Gratitude is about focusing on the positive in our life and appreciating what we have. It is something that is learned and we must practice. Elvis runs down four things we can do to start practicing gratitude – right now
1) Don't Be Picky. Learn to appreciate everything. Big and small.
2) Find The Good In The Bad. It's important for us to remember that there is some positive in every difficult situation. By exploring what went wrong we can learn to improve on ourselves and be grateful it happened the way happened.
3) Take Notice. There's things around you right now to be grateful for. Learn to take it in and enjoy the moment.
4) It's Up To You. Sometimes we don't feel very thankful, but it is up to us to turn that mood round and get back to grateful. There are several techniques to help us do so, like exercise, sleep, volunteering, or taking a grateful walk.
Just remember, it takes practice. So, practice.

hey great news we now have worksheets for some of our most popular videos pop on over to rocketkidsonline.com to get your own we've got more coming soon now on with the show it can be easy to get swept away in our lives and forget to stop and show some appreciation for what we do have that's where gratitude comes in the more gratitude the more happy we can be and we like happy so what exactly is gratitude and how do we start putting more of it into our life well I'm glad you asked because I have four things we can do to start practicing some gratitude right now I'm Elvis this is rocket kids and let's get this started being grateful is about focusing on what's good in our lives and being thankful for the things we have like a place to live something to eat friends families and computer access like like without internet house would you be watching me being grateful is not something that we're born with something we learn and we must practice there are so many great things that we take for granted they are just there and we forget just how lucky we are to have them here's four ways to get some of that grateful going on don't be picky appreciate everything gratitude doesn't have to be saved for the big things in life the habit of being grateful starts with appreciating every good thing in life and recognizing that there is nothing too small for you to be grateful for even if it's as simple as appreciating the clear weather so you can play that game tonight or how quickly they delivered your Amazon package with your dinosaur costume take notice of what's happening around you and what you're doing in the moment if you're playing with your little brother enjoy it be thankful you can or if you're spending time with your friends put the phone down and take it in remember don't leave anything out when practicing your gratitude find good in the bad gratitude is not only about being thankful for positive things that happen in our lives in fact sometimes thinking about negative or difficult situations can help to really nail down what you have to be thankful for and here's the good part if we could find the positive and the negative then we are winning and and who doesn't like winning especially at this gratitude thing so dig a little deeper into some of your own past experiences and try to figure out how they've helped shape you into the person you are today and be thankful things happen the way they happen take notice get aware of your negativity complaining or gossiping pay attention to how you are saying the world in the moment did you not get to play the position you wanted to in the game and and are you blaming the coach for not liking you is the traffic keeping you from getting to that big audition and are you just blaming everyone around you well stop that do not let what's happening around you determine your mood take a moment take a breath and take a look around you and what you can be grateful for be thankful that you get to play in the game and excited for what you did that was a great hit that's a positive and at least you have a car to get to that audition that's a positive look around for the good stuff it's there count on you we're not always in the mood to be thankful I get it and these times we may have to work a little harder to find something good because those emotions like sadness embarrassment or anger have crept in don't wait for feelings of gratitude to well up inside you start with you yeah you doing something to get that mood back to where you want to be try doing something nice for someone or or calling someone just to let them know how much they mean to you we can also get that mood up by exercising and doing something we enjoy whatever it is do something to get that gratitude flowing and those are four things we can do to get our gratitude on we can also meditate keep a journal volunteer Savor the moment or spend time around our friends and family all great ways to get gratitude to show up for us whatever you decide to do just do it being grateful for those things in our life big and small have healthy benefits for our mind our body and our spirit remember don't be picky find the good and the bad take notice of the world around you and always count on you make being grateful a part of your everyday I'm Elvis this has been rocket kids thanks so much for watching and always remember to be your best self because it's the only way to be [Music]
