  2. I was very similar when I was young, embarassment/ no confidence. Studied all night for a chem exam, went in and finished it early and was sure I had flunked miserably. Went for a walk and had a mental break/ epiphany which released me from all cares. Totally liberating, it led me to totally change my life (got the top grade in the class on that exam). Became a minimalist before there was a name for it, and had no care what anyone else thought about me. Still like that 50 years later, and I wish it would have happebned sooner in muy life.

  6. I'm still looking into minimalism, I just don't want to take it to extremes like some people do. I am a believer that if you work hard enough, you are entitled to enjoying your "wants" but your responsibilities should always come first. I don't want to be owned by my possessions. My parents and uncles have tons of money, I have seen how cluttered living leads to constant dopamine hits and it is never satiated. I have vitiligo, so I need to purchase some higher end sunscreen to take better care of my skin; minimalism would dictate I should cheap out and purchase a sunscreen that isn't as effective because it's cheaper.

    So I understand the value of minimalism, I just think some people go too far with it.

  7. Decluttering does help. It doesn’t remove it. But it lifts so much weight off your shoulders.
    I have found that cleaning up all the excess stuff makes me so upset and angry sometimes. I only calm down after cleaning it all up.

  8. You and other YouTube channels on declutter has completely inspired me. I’m a procrastinator with adult onset of ADHD. I have a very neat and clean home. No one would ever imagine I have clutter until you walk into a couple rooms or open any of my closets. I have attachments to just about everything. I find myself telling people I can’t do things because I don’t have time or really I should be home handling this clutter. I feel guilty. I know for sure how liberating it would feel to finally get this stuff out of my house. I did it about 20 years ago and I know the feeling of liberation and freedom it gave me. It’s time to handle my organized chaos. Thank you so much 😊

  12. My own experience is that clutter-free living gives me a sense of peace and "ahhhhh". Clutter makes me so stressed. A pleasing, gentle color palette, and a clear space, makes me feel good. And, people that come into my space always comment how much they love my home and feel so good.

As crestons wife for me it is when they are hoarders I can't go to their homes it's too much for me it does alot to me mentally it shows up for me in anxiety I'm like I got to go I know people who are hoarders it effects their own mental health and not in a positive way. Your environment does effect your mental health on some level whether positive or negative and with hoarders I've known it effects them in a negative way but they wouldn't admit if they are prideful about it

  16. Best advice I can give is to not watch YouTube hauls. I unsubscribed from several channels when I saw them open doors to hoard rooms of decor they bought for videos. It made me feel some kind of way, and not in a good way.

  17. Ive hit bottom to. I almost lost my daughter she had a 5 percent chance of making it too her first birthday. We lived in a hospital for 200 days away from our boys. She's 4 now! She has limited life expectancy but were thankful for every day. Jesus brought me out of it but he has shown me he two was a minimalist. Prayers for ya. Your openness helps me more than you know. I almost fell off the minimalist ban wagon tonight but you kept me going. I can't think you enough. God bless.

I've been a self-proclaimed minimalist since moving countries over ten years ago, and selling almost everything I owned. Amazingly, when I was free of most of my 'stuff' I also felt emotionally free as well. Great videos, and love your thinking around this topic! Cheers, DMS

  19. Can you talk about being minimalist and being in quarantine? I find it so easy to want to buy say more kitchen tools because I cook more or build a reading nook now that I'm at home all the time. Do you think this goes against living a minimal life? My understanding is life will be back to normal at some point. And the things I need/want in quarantine are temporary.
