my name is Tina I'm a labor and delivery nurse and I've got the six things that are going to make your postpartum recovery less painful number one is medications take your meds as prescribed by your provider for pain and swelling and maybe think about adding in a stool softener too number two is ice packs make sure to have some of these in your freezer ready to go when you come home with your brand new baby or make some picles ahead of time ice on a swollen perineum feels incredible and if you're curious how to make a padsicle you're going to take an overnight pad you're going to add some aloe vera and some witch hazel and then you're going to pop it in your freezer for when you need it which brings me to tip number three for reducing postpartum pain grab something with witch hazel on it and pop it on anything that ails you number four sits bath put whatever temperature water feels good on your bits in there put it on the toilet and then sit and soak chat with your provider about adding Epsom salt if that's something you're into tip number five is this beauty right here it's any first aid spray with lidocaine in it you can spray it on your panum and it'll provide some numbing pain relief and my last tip is rest which is super powerful for healing

Do one for c sections please!
Ice packs/padsicles and the spray 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Those were and will be my savior.
Holy moly I feel the pain meds. I was offered Tylenol/ibuprofen 3 hours postpartum, but I declined because I “wasn’t in pain.” My epidural hadn’t fully worn off. Three hours later, I was in soooo much pain and had to wait for the medicine to be sent up for me 🙃 best believe I’m taking it next time as soon as they offer!
The best thing that helped ease my pain, is standing in the shower, bent over and just letting cool water run down my stitches. I'd do this at leat 4-5 times a day because it felt so good. We didn't have all these fancy things to help, but I wish they would have
Lidocaine spray helped tremendously
Peri bottle and if a c section, make sure you have a pillow on hand to brace your abdomen if you cough, sneeze or try to turn over in bed. Also post section walk upright, don’t lean forward grasping your abs. It will allow for speedier recovery. Definitely take a stool softener and ice your bits(incredibly helpful! If you end up with hemorrhoids from pushing prior to an eventual section, use the Tucks with Witch Hazel. Witch Hazel is a natural product that is very soothing. Good luck to all the Mommas! You’re going to do great and by the end of it you will have your little bubba and have joined the most wonderful club called motherhood.💐
ICE PACKS… those ice pack pads the hospital gave me.. those were life
I want another baby see your a mum of four how was the transition to 3 my daughter is 2 and son 5 I would like a mother now. Husband says no but I’ve always wanted three xx
A warning for people with EDS! There is a very high chance that opiates prescribed to you, as well as any painkiller ending in -caine (including lidocaine), will have a diminished or nonexistent effect on you. Current numbers estimate that 85-90% of us don’t properly respond to painkillers.
Make sure to talk to your provider for alternatives ahead of time, since postpartum is a really bad time to end up with no pain control.
Okay I'm gunna be a dad not rly soon but I'm planning on sooner than later so I'd like to be ready for everything. I'm trying to to learn eventing I need too know. What is the paraneam or however you spell it. Do you have like an anatomy break down. Idk what I need to know tbh. I'm trying tho.
Wow, in germany we get none of those. n o n e.
I don't know if it's good or bad, but it just shows the difference in culture, concerning medication.
I’ll use thc over meds 😂
Absolutely love those scrubs, that is so your colour 😍
The Tucks pads and Tylenol was a life saver for me!
Fun fact! I recently cut the gel from 2 fresh aloe leaves (Walmart produce) and a full bottle of T N Dickinsons witch hazel and blended it up/strained and it became this really cool pinky purple color!
My midwife recommended hypercal cream (hypericum and calendula) applied to the stitches after using the bathroom. It was very soothing 👍
Definitely have experienced more pain overall from breastfeeding than afterpains+perineum combined, though, so if there isn't one already, a video on soothing and healing for breastfeeding mums would be valuable.
😅😅😅 please tell the importance about stool softeners especially after giving birth❤❤❤
Topical lidocaine (like in Solarcaine) does absolutely nothing for me. If you're like me, try Dermoplast (the blue one). It uses benzoicaine instead, which I find does work on me. So it might for others, too. It doesn't have to just be for postpartum pain, either.
What about c section mommas?
Why am i getting these on my feed? Lol i cant have kids and this is is depressing
I had a C-section. And was prescribed OxyContin. I did not like the sensation of OxyContin-this is before all the controversy arose around this drug as it made me spacey. And having a new baby, I felt I needed all my wits about me. I took Advil instead. I’m not sure about following the medication prescriptions that are prescribed if it is something like OxyContin.
My L&D nurse recommended freezing unlubricated condoms filled with water, wrapped in a wash cloth, they fit against the perineum and can be held in place with your underwear or depends. Only refreeze once (two total freezings) or they'll break on you… NOT fun!
I used to work on the mother baby unit…😂😂😂i HATED HATED HATED that unit…😂😂😂
Tina if I Ever have a baby I want u to be my nurse
Did you hear rest? Cause i sure did!! So why the hell are women supposed to do anything like cooking and cleaning when theyre in pain? :[
17 days postpartum… I saw this 17 days too late 😭
Would you make a video addressing labor after already having an initial c section? 🩷I’m so stuck between trying for a normal delivery or just doing another c section. This plus be my second c section if I were to do it.
Be careful with the lidocaine spray, broken wounds and allergic reactions can be common
I actually found although I had a second degree tear, recovery didn’t hurt. The only thing was the stinging when urinating and stool softeners were great to have on hand
I thought you were an OBGYN! Like I thought you delivered babies lol. You’re so good’
I didn’t know any of this nor had any helpful tips from my L & D nurses & I had grade 4 years everywhere. Trust me ladies, do any or all of the above & your journey toward healing with be so much less painful. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Meds? They give you meds?
If you don't rip and have no stitches will you still need to use all if these things?
All of the above! All at once! And start using stool softeners BEFORE you go into labor.
Tokophobia 😱
Personally I didn’t care for the padcicles. They always absorbed everything I put on them ( doing its job) but it was more dry than soothing. I chose to keep the Tuks pads, witch hazel bottle and aloe in the fridge. Also I’m not super sensitive when it comes to products but I tried the Frida postpartum kit and I broke out in hives from mid stomach to mid thighs from that stuff. I tried interchanging them to see if it was one or another but they all gave me the same issues. And when I say postpartum kit it was the foam, witch hazel pad/wipes, the postpartum underwear, and cooling pads.
Just processed with caution and if you hospital still offers the same stuff just non Frida please take them. It’s better to be safe than sorry and trying to rip your skin off.
I just had a hysterectomy and these are awesome for that, too! I did NOT realize how much my perineum and vaginal vault were going to hurt even from a laparoscopic hysterectomy. The spray and the padsicles my daughter made me were the absolute bomb! Ten out of ten would recommend!
Serious question. WHY is Tylenol and ibuprofen the primary medication given after pushing out an ENTIRE tiny human out of your lady parts?! Then when you ask for something to actually help the pain and discomfort, you’re looked at like a crackhead? I understand breastfeeding etc but GOOD LORD. Help mama get relief through that first few days/ week after giving birth.
They gave me quite a few cans of the numbing spray and it was a life saver.
Take the damn stool softener!
