[Music] we want to share some tips for coping with a mental illness would you walk us through these dr. Forster seek medical attention right so that's step number one you have to let somebody know that there's a problem and and primary care is often the first place people turn to and you know we encourage people tell us what you feel you know a lot of times people's physical ailments are related to mental health issues chronic back pain may be related to depression obviously exercise and managing stress a lot of times that's easier said than done how do we manage stress this is life yeah so for however people can do it for some people to religion some people do yoga some people it's exercise some people it's walking on the beach early in the morning that sort of thing meditation you really have to find time just to let your brain turn off for a few minutes and and take a deep breath and and reset your mood yeah and that's not a size that you don't need hours to do this take like you think you said 10-15 minutes right of your day yeah either at the beginning of the day end of the day just sit you know turn off all the phones and TVs and computers and just you know maybe focus on okay this is what I need to do tomorrow and here's how I'm going to accomplish it without feeling stressed I have a question dr. Forster we're talking about mental health and I feel the need to bring up social media as well and men using social media as well and that affects correct right unfortunately there are some studies showing that people who spend more time on social media actually have more problems with depression and anxiety even though there's the perception that people are socially active they're actually not as socially active so it's sort of a paradox and we really encourage people just limit your screen time to about a half hour a day any more than that you start to get some health the health effects from there you
