hey what's up guys so one of the number one questions I get asked like in public or on YouTube is how do I shape my beard how do I get it so good looking for lack of better words um this is me just out of the shower I haven't done anything to my beard except like dry it um so I'm I'm going to walk you through like my number one tip on how to shape your beard I used to use beard trimmers like the like Nelco beard trimmers or Phillips or something like that and the number one thing you got to do is get away from those stop using beard trimmers because the blade on them is so small and they're just not very precise you need to get some like actual Clippers now the first pair I started off with was these wall like the cheap little wall color something color key walls and these are like 15 bucks on Amazon and I'll put a link down below you can check them out they're good they're really good clippers for 15 bucks you really can't beat them but then I stepped up to these walls which are like 40 bucks but they're way nicer build they're made Metal not plastic it all and then the tips have like metal in them so the tips are always sturdier the guards and so this is what I use now is this so what I do when I trim my beard is I try to keep the side short and the bottom long so it gives it like that longer nicer elegant not elegant like sleeker look I guess what you do is you grab your clippers and you use them like this and you go instead of you know a lot of people trim their beard and they just kind of put a guard on and go you don't do that I used to do that I've learned what you do um you take your clippers and you go down with them like this just brush it against the hair and you go down and it shapes your beard just perfect I'm going to show you guys um I use the one and a half guard usually and you just throw this on your Clipper all right turn them on I'm going to use this mirror because I don't want to [ __ ] my beard up all right so you got to remember to go down with it what you just kind of trim a little bit down the sides and it'll just barely cut any off just like [Music] that and that's about that's about perfect right there so as you can tell my right side here looks way trimmer than my left side it's all bushy and needs to be trimmed up but this is my right side now and I've taken the sides down and I've got the length of course on the bottom so now all I have to do is do the other side I'm not going to run you guys through that but you do the same thing on the other side just go down with it nice short even strokes and then you put your beard oil in beard balm whatever you choose brush it out I use a Kent comb these are amazing too I remember when I first uh got a Kent comb and I was using regular Combs and I got one of these so amazed by this thing these things are amazing they just glide through so effort effortlessly easy smooth they're great look how good that looks right now see that I look good not going to lie I look good give me a thumbs up like comment subscribe if you want more stuff like this if you guys have questions always put them in the comments below I will answer your questions I'll either comment or I'll even make a video sometimes about what your questions are um thank you guys for watching have a great day

I stopped shaving because I did not want to pay the exorbitant prices for blades and shave cream. I did not stop shaving to impress anyone with a fierce beard. Keeping it trimmed is self defence, not being "pretty".

I've got the Wahl colour clippers. Had them a couple of years now. And only use them about once a month. Which number clipper comb would you use to go down your sides. Cheers Kev

I took your advice and grew my beard for 3 months. I remain confused about trimming. A few people have made comments that my beard is crazy looking. I took your advice again and bought a kit and see the benefits of the oil and balm and combs and whatnot and it's a big help.
I'm going for the almost unkempt look. I used to shave my beard line on my cheek and finally I'm not doing that anymore. Took your advice again. I love it much better this way. It's getting long near the jaw line and that's what people make fun of the most. My hair utter last week was begging me to let him trim it but I refused. I'm scared to trim too much. If I took my clippers and used a #2 do you think that is safe enough to trim but not butcher? I'm kind of going for the David letterman beard but not quite as long.
