Beard Care Routines for all beard stages and lengths
what's up guys my name is Spencer I'm co-founder here at live bearded and today we're breaking down the perfect beard care routine for each beard stage from stubble to Long all right let's get into it each stage of beard growth comes with its own unique set of challenges there's a lot of overlap in the type of beard product and beard care you need at different beard lengths double beards and long beards actually have some overlap so in this video we're covering everything there's going to be some overlap through the different beard stages so please look below at the time stamp see what beard style best suits your design look or what you currently have and you can zoom forward or back to get the beard care routine for that length or you can watch the whole thing if you want to see stage one the stubble beard care routine now guys at this stage your beard is just now coming in it can feel like sandpaper and it's super common to have itchiness and uneven growth here's what you need to do step one cleanse guys you want to wash your face daily with a gentle cleanser to remove dirt and oil and natural beard wash is ideal even at this stage as it's designed for your face unlike shampoo body wash and so step two exfoliate use a bore hair brush to gently brush your face and new beard hairs daily brushing your beard even at the stubble stage helps remove dead skin cells prevents ingrown hairs and boost circulation which can actually Aid a new beard hair growth step three moisturize apply beard oil daily to moisturize the skin and soften the stubble this combats the dreaded beard itch which happens due to your new found beard hairs drawing the oils away from your face leaving it dry and irritated almost every guy experiences this it's super normal and it's fortunately a super easy fix beard oil all right next up the short beard routine step one cleanse keep washing your face and beard daily with a gentle cleanser or beard wash and avoid soaps and body washes at all costs Guys these can be much too harsh and will actually cause more harm than good step two condition guys here at this stage you want to use a beard conditioner to keep your beard hair soft and moisturized this is an absolute GameChanger for Beard softness and overall growth and health even at this shorter stage step three beard oil guys you want to continue daily beard oil application to nourish the skin and give your beard a healthy environment to thrive in and step four beard butter now if you live in a dry climate or get dirty throughout the day use beard butter to style and tame your beard this will keep your beard soft and looking great all day long number five brush your beard again guys use a b hair brush at this length to train your beard to grow in the desired Direction just like parting your hair for the first time get those hairs to really lay down and cooperate this is also going to bring circulation to the skin again to promote better growth and prevent ingrown hairs all right and number six lastly trim your beard I know this is daunting but at this length you want to begin shaping your beard with regular trims focus on setting your Top Line back line and neckline and find the guard lengths that give your beard the length and style you prefer all right now on to the medium beard care routine at this length you may encounter split ends dryness and unruly hairs here's how to handle it step one still got to cleanse continue washing your beard with a specialized beard wash to avoid stripping natural oils daily wash washing is absolutely safe with a natural beard wash especially if you're active and you're sweating or getting dirty step two condition guys no surprise you need to continue to condition your beer daily if you're looking for some extra softness though let it set in for a few minutes before rinsing it out so get your wash get your conditioner in there leave it in for a couple minutes to really set in and absorb all right step three back to the beard oil keep using beard oil daily guys to prevent itchiness and dry skin if you haven't noticed this is important in every stage of beard growth from the very short to very long beard oil is a foundation of a great beard step four beard butter now guys as your Beard's growing longer here beard butter is absolutely non-negotiable because you're going to need the conditioning benefits of beard butter and more importantly The Styling and the hold to tame those flyaways and keep your beard looking uniform all right step five brush and comb your beard you want to use your comb to detangle and a brush to style your beard a nice trick that I found for a fuller beard appearance is actually take your comb comb it underneath and separate all the beard hairs out and when you comb it back down and into place it's actually going to make your beard look nice and full all right guys number six we're back to the beard trim regular trims will keep your beard looking sharp again focus on the cybin areas and the top lines back lines you can be a little bit more flexible as your beard gets longer as the added growth won't actually be as much of a proportion increase so you can be a little more flexible with how often you're trimming but find a routine that works for you every week every couple weeks to keep your beard looking tight all right for those of you with a full beard maintaining a good style and managing unruly hairs is crucial here's your full beard beard care routine step one cleanse guys you want to wash your beard daily with a beard wash or as needed based on your activity level so again if you're getting sweaty and dirty definitely need to wash that thing every day step two condition your beard guys you want to stick to your medium beard conditioning routine which means after you wash apply your conditioner but at this length you want to consider a leave-in conditioner at least once or twice a week as even conditioning daily can leave your beard dry so consider a product like night cap which is a leave-in conditioner you can apply it in at night let it soak in and really lock in the Deep moisture step three beard oil you guessed it continue daily use of beard oil massage into the skin possibly with a little bit more cuz