hey hey today we're going to be talking all about journaling for anxiety depression anything related to mental health and as you can see by my smile I'm really excited because I absolutely love journaling and I love sharing it with you guys so before we get started we're going to talk all about journaling hold on let me give up here we go here are my two journals here is one for my coloring and Bible verses and here's the other for when I just want to consciously stream or any gratitude that I want to do so now if you've seen my journal I want to tell you a little bit about the importance of journaling generally has so many benefits even if you're not seeing a therapist if you never plan on it or even if you do see a therapist journaling can be so essential because it is a gateway into yourself finding yourself affirming yourself and just being more aware of how your thoughts feelings what's going on with your life I digress it's just a lot that you can do with pen and paper and writing one of the most common things that go on when you're struggling with mental health is that you feel like no one understands you or you have a hard time expressing yourself and that's why journaling can really be a great tool because it can give you a way to express yourself sometimes we don't talk about things if we are like okay wait I'm not even sure if I feel this way I don't want to say anything and jump the gun well if you have your journal you can absolutely say whatever you want to say it doesn't have to be concise it doesn't have to be fully formulated yet you can just write it's okay that's why journaling can help you manage your anxiety reduce your stress and cope with depression so let's jump into these three ways that journaling can help you do all of those things with anxiety depression and stress right now number one is it helps you to prioritize your fears your problems and your concerns how is that well you've already designated the time for journaling and so you're one with your thoughts like this is your time to you set apart to write and when you are writing the first thing sometimes that we want to do was write about what we're struggling with and so if you have that time designated all the time it's a time for you to talk about your problems talk about your fears talk about your concerns because it's your time for yourself you're not pushing it aside you're not caring for others you're not doing all the day-to-day tasks that keep us away from focusing on ourselves but you have designated that time and so when you're journaling it's a time to complain complain all you want talk about people talk about yourself you can do that and that's allowing you to release that's allowing you to express yourself and to say that it's okay for me to talk about these things and nothing is wrong and it's a benefit that you can complain and talk about your problems and know that no one will know about number two is that you can track things in bullet journaling you can track your medication how much you're exercising your water intake you can track your sleep and so if you're tracking these things you know where to kind of improve if you got only four hours of sleep and then the next day you woke up and you were in a terrible mood and you were groggy and you felt in a low mood or you can look back at it and say you know what there's a correlation which there absolutely is there is a correlation between how much sleep I get and how I feel the next day and so if you're able to track those things like I said you can improve them you can say you know what I got four i'ma make sure that I get eight I'm going to make sure that is something that I absolutely do and see how then it impacts my mood and how I feel going along with the tracking you can also find out your triggers so if you're going to work everyday and you notice after work you feel absolutely terrible mentally emotionally and just beat down then you can look back and say you know what there's something about work that's happening and then go deeper is it a co-worker is it a situation is it a project what's going on with that if you're hanging out with your friends and it's a particular friend that you feel great about you don't have to only track negative things you can also say you know what what is it about this friend that makes me feel amazing maybe it's what they say – you made it maybe it's the activities that you do with them so you can track your triggers negative we and also the positive things as well and if you know more about the positive then you can added more to your life which will help with anxiety stress and the depression and lastly it is an opportunity for you to look at your thoughts your mindset is so important and if you're struggling with anxiety depression and stress that goes hand in hand with negative thoughts nobody can tell me nothing different if you're struggling with those things the negative thoughts is something that you're plagued with and in the journal you can write about those negative thoughts maybe you feel like a failure maybe you always feel like you look terrible those negative thoughts of that I'm never going to be anything where I can't accomplish anything those negative thoughts right there increase the struggles of mental health and how you can fight against it how you can cope with it so if you're journaling about it and writing about it it's a good good way to insert positive thoughts to understand what's going on so praise yourself to know when it's time to reward yourself you don't even need a reason to reward yourself reward yourself people it's a beautiful thing it's a beautiful thing but as you're looking at your thoughts and you're saying you know what there's a pattern I'm always beating myself up about how I look maybe I'm always too hard on myself about the things that I'm going toward my goals you can insert that positive self-talk those affirmations I am enough I am wonderfully and fearfully made like those things that's the scripture but yeah but you can insert things whether it's coming from scriptures where there's coming from friends or whether it's just coming from yourself so know that you can look at your thoughts in your journal write them down track them which is something that I talked about before not only habits but you can track your negative thoughts and then change them for the positive so that was three ways that you can use your journal for working on your anxiety your depression low self-esteem negative thoughts the whole nine life so journaling can be used for so many different things that's why it brings a smile to my face if I was a superhero which I am a fan of all Marvel and DC okay John wick as well if I was a superhero I would ask we have a journal and a writing utensil in my toolkit to help me defeat things in this case it will be anxiety depression low self-esteem body image issues all of it all of it if you found this video helpful then I want to encourage you to hit the like button don't forget to subscribe before you get on out of here follow me on instagram at 11. Do you recommend journaling in paper or digital? I have written since last year and I have 3 notebooks. And I don't know if I have to continue journaling in paper or it will be better to write digital. (I'm sorry For my English)

