hi there my name is michael hyland i'm a doctor of physical therapy you're watching the parkinson's minute for the next several weeks i'd like to talk about insomnia and some specific sleep hygiene techniques that may improve the ability to sleep at night first tip is only go to bed when you're feeling sleepy and if you're not able to sleep try not to lie in bed awake try to get out of bed and to do some sort of activity until you feel sleepy and then you can go back and try again some activities might be something like reading a book or playing solitaire with actual playing cards that's the other important thing you want to avoid screen time with artificial screens uh like television or your cell phone uh you want you want some activity that's not gonna wake up your your brain and and mess with you like like the screen time cam so that's just one little tip but again try to go to bed sleepy and if you can't sleep get out of bed do something come back and try again be sure to subscribe for more videos like this thanks for watching
