hey thanks for watching CNN 10. our daily 10 minute shows are on pause for the summer but we will be posting Clips like this Monday through Friday until our regular programming resumes in August so please enjoy and to get notified of our content please like And subscribe to this Channel and keep up with us at cnn10.com I'm Dana Santos a breathing mobility and Mind Body coach in professional sports this breathing exercise is designed to help train you to breathe better as well as give you 90 seconds of deep breathing that will elicit a relaxation response that helps relieve stress it actually inhibits your stress hormone production lowers your blood pressure and lowers your heart rate it's called 573 it's a pattern that's based on a five count inhale a seven count exhale and a three count pause we'll place our hands on our ribs to guide and monitor their movement so these lower ribs there's a split here because they're designed to move so we're going to use our hands to help facilitate that movement we're going to be breathing in and out of our noses let's just start with an exhale to get our ribs in a good position so let the air out now we'll be taking six breaths together for a total of 90 seconds at that 573 count let's begin inhale and then exhale now pause good inhale exhale pause [Music] inhale your ribs move out exhale your ribs move in back and down letting all the air out pause inhale exhale keep guiding and monitoring that rib movement in back and down on exhales pause hold the position then inhale ribs moving out this way exhale ribs moving in back and down let all the air out pause inhale [Music] exhale pause for the last time this is your last breath excellent so that's 90 seconds and at 90 seconds then we elicit that relaxation response that it's your parasympathetic nervous system that rest and restore system to start to respond and so hopefully you feel the effects of that also by moving our ribs during this breathing exercise we're training ourselves to breathe better more efficiently and effectively foreign thanks for watching please don't forget to subscribe to our newsletter at cnn10.com and we'll see you in August for daily episodes of CNN 10.