  12. I was just looking for therapy journaling tips, and found this video. I am so glad I clicked on it though! I’m always so afraid to write things down because I am afraid someone will read them and I’ll be so embarrassed. But your tips really encouraged me to just go for it. My journal is going to be my safe space. So big, huge thank you for posting this video. I am going to follow you on Instagram after I post this looooong comment! 🙂 Thank you again! ❤️❤️

  13. This was a long time ago. I used to journal what I was feeling when I was a kid.

Long story short, my sisters told me how mad they were on what I wrote about them. They were mean to me.

When I told our mom, they got in trouble for reading my diary, while I was told how I shouldn’t say mean things about them.

After that, I stopped writing in my diary, because I was afraid that even if I hid it well, they will still find it, and read through it again.

We’re adults now, but it because of me not writing how I was feeling practically made me become an emotional wreck.

I’m thinking about going back to writing in my new diary I got a few years ago. I really need this.

Edit – I’m doing well in keeping my emotions in check at work, it’s just when I’m home and I have all of these negative thoughts going through my mind, then I let it out.

  14. Your video was sooo helpfull 💖💖thank you, you are amazing!!

  19. I know this is a late comment, but I just want to say thank you in advanced,I'm really going through a lot,and having to pretend like everything is "normal" and fake a smile to avoid questions being asked, and using self harm as a coping mechanism, this may really help me. ❤️

  20. I love this video ❤️🥰

  21. Love your attitude
Love the way you talk and sound, its nice

    Subbed✅

  22. I like the way you talk. I'd like to talk to a therapist like you

  23. Your smile is really beautiful ..go girl ❤️

  24. I'm an introvert but will vomit my issues if I feel comfortable with someone (cashier, mailman, Amazon driver, OMG) almost anyone who seems they care about what I have to say which is HORRIBLE. I'm in my 40s, a Stay at home wife and homeschooler who can't seem to find and keep friends. I'm starting to feel pretty crappy about myself and push it out on my husband which is no fun. I hope journaling will help me.

  25. You are awesome! Thank you so much I was like a mountain of tangled up yarn inside and I can't shake myself free….

  26. Thank you, I appreciate it

  27. I am so excited to start therapy but also to start doing this by my own. 2021 really has been my breaking point and I need to start taking precautions because I'm struggling too much and I want to feel like myself.

  28. Thank you for this video. I have never commented on any YouTube video ever but I have been watching videos on how I can start journaling and never really seemed to understand the concept of it until I came across this video !!!!! Thank you thank thank you !!!! I have been dealing with depression and going through something really hard but I will start writing down everything to help me cope !

  29. I just found this video and it helped me understand how to get started I’m a nurse who is off on leave right now due to burnout anxiety depression among other things I am currently learning my person triggers and I am just now starting my journaling journey this weekend I want to be write something I’m grateful for any problems with mood that day thank you for this video!

  30. Do you think Batman journals and practices gratitude?

  31. I just finished my first journal entry, I really need to start worrying more about my mental health. I stopped writing because I haven’t written anything in a long time and my hand was hurting.

  32. You are gorgeous inside out. ♥️🙏🏾

  33. You’re an awesome person. Thank you

  34. This helps so much. Thank you.

  35. I've started a journal since starting antidepressants and write my experience and how I've been feeling physically and mentally while on it and what other things that have happened in my personal life.

  36. Yesss! I absolutely love this video. I’ve only recently started journaling again. One thing that helps me is to actually schedule time to journal. I use the Passion Planner where you can time block so I’ll block off one 30-min block just for journaling. I’ll brew a cup of tea, light a candle, and play some instrumental music then sit down and journal. I now look at journaling as self-care instead of wasted time. It’s super therapeutic.

  37. I noticed when I write all the positive things that happened within a day there are more negative counterparts of the positives, so it just made me feel more disappointed. What should I do?
