First it's an eating pattern not an eating plan. So you can combine intermittent fasting with paleo, keto, atkins, vegan, vegetarian, or whatever your diet preferences are. The most common protocal is to fast for 16 hours only consuming things like water, and black coffee, and then you would have an 8 hour feeding window and that can start and end at the times that you prefer. Most people will prefer to skip breakfast and have their first meal around lunch followed by dinner later in the evening. Your calories could be divided evenly between the meals 50/50 or they can be skewed so that you can have a small lunch and a really big meal at the end of the day.

To burn fat and look your best make sure you're still primarily filling your feeding window with plenty of protein as well as single-ingredient natural foods like fruits and vegetables, this alone can lead to fat loss without even tracking calories. You may feel hungry when first starting to fast, but it will go away if you just give your body time to adapt. No, you will not lose muscle, your metabolism won't slow down, and most people can exercise on an empty stomach.

  1. I have worked into a mix of fasting – One 24-36 hour fast every weekend, and then 3 other days of the week I do 16-18 hour mini fasts. Those other 2 days I leave open so I can eat pretty much whatever I want whenever I want so I can follow the idea of feast and famine. It's been great for me.

  6. I agree with everything except I’d recommend eat a big breakfast (start the day strong and fueled up) and sleep on an empty stomach skip dinner … it’s such an amazing feeling

  9. I have always skipped breakfast eating a solid lunch but starting with a hot coffee. I was never tired or sick & enjoyed a full dinner at 7pm. I go to bed at 11 pm & my digestion is fine.

  10. I started 16/8 a few days ago. I lost over 130 lbs in about a year but I've stagnated for over a year. I have another 150 lbs to lose, so trying this out. I eat a pretty balanced diet with a particular focus on protein. I get about 130g per day. I'm around 340 lbs. Trying to get down to 180 lbs. I'm 5'9" so I'll be a rail at that weight lol but I want to be small and healthy.

  11. If I can add a small tip, I'm very experienced in IF and have done a prolonged 84hr fast recently. When you feel your stomach rumble take some small sips of water over a few minutes and the hunger should go away, you're most likely just thirsty or dehydrated. During my first prolonged fast I didn't actually get hungry until dinnertime on the third day. I learned a lot from the prolonged fast, at the start of December I will try for 100hrs and see how I feel. 🙏

  12. For the last 3 months I've done IF16:8 and ate whole foods along with vitamin D, ACV capsules, chia seeds. Walk 30 minutes a day. Lost weight but not as fast as others.

  13. Best part is every vegetable taste great😅. I hated tomatoes and cucumbers down that line I only liked Lettuce because of my stepfather showing me to wrap rice and chicken in lettuce leaves fell in love with that. After finding Fasting and intermittent fasting That hunger gave these healthy foods spice.

  16. Unfortunately, it didn't do anything for me. I eat very healthy and no carbs. No weight loss. I searched why it didn't effect me and it seems eating too less will also not result in weight loss, but will keep your body fat.

  17. Biggest surprise to me was how after 2-3 months of being consistent with my fasting schedule I could go through 24 hours with doing full workouts & bike rides without gwtting hungry.

  19. The hardest part is the start. Once you've done a few days the hunger pangs vanish.

  21. i recently did a 72 hr fast. did you know that fasting increases testosterone way more than exercise?

  22. Discovered something interesting today. Coffee increased my blood sugar levels. Only by 0.1 mmol but still. Imagine you're having more than one cup a day. I'm going to see what green tea does to it.

  23. not work for me.. onlY woek 5day fasting on start of montzh and thgen caloric restrictzion,, max 1300-1400 hih protein, lo carb basicly off sugar

  24. I was snacking allday and drinking energy drinks had chest pains and gained 30lbs. Started ketogenic diet and try to eat alot of eggs and shorter eating window through out the day. If I add walks after meals it seems to melt off even faster. In the last 30 days lost 12-15 lbs so it is working for sure
