secret mantra or the founding principle is like increases like and opposites create balance so if the fall season has the qualities of dry windy cold rough by eating foods that are only gonna be dry light cold they're gonna be increasing or aggravating the Bata qualities in our bodies now remember all the time we are a microcosm in this macrocosm so if the seasons change our patterns of eating our patterns of lifestyles must go in conjunction with a change in the season so in order to create balance we must choose opposite qualities so let's focus our energies on the different food groups and let's see one of the most favorable foods that are gonna be grounding warm heavy qualities that are favorable for the fall season and the foods that are gonna be favorable according to the taste that is sweet sour and salty so let's start off with grains all grains whether it's rice or wheat or quinoa they are naturally sweet and taste fall season is wonderful for us to enjoy rice the most saatvik or easy to digest rice is basmati rice or long grain rice from India wheat can be enjoyed in the fall season it's wonderful and then quinoa is a great millet to be enjoyed so it's used in cooking war it's a grain but it actually is a millet all of these can be enjoyed at the fall season amaranth is a wonderful I'm going to be enjoyed in the fall season as well lentils provide a stringent taste in our diet so I know the fall season has sweet sour and salty but we do need lentils if you're following a plant-based diet the some of the lentils that do not aggravate water quality in us are moved ow so this is yellow moong dal that's easy to digest and does not increase gas or vodka qualities then this is a black gram dal of Oded dal this is actually excellent to be enjoyed during the cooler feathers of baka season so is kidney beans or red beans or black beans all of those can be enjoyed in the fall season this last doll is called tolda or pigeon peas and they are also wonderful to be enjoyed during the fall or the Barthel season let's talk about oils or fats so fats and oils are wonderful because bhakta is what it's dry and it's cold so you want to reach out for oils that are warming and provide that oily quality and anxious quality in us and the number one oil to be enjoyed during the fall season is sesame oil sesame is heating and warming so it's wonderful otherwise that I don't have out here but you can enjoy our almond oil is great sunflower oil is wonderful so also great at the fall season but you have to be mindful you know if your lipids are really elevated if your cholesterol is really elevated so you want to be mindful as the amount of the quality or the quantity of oils that you will need in your daily diet so always have that and mindfulness of when you're making those choices I have several nuts here in front of me I tell people in the fall season is a great season to go nuts with nuts and as far as not so concerned again moderation is the key because nuts are excellent but you need to know how much to eat so a handful of nuts as a snack every day in the fall season if you're medically allowed it should be totally fine and it's actually great snack to be enjoyed in the fall season you can also enjoy dried and fruits some of my favorites for the fall are apricots are days raisins they are great to build urges and immunity I'm gonna move my attention now to the sweeteners natural sweeteners are excellent for the fall season honey is my number one choice to sweeten some herbal teas or even having a spoonful of honey in the morning is a great prophylactic or preventative way to build a part in unity in the fall season spices now you know when you see my videos I always talk about spices spice it up in fall season this is an excellent season to use an array of all different spices I don't think there's any spice that is bad for the fall season so use spices to stimulate you know your dishes use spices to add all the healing properties some spices are just so wonderful this and then I had the other spices that I had here in front are some black peppercorns cloves cardamom and the two here are ginger and garlic ginger and garlic are wonderful because they are heating and warming again so they're excellent to be used during the fall season so next let's talk about vegetables and fruits that are wonderful for the fall season so just to recap again the taste of the fall season that is most appropriate are foods that are gonna be sweet sour and salty so think about you know oranges they're naturally sweet and also sour think about grapes hunkiness is in season so think about foods that are naturally found in the fall season and those are gonna be most appropriate the other vegetables that I enjoy our root vegetables I would have to say that sweet potatoes is a better choice than white potatoes white potatoes actually increase bata where our sweet potatoes decrease about that all winter squash are raised zucchini is wonderful during the fall season beets or beet roots are excellent to be enjoy during the fall season and okra also is an excellent choice of vegetables during the fall season it has a little astringent quality in it but also it is you know lightly sweet in those can be enjoyed greens if they are cooked are wonderful for the fall season so I would say take a break from salads in the fall season take a break from raw vegetables take a break from raw juices if you are a juice person a raw green juice person take all of those vegetables and you're gonna make into it Ron juice cook it up into a broth or pick it up into a soup or a stew this is the season to enjoy vegetables that are hope that are emotions that have warm add some warming spices to your vegetables that release that health around me qualities in our in our diet in our health and our goal be so soups stews stay away from salads stay away from snacks that are also airy and light like popcorn stay away from dry crackers you know this is a wonderful season to enjoy warm or Maltese or spice infuse peace so favored warm versus cold things our favorite cooked versus raw so those are some of the tips for as far as eating and cooking are concerned let's talk about a theory for a minute so dairy milk products and our new cage during the fall season milk is wonderful actually before season so long as it's had more I would say cheese is also wonderful for the fall season if that's something that you enjoy so leave some of the things that are favorable for fall season that's gonna help us take ground dead that's helped us gonna stay nourished during this dry hold the together of all I hope you enjoyed this video and you learn some of the foods and I hope you will incorporate some of these functions in your fall feast look for videos all season long I'll be talking about easy I'll be talking about tips