as your hairs grow longer it's going to continue pulling more oils away from your face all right and number four guys here is beard butter use beard butter for deep conditioning and style it's going to keep your beard soft and manageable and of course smelling great all day long number five brush and comb guys you want to brush your beard daily to keep it tangle-free and use a comb for styling you can't put a hat on your face so never leave the house without spinning at least a few minutes to make it look look good all right step six trimming your beard guys regular trimming is just always going to give your beard a better shape and Better Health you always want to focus on the Sideburn and the cheek areas is that area will make the biggest impact on how intentional your beard looks but as your beard gets longer again you can get away with going a little bit longer between your trims because taking that length off with the proportions are going to be different right so at this length you can afford to go a little bit longer and I recommend considering going and seeing a barber to set your beard and then those at home trims will be much easier to maintain because they've given you a really good Baseline trim that you can work off of finally the long beard stage now combating dryness while keeping your beard looking presentable takes just a little bit of work here's your long beard care routine step one cleanse your routine Remains the Same here guys use a natural beard wash daily to clean without causing damage if this seems redundant by now it's because it is you need to use a good allnatural high quality product that not cause damage to your beard step two deep condition use your beard condition daily again after you wash then you really need that leave-in conditioner at least twice a week to lock in the moisture and really keep your beard soft step three beard oil at this length guys you really want to apply a generous amount of beard oil daily to keep your skin and your beard healthy a great beard starts underneath the Skin So by applying beard oil nourishing the skin it's going to promote healthier better beard growth and as you grow it longer it's going to be Fuller and healthier that four is beard butter so after you apply your beard oil follow it with your beard butter for styling and additional conditioning it's going to lock in that moisture and again give you that hold which is especially critical as your beard gets longer to combat things like the wind and just everyday elements that are going to throw your beard off beard butter is going to lock it in and keep it looking great all day long number five brush and comb guys you want to detangle your beard with a wide tooth comb or a beard pick because often times if your Beard's longer and full those smaller Combs can actually snag and rip out beard hairs which doesn't feel good and it's not healthy for your beard and number six the beard trim now with a bigger beard often comes a the luxury of not having to trim very often or really at all depending on your preferred style for a nice style look though again focus on the Sideburn cheek areas consider fading in for a real stylish look patience and consistency are everything here guys so enjoy the journey and if you need anything let You guys really need to put something up about using heat, whether it be a blow dryer or a heated beard brush. Iâm really surprised you guys donât sell a good heated brush.
I would disagree with beard oil for stubble.
What is the difference between beard oil and butter? Can I just use oil daily?
Great video for Beard Care Routines for all beard stages and lengths. I have admit the beard trim is so important and the butter is a must. Love the shirt too!
Really appreciate the info. These videos really help me take care of my beard. Thanks!!
Just plain water is all you need
This is an awesome and simple input for everyone and stage

Great products and even better advice for those looking make the most of their beard. I especially appreciate how they've broken out their advice based on beard stage. Keep up the good work. Cheers!
Should you use brush daily even on longer beard?
đvery true! helpful to help especial the tips during the first few stages
Great tips!! Everything helps.
This is great advice. I have found that having a longer beard works for me. I don't have to trim hardly at all. Just every few months just to clean up the sideburns and cheek lines. And I swear by using the leave in conditioner twice a week.
Iâve tried longer lengths before and found it just wasnât for me, and thatâs okay. The beard doesnât have to be miles long to be sexy đ your products help me keep it maintained no matter the length đ«Ą
Great tips for various stages. I change up length types often
Great advice guys…I use Tombstone scented products daily!! By far the best stuff out there…thanks!!
Okay Spencer I've got my routine down but one question I have is should I apply beard oil after I shower? Allow me to clarify. I work the morning shift and after work I hit the gym and such. By the time I shower it's mid afternoon and I go to bed in the early evening. Should I just apply the beard oil after my shower and then apply the nightcap before bed? Or should I skip the oil and apply the nightcap before bed?
All great advice. I love, and use all of your products. The only thing you didn't address is the use of heat (blow drying or heated brush) to help tame the longer beard and get rid of dents, waves and curls. Thanks for the video and thanks for running such a great company.
You have only one low-viscosity beard oil which has done nothing to address my beardruff, and your beard butter does nothing to tame flyawaysâstraightening with heat is actually effective.
Thanks voir the viceo. Liked it a lot. Any suggestions for the moustache. Want to grow handle bars, but tge haurs in the middle don't go to the dides, how msny times I come thrm per day. Wax hel0s a couple of hours, but aftervthat it is even a bigger mess.
Yo Spencer, salutations from Sioux Falls, SD. Ive been loving your videos enough that I had my wife buy me the beard wash and conditioner for prime day đ. I believe I'm at the short beard stage but I'm aiming for your look (amazing!) Keep up the great work!!
