told that they're really healthy for you but in reality they are the underlying reason of destroying your thyroid gland so let's get started but before we move forward I will like you take a moment to going to talk about five foods which have been considered to be very healthy for your thyroid gland but in reality they can damage your thyroid gland so let's get started the very first food on this list is soy now soy has been used in Asian culture uh as a food for a very long time it does have some benefits like it does improve your menopausal symptoms but for thyroid it is not a good food there was a research study done in 2016 which showed that people who are consuming soy Foods on the regular basis have four times higher chances of abnormal TSH which is the thyroid stimulating hormone there is also concern in research that soy interferes with the entry of iodine into the thyroid gland and thereby interfering with thyroid hormone production now the major mechanism of soy on the thyroid gland is by isoflavones soy has high amount of isof flavons which are chemicals which can have detrimental effect on your thid gland the other problem with soy currently is that majority of the soy worldwide is GMO soy that means it is genetically modified soy that uses very high amount of insecticides and pesticides and again increases the toxin burden of your body so that's the reason because of all of these reasons saw is really bad for your thyroid and you should avoid it completely the second food on this list is corn yes corn is another food which is really bad for your thyroid gland now why is that so now corn is very high in sugar and the current corn which is produced worldwide has been genetically modified from the original version of corn which was available in the wild because of this genetic modification this corn actually harms your gut and causes something called leaky gut research is very clear majority of the autoimmune conditions like Hashimoto and thyroid conditions starts because of the leaky gut which causes too much inflammation in the body and this inflammation starts attacking your thyroid gland and ultimately leads to hypothyroidism Hashimoto dises and even hyper thyroidism so that's the reason it is very important to avoid corn completely in your diet so that you can avoid getting leaky gut problem The Next Food on this list is caffeine majority of the people worldwide are consuming caffeine in some or the other form either in the form of coffee or tea or energy drinks or sodas research is very clear most of the people with thyroid disorder feel good on caffeine for a short amount of time because caffeine gives them some boost in the energy and also improves their mood but what they don't realize is that this caffeine is damaging the thyroid gland on the long-term basis how does caffeine do that the caffeine actually affects the pitutary axis in your body now pitutary is the master hormonal gland in your body which controls all of your hormones including your thyroid hormone caffeine directly interferes with the proper functioning of the pitutary gland especially it interferes with the HPA axis which is the hypop pitutary adrenal axis by interfering with this HPA axis it not only interferes with the pitutary hormone but also interferes with the adrenal hormones and combine together both of them hijack your thyroid gland and doesn't let your thyroid hormone to act properly in your body and that's the reason caffeine on the long-term basis creates more inflammation and more damage to your thyroid gland and that and that's the reason it needs to be completely avoided The Next Food on this list is high salt containing food most people will say they are not consuming high salt but in reality salt is hidden in a lot of regular Foods especially packaged foods like chips like any kind of snacks that you're eating out of the box or pickles these are all high salt containing foods that you not even aware of now what does salt does to your thyroid high salt containing food actually interferes with your adrenal glands they causes excessive amount of cortisol hormone secretion from the adrenal gland this High cortisol levels in your body interferes with the thyroid hormone production as well as also interferes with how your body can utilize this thyroid hormone and doesn't let your cells to use the thyroid hormone by all of these mechanism of actions cortis salt actually causes the thyroid dysfunction to get worse that's the reason high salt containing foods are really bad for your body and you should avoid them completely another problem is that as you are already aware high salt containing foods are really bad for your heart as well as for high blood pressure which is a very common condition that happens with thyroid patients the last food on this list is vegetable oils yes vegetable oils like soy bean oil canola oils cotton seed oils these are all really bad oils for your thyroid gland the reason being these oils have high amount of omega 6es as well as very high amount of polyunsaturated fatty acids these polyunsaturated fatty acids causes too much inflammation in our body and as we know that inflamation is the root cause of all the thyroid problem and that's the reason they start hurting your thyroid gland the other problem is that these polyunsaturated fatty acids are very prone to oxidation what that means is that these are not very stable oil oil and they can get rancid very easily and they get converted into the bad oils which again causes too much damage to our body especially our thyroid gland so that's the reason it is very important to avoid these vegetable oil completely in your diet and you should stick with more healthy oils like olive I can agree with all of this but the caffeine. Sorry, Dr Gupta, I can’t live without coffee! My question is about organic corn? The research showing corn is bad was all involving conventional corn, GMO, with the BTB gene. Is there research that organic corn causes the same issues?
