1 in 8 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. Early detection is vital, as with all cancers, which is why it's important to raise awareness.
7 32 and november is men's health awareness month one of the biggest diseases affecting men is prostate cancer according to the american cancer society one in eight men are diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime the majority of the cases 60 are in men over the age of 65 and it is the second leading cause of cancer deaths for men the number one being lung cancer but with all this in mind it is important to know that it is treatable we talked to dr jamie messer at uofl health and he says that not only are there treatment options out there but some people can live with prostate cancer if it's being monitored of course early detection is the vital key when it comes to cancer which is why bringing awareness is so important i think anything that raises public awareness and i think we see that across the spectrum uh you know we see it with breast cancer uh you know the the pink ribbons the uh you know pink paraphernalia and i think it's it's very important for prostate cancer the incidence of prostate cancer is very similar to the incidence of breast cancer i think raising that awareness uh with prostate cancer is really paramount to the disease
