hi welcome to your girded meditation i'm dr julie smith i'm a clinical psychologist if you're new to mindfulness then just find somewhere comfortable to sit or you can lay down if you prefer just somewhere safe that you can relax in and you can close your eyes but you don't have to if you don't feel comfortable to do that depending on where you are you can just fix your gaze on a spot somewhere in front of you and then follow my lead so we're going to take a few moments to begin with to just notice that natural rhythm of your breathing how it is in this moment so we're not trying to change anything just notice and notice which parts of your body move to enable that in-breath and the out breath and if your mind is racing that's okay just notice when your mind drifts and gently pull your attention back to focusing on noticing that natural rhythm of your breathing just noticing how it feels to breathe and then i want you to expand that awareness to scan over your body and notice any areas of tension tightness or maybe comfort just noticing continuing that natural rhythm of your breathing and noticing if there's any tension in your face around the eyes or the jaw and if there is any there just gradually allow your jaw to relax and drop a little and if you notice any tension around your shoulders and your neck just do the same just allow them to drop slightly and loosen just making room for that rhythm of your breathing and as you do relax your shoulders just allow your arms and your hands to rest really allowing you to open your chest to allow you to take those long breaths in unless you become familiar with that rhythm of your breathing i want you to try and gradually lengthen some of those out breaths not holding your breath not tensing just taking nice deep breaths and slowing that out breath taking your time you don't need to count just find a comfortable rhythm and if your mind wanders from your breathing that's okay when you notice that your mind is gone just note where it's gone to and how those thoughts make you feel and when you feel ready pull your attention back to that slow breathing you may need to do that time and time again and that's okay simply notice where your mind has gone gently guide it back to noticing that sensation of your breathing just opening up your awareness even more to notice the sounds around you something that you might have seen as a distraction just allow those sounds to be in this moment when you notice those sounds take a moment to also notice a feelings or emotions you attach to those sounds you may consider them to be pleasant or not allow that sound to be part of this moment and then drawing that attention back inwards i want you to notice any feelings any emotions that are with you today and notice where those feelings sit in the body where you sense them where you feel them in your body and for this moment just allowing any of those feelings that come up to be here continuing to breathe if your mind wanders that's okay notice where it's gone guide your attention back to this moment with the sensations of your breathing feelings you have in your body the sounds around you let's just allow whatever arises in this moment to be here let's just breathe with it and it's okay if anything that comes up drifts away again you can allow those feelings and sensations and thoughts to be in the moment and then pass then when you feel ready expand your awareness again to become aware of the room around you how it feels to be sat in the chair or let down the temperature of the room and if you have your eyes closed just take your time to open them again and look around you just familiarize yourself with everything that's around you i hope you've enjoyed today's mindfulness take some time to readjust if you want to listen back again then please do but there will be more videos like this so let me know how it went for you in the comments and i will try and respond

  13. Regarding the existence of anything, three questions can arise—a fourth question cannot arise in any case.
The first question: Did everything come into existence on its own?
The second question: Did everything create itself?
The third question: Is everything the result of someone's will?

If everything came into existence on its own, then why can't the things we need come into being on their own? If the eye formed on its own, why can't our glasses form on their own?
If our feet formed on their own, why can't our shoes form on their own? After all, shoes and glasses are less valuable, while eyes and feet are more valuable. If less valuable things cannot form on their own, how can more valuable things form by themselves?

The first point is proven: nothing can come into existence on its own.

The second point: If everything created itself, then why do we allow ourselves to grow old? Why do we become distressed, fall ill, and eventually die one day? If we created ourselves, why can't we keep happiness with us forever?

The second point is also proven: nothing can be its own creator.

Now, the third point is proven without needing proof: this universe was created by a powerful being.

Now, who is that being? The Prophets (peace be upon them) have conveyed this knowledge to us, and that being is Allah, the Lord of Majesty.
