YOU STATE IS NOT JUST ABOUT MEDITATION. WHAT IS THAT? >> MEDITATION IS GOOD IF YOU CAN DO IT BUT NOT EVERYONE CAN. TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR PLATE WHEN YOU ARE EATING. IN CONVERSATION, BE PRESENT. CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT IN STRESSFUL SITUATIONS WHY SLEEP MATTERS SO MUCH? >> YOU NEVER WANT TO UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP. YOU WANT TO RESET THOSE STRESS HORMONES IN YOUR CORTISOL LEVELS. IT WILL GET YOU RESILIENT AND READY FOR THE NEXT DAY. >> FOR THE AUDIENCE OUT THERE, FOR A FRIEND, WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DON'T GET SLEEP? >> WE BOTH GOT 10 HOURS LAST NIGHT. >> 10 HOURS IS GREAT. WHEN YOU DON'T GET SLEEP, YOUR RESILIENCY GOES DOWN AND STRESS GOES UP. >> IT IS BAD FOR US SO RIGHT WHEN WE DON'T HAVE THAT ABILITY TO BE PHYSICALLY RESILIENT AND EVERYTHING FOLLOWS ? >> STRESS IS A COMICAL RESPONSE. YOU START TO RELEASE THE CHEMICALS AND OVER TIME, THAT CAN HAVE HEALTH ISSUES. ABSOLUTELY. >> ONE OF THE THINGS I'M REALIZING IS A CONNECTION TO ALL THE DOTS AND AVOID BEING ON YOUR PHONE CONSTANTLY. IT GETS IN THE WAY OF EXERCISE AND IN THE WAY OF MINDFULNESS. IT GETS IN THE WAY OF SLEEP PATTERNS. WE TALKED ABOUT THAT. LOOKING AT YOUR PHONE TOO MUCH BEFORE YOU GO TO BED. AND YOU TALKED ABOUT CONNECTING SOCIALLY. HAVING INTERACTION WITH FRIENDS AND COWORKERS WORKING IN OFFICES AS OPPOSED TO AT HOME. WHAT IS IT ABOUT THAT THAT IS SO IMPORTANT TO DECREASING YOUR LEVEL OF STRESS? >> AS YOU SAID, CONNECTING SOCIALLY IS NOT THE SAME AS BEING ON SOCIAL MEDIA. >> VERY OPPOSITE. >> CONNECTING WITH FRIENDS, LOVED ONES OR A SUPPORT, A RELEASES THOSE ENDORPHINS, THOSE FEEL-GOOD HORMONES THAT COMBAT STRESS HORMONES. >> IN THE FINAL 30 SECONDS, CAN I ASK YOU, WHAT DO YOU DO TO STAY NOT STRESSED IN THESE MOMENTS. VERY BUSY TIMES IN APRIL. >> SOMETHING YOU CAN DO IMMEDIATELY IS TAKE A DEEP BREATH. THERE IS A LOT OF SCIENCE BEHIND IT. A RELEASES CHEMICALS TO HELP YOU MANAGE STRESS. >> AND WE TALKED ABOUT SLEEP AND HYGIENE AND MAKING SURE YOU ARE ENTERING INTO THAT RESTFUL MINDSET. >> ABSOLUTELY. AS WE SAID EARLIER, SLEEP CAN HELP YOU WITH RESILIENCY AND GET YOU THROUGH THE NEXT DAY. >> TAKING PRE-BEDTIME SHOWERS.
